Obama Neuters War on Islamic Terrorists

by Cliff Kincaid on Thursday, May 24th, 2012

This is article 292 of 802 in the topic Terrorism

Dr. Sebastian L. v. Gorka, a member of the faculty of the College of International Security Affairs at the National Defense University, said on Tuesday that the Obama Administration is rapidly revising federal counter-terrorism training materials in order to eliminate references to Jihad and Islam.

Government bureaucracies usually take a long time in changing a policy. In this case, he said, “I have never, ever seen such a wide ranging review executed with such alacrity.”

Although he blamed Quintan Wiktorowicz, a member of Obama’s National Security Council, for implementing the Obama Administration’s new overall policy of accommodating radical Islam, including the pro-terrorist Muslim Brotherhood, Gorka said Spencer Ackerman of Wired Magazine had helped sparked the review of federal counter-terrorism training materials through a series of controversial articles. One of those articles ran under an inflammatory headline about “Islamophobia” supposedly characterizing the federal government’s response to global Islamic terrorism.

As a result of this kind of coverage and the new policy, Gorka said the Obama Administration today forbids the use of the word “Jihad” to describe the terrorists that target America for destruction, even though they are members of the Muslim religion and openly declare their Islamic aims. What is happening in terms of redefining the threat is “unprecedented” and dangerous, he said.

The battle against radical Islam has been transformed into a concern, under President Obama and his adviser Quintan Wiktorowicz, about “violent extremism,” not Islamic terrorists or Islamists, he said.

Gorka said that the administration believes there are “good” Islamists and “bad” Islamists and the former can be dealt with. He said this policy is apparent in the decision by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to have contact with the Muslim Brotherhood “Supreme Guide” Mohammed Badei.

While some Islamists are violent and others use democratic methods to achieve power, Gorka said the fact is that they share the same goal—a world-wide system based on Sharia, or Islamic law, resulting in the destruction of America’s constitutional system of government.

Gorka said the process of changing the U.S. approach to radical Islam has even become “un-American” in the sense that training materials, including his own, are being censored by federal authorities without the trainers being told who is ordering them altered or deleted and why. “I was one of the victims of that review,” he said, explaining that certain slides from one of his FBI presentations were ordered removed. There is no “recourse to appeal” in the unfair process, he said.

Ominously, he said that U.S.-based groups sympathetic or linked to the Muslim Brotherhood are reported to have had an influence on the federal committee set up to review the materials, a fact confirmed by Ryan Mauro, a national security analyst with the Clarion Fund. Mauro reported that Islamists are even exercising influence over what the FBI is telling its agents.

Napolitano releases deceptive terrorism report, says legal watchdog

by Jim Kouri on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano’s latest contribution this week to the protection of Americans appears to ignore the most deadly and destructive groups on the planet — Islamic terrorists — say security and law enforcement experts.

A Department of  Homeland Security report released on February 2 compares terrorism to “ordinary crime” in metropolitan U.S. cities and omits the radical Islamic factor, instead finding “significant variability in the ideologies motivating terrorist attacks across decades.”

This appears to be part of the Obama Administration’s Muslim outreach effort, which includes hiring a special Homeland Security adviser Mohamed Elibiary who supports a radical Islamist theologian and renowned jihadist ideologue.

The Obama Justice Department also created a special Muslim Engagement Advisory Group to foster greater communication, collaboration and a new level of respect between law enforcement and Muslim and Arab-American communities, according to officials at the non-partisan watchdog group, Judicial Watch.

In addition, on January 17 Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Attorney General Eric Holder and Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism John Brennan met with senior state, local and tribal law enforcement officials to discuss the President Barack Obama’s Strategic Implementation Plan for Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States.

What surprised many of the attendees was the fact that not once did Napolitano mention Islamic extremismor Muslim terrorists. Many of the police commanders attending found the presentation to be a “vague and politically correct exercise.

Those invited were sheriffs and chiefs of police from states, cities and counties throughout the U.S., including representatives from the organizations such as International Association of Chiefs of Police, Major Cities Chiefs Association, National Sheriffs’ Association, National Native American Law Enforcement Association, Governors Homeland Security Advisors Council, Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council, International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, and others.

And, in 2010, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano held secret meetings with radical Arab, Muslim, Sikh and South Asian “community leaders.” Judicial Watch uncovered documents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that includes a list of the individuals who participated, including radical leaders such as Hezbollah supporter Imad Hamad and extremist Salam Al-Marayati, founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council.

Considering this cozy relationship, the new DHS terrorism report should come as no surprise. It compares terrorist attacks to “ordinary crime” in large, metropolitan areas which is why the nation’s terrorism “hot spots” are Manhattan, Los Angeles County, Miami-Dade County Florida, San Francisco County and Washington, D.C.

As if to downplay the distinct difference between crashing a plane into a high-rise and a mugging, the DHS says “terrorism and ordinary crime occur in many of the same areas.”

It stresses that the “Ideological motivation” for terrorist attacks varies greatly. For instance, the brilliant DHS minds found that certain counties are prone to a particular type of terrorist attack, including extreme right-wing, ethno-nationalist/separatist and “religiously motivated,” though no specific religion is mentioned. The report does point out however, that “religiously motivated attacks occurred predominately in the 1980s.”

Terrorism is also linked to social economic status, poverty, residential instability and “ethnic heterogeneity,” a dramatic change in the urban landscape caused by massive numbers of immigrants.

Napolitano’s state, local cop meeting on extremism vague, say critics

by Jim Kouri on Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Attorney General Eric Holder and Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism John Brennan today at the White House met with senior state, local and tribal law enforcement officials to discuss the President Barack Obama’s Strategic Implementation Plan for Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States.

What surprised many of the attendees was the fact that not once did Napolitano mention Islamic extremism or Muslim terrorists. Many of the police commanders attending found the presentation to be a “vague and politically correct” exercise.

“Engaging local communities is critical to our nation’s effort to counter violent extremism and violent crime, and this meeting brings together many of our partners,” said Secretary Napolitano. “The Department of Homeland Security will continue to collaborate with our state and local law enforcement partners and engage the public in our efforts to combat violent extremism, while protecting civil rights and civil liberties.”

But throughout the meeting, it was noticeable that was no mention of Islamic terrorists — including homegrown radicalized American Muslims – during the Obama White House meeting.

Secretary Napolitano discussed her department’s support of local communities by enhancing already existing partnerships of federal, state and local law enforcement such as joint task forces, but she neglected to discuss Joint Terrorism Task Forces, such as the successful group of New York City police officers and agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“I find it astounding how [Secretary] Napolitano could be so longwinded yet never once used the words “Islamic,” “Islamists,” “Muslim terrorists,” or any names of known terror groups. It’s as if Holder and Napolitano never read the report issued by the House Committee on Homeland Security, chaired by Congressman Peter King during 2011,” said one of the attendees who requested anonymity since his superior is a Democrat mayor.

Rep. King of New York endured much criticism for holding a series of hearings as part of his probe of homegrown Islamic terrorism and so-called “lone wolf” terrorists.

Napolitano mentioned expanding government grants to counter violent extremism and violent crime regardless of ideology, but neglected to mention religious extremism as practiced by al-Qaeda, Al Shabaab, Hamas, Hezbollah, Army of Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The former Arizona governor stated that “DHS is continuing to implement recommendations from the DHS Homeland Security Advisory Council Countering Violent Extremism Working Group, such as developing a curriculum for state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement focused on a community-oriented policing approach to countering violent extremism and violent crime.”

Her priority however was the DHS’ Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties which she said is dedicated to educating communities and state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement on cultural awareness across the nation.

“Cultural awareness? How about the fact Islamic terrorists want to murder Americans and destroy the Western world and its practice of pluralism and religious freedom?” asks attorney and political strategist Mike Baker.

Friday Afternoon Roundup – Forget it Jake, It’s Malaisetown

by Daniel Greenfield on Saturday, August 13th, 2011

London may be burning but the Halal at Subway is still made fresh

The economy is in the doldrums. The Republican field is still open. Obama is milking the death of the SEALS for everything he can, and it’s another bright and sunny day in Malaisetown.

The last of the magic is gone. If liberals hoped for a savior, what they got was a celebrity with a law degree and an outsized ego, who excels at looking out for his own interests, but can’t even meet the most minimal standards of competence.

There are striking similarities between the administrations of Obama and Schwarzenegger. Egotists who rose to power on their celebrity clout, rammed through their agenda, when that agenda was countered fell back on a torrent of personal appearances, and then finally dissolved into a puddle on the floor.

Thin-skinned, dependent on a media bubble, unable to relate to people and incapable of understanding how to deal with setbacks. The difference is that Schwarzenegger was a movie star turned politician. That’s an excuse.

Obama has no excuses. He’s a failed human being and a media puppet who’s been conning people for so long that he can’t operate any other way.

But in a little reported side story, the White House has unveiled a bold new counter-terrorism strategy. And by “bold”, I mean “whimpering”, for “new” substitute “really old” and by counter-terrorism I mean CAIR.

The Obama Administration has a new strategy for combating Islamic terrorism. The document that lays out its new strategy avoids using “Terrorism” in its title, instead substituting “Violent Extremism”. Jihad is not mentioned anywhere. Even “Muslim” is used as little as possible.

The document warns repeatedly that associating Islam with terrorism leads to terrorism. WWII had “Loose Lips, Sink Ships”, and we have, “Loose Stereotypes Fly Planes into Buildings.”

The new strategy isn’t counter-terrorism, it’s the same old Community Policing garbage that has dragged down the War on Terror into appeasement and Muslim outreach– in triplicate.

Empowering Local Partners is a transparent defense of CAIR and other Muslim organizations accused of radical activities. But rather than countering the charges raised against them, it pretends those charges have never been made, and urges law enforcement to continue partnering with Muslim groups.

And who is the White House’s man to draft a big picture counter-terrorism strategy?

After September 11, Wiktorowicz co-wrote an article for the Saudi funded Middle East Policy Council Journal, which made a point of distinguishing between Al-Qaeda and more mainstream organizations such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Wiktorowicz also distinguished between violent and non-violent Salafis.

This is NPR and CNN’s alternative to “Islamophobes” like Emerson, Spencer, Bat Yeor, Bostom, etc. If the left were a bit smarter, it would find terrorism experts without these kinds of black marks, but this is a media operation where Michael Scheuer gets airtime.

This is how the left keeps marginalizing itself on the debate.

THE LATE GREAT DEBATE

The 2010 field is shaping up surprisingly well for an election battle against an incumbent, but maybe that’s because the GOP threw the 2008 election. And belatedly decided to give the 2012 election a real go.

Congressman urges Obama not to soften on new terror strategy

by Jim Kouri on Monday, August 8th, 2011

This is article 9 of 802 in the topic Terrorism

Congressman Peter King presides over a Homeland Security Committee that's more interested in protecting Americans and less interested in being politically correct. Credit: Police Times Magazine

U.S. Rep. Peter T. King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, this week responded to the Obama Administration’s release of its National Strategy entitled “Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States.”

“I look forward to thoroughly reviewing the National Strategy released [yesterday].  I appreciate the Administration’s work on the Strategy.  I particularly agree with its finding that al-Qaeda and its affiliates and adherents represent the preeminent terrorist threat to our country,” said Rep. King.

Rep. King urged President Barack Obama not to follow the politically-correct orthodoxy regarding  U.S. communities that aid terrorists, as federal law enforcement and security agencies implement his strategy to combat violent extremism.

“My concerns are with language in the report which suggests some equivalency of threats between al-Qaeda and domestic extremists and also with the politically correct inference that legitimate criticism of certain radical organizations or elements of the Muslim-American community should be avoided,” King stated.

“Similarly, while I certainly support community involvement and initiatives, we must ensure that these do not become politically correct feel-good encounters which ignore the threats posed by dangerous individuals in the community.  While we must assure the Muslim-American community that we will address real grievances, we must also remind its leaders that they must demonstrate leadership and cooperation.  We should also encourage moderate Muslim-American leaders to step forward and assert themselves,” stated the veteran congressman.

“Let me emphasize that in practice I support much of the Administration’s counterterrorism efforts, which have been targeted and tough.  I trust that today’s report does not indicate any stepping away from those efforts,” King added.

The new plan describes the Obama administration’s goal to forge lasting partnerships with local governments, law enforcement and communities, which are frequently best equipped to identify radicalized individuals and the causes behind their extremism, according to the strategy.

“The federal government will often be ill-suited to intervene in the niches of society where radicalization to violence takes place, but it can foster partnerships to support communities through its connections to local government, law enforcement … and many others who can help prevent violent extremism,” according to the plan..

The report stipulates that al-Qaeda and its supporters are the largest looming threat to the U.S., but it recognizes that terrorists and violent extremists have come from many different ideologies and cultural backgrounds over the years.

“My concerns are with language in the report which suggests some equivalency of threats between [al Qaeda] and domestic extremists and also with the politically correct inference that legitimate criticism of certain radical organizations or elements of the Muslim-American community should be avoided,” King said in a statement.

Obama’s ineligibility: Prepare to defend America – As the scam unravels

by Lawrence Sellin on Thursday, August 4th, 2011

imageIn Barack Hussein Obama’s America, ordinary Americans exercising their Constitutional rights are considered “terrorists”, simply because they oppose his radical agenda.

Obama’s contempt for us knows no bounds. His plan to suppress us is no longer constrained by the Constitution and the rule of law. Or so he hopes.

Although Obama is trying to empty Guantánamo Bay of real terrorists, it is still too small for Obama to house the millions of Americans who now realize that he is an illegal President and has committed felonies both before and after occupying the White House.

To facilitate the suppression of free speech and other Constitutional rights, the Obama White House has unveiled a new domestic terror strategy, which will be useful against Tea Party malcontents and supporters of Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann.

According to the plan, local communities around the country are best suited to take on the challenge of combating the kind of violent extremism that inspires people to kill or oppose Obama’s policies. The strategy calls on federal agencies to help police, schools and community groups prevent violent extremism or the exercise of former Constitutional rights through the use of gulags and re-education camps.

Unfortunately for Obama, his co-conspirators and sycophants, the scam is starting to unravel.

The most pertinent questions in the coming months will be:

  • Who will be sent to prison with Obama?
  • Who will cop a plea for immunity from prosecution? (hint)
  • Which members of Congress will be put out to pasture for their complicity?

Obama is an illegal President according to Article II, Section I, Clause 5 of the Constitution and the binding precedent of Minor vs. Happersett (1875). There is no ambiguity, although those complicit in the fraud have deliberately provided information to mislead the American people.

The Supreme Court held that Mrs. Minor was a US citizen because she was born in the US to parents who were citizens and defined that category of citizen as “natural born.” The Court specifically avoided reference to the 14th Amendment upon which the Wong Kim Ark case was based. Minor vs. Happersett

Is it a coincidence that every President since the Revolutionary era has been a natural born citizen with the exception of Obama and Chester A. Arthur, who also hid his birth records?

There is now yet another detailed technical analysis of the PDF file the White House released on April 27, 2011 indicating that it is not a scan of the original document, as claimed by the White House, but instead is the final form of an electronic file used to forge the birth certificate on Adobe software.

Members of Congress will not investigate the overwhelming proof that Obama presented, on national television, a forged Certificate of Live Birth as an official record of his birth. They will not respond to evidence that Obama’s Selective Service registration is also a forgery and that his Social Security Number is illegal.

The list of the ignorant or Obama co-conspirators include: at Sen. Jeff Sessions R-AL, Rep. Tom McClintock R-CA, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison R-TX, Rep. Kristi Noem R-SD, Rep. Leonard Lance R-NJ, Sen. Mel Martinez R-FL, Sen. Sherrod Brown D-OH, Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite R-FL, Sen. Charles Schumer D-NY, Sen. Saxby Chambliss R-GA, Sen. Robert Casey D-PA, Rep. Wally Herger R-CA, Rep. Paul Hodes D-NH, Sen.

U.K. targets British-Muslim radicalization and extremism

While U.S. Congressman Peter King (R-NY) held a second House Homeland Security Committee hearing on the subject of radicalization within the American-Muslim community in hopes of formulating a prevention program, a radically different strategy to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism was unveiled in the United Kingdom this week by the British Home Secretary Theresa May.

The new prevention program will:

* deal with all forms of terrorism and target not just violent extremism but also non-violent extremism, which can create an atmosphere conducive to terrorism and can popularize views which terrorists exploit;

* ensure government funding and support cannot reach organizations with extremist views who do not support mainstream British values;

* challenge the ideology that supports terrorism and those who promote it;

* support sectors and institutions, including universities and prisons, where there are risks of radicalization; and

* draw on existing successful programs to protect vulnerable individuals from being drawn into terrorism.

Home Secretary Theresa May said: “Prevent[ion] is an integral part of our counter-terrorism strategy and aims to stop people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.

“Our new Prevent strategy will challenge extremist ideology, help protect institutions from extremists, and tackle the radicalization of vulnerable people. And we will not fund or work with organizations that do not subscribe to the core values of our society. Above all, it will tackle the threat from home-grown terrorism,” she said.

The new strategy will see:

* a greater effort to tackle extremist ideologies, including work with mainstream individuals to make sure moderate voices are heard;

* tough action to exclude foreign hate preachers;

* work to tackle terrorist use of the Internet for radicalization, including the filtering of unlawful content by public bodies such as schools and libraries; and work with industry and international partners to crack down on unlawful content hosted in the UK and overseas;

* action to build upon the success of the multi-agency Channel program, which identifies and supports people at risk of radicalization;

* work with schools, including a more effective inspection regime to ensure that extremists are not participating in the education of young people;

* greater support for universities and colleges, training staff to recognize the signs of radicalization and improving awareness of help available to them;

* renewed efforts in prisons to stop people becoming radicalized and to de-radicalize those who have been involved in extremism before being jailed;

* extra support, where appropriate, to help faith organizations reach people vulnerable to radicalization; and

* closer work with the Charity Commission to investigate allegations of terrorist activity or links.

Pakistan receiving billions of dollars in military, security aid from U.S.

by Jim Kouri on Friday, May 13th, 2011

This is article 198 of 527 in the topic Government Spending

The backlash that’s occurred as a result of U.S. Navy SEALs’ surreptitious entry into Pakistan to terminate the command of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden on May 1 appears to have strained the relationship between the United States and Pakistan. But most national security experts and diplomats understand that Pakistan’s reliance on the U.S. is paramount to that Muslim nation’s survival.

Pakistan is certainly a key U.S. ally in the effort to combat terrorism and violent extremism. Taliban, al Qaeda, and other terrorists have used parts of Pakistan to plan and launch attacks on Afghan, U.S., and NATO security forces in Afghanistan, as well as on Pakistani citizens and security forces in Pakistan.

“U.S. aid to Pakistan is under review as a result of questions about whether or not elements of the Pakistan military and intelligence services were aware of the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden. Regardless, it is troubling that USAID would let a dollar, much less millions of dollars, go out the door to any organization susceptible to waste and abuse of U.S. funding,” said Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) a ranking member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

“Perhaps this problem explains why so many IG reports of USAID programs fail to find measurable results. Working with trustworthy partners is the necessary first step to ensure we are not wasting millions in aid on good intentions alone,” she said.

Since 2002, the United States has provided over $18 billion in foreign assistance and reimbursements to Pakistan, about two-thirds of which has been security-related. In October 2009, Congress passed the Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act of 2009, which authorizes up to $1.5 billion a year for development, economic, and democratic assistance (referred to as “civilian assistance” by U.S. lawmakers) to Pakistan for fiscal years 2010 through 2014.

In the act, Congress declares that the United States requires a balanced, integrated, countrywide strategy to support Pakistan’s efforts that does not disproportionately focus on security-related assistance. The act authorizes civilian assistance for a wide range of activities, including projects to build the capacity of government institutions, promote sustainable economic development, and support investment in people through education and health programs.

The act also encourages, as appropriate, the use of Pakistani organizations to provide this assistance. In several reports and testimonies since 2008, the Government Accountability Office identified the need to improve planning, monitoring, documentation, and oversight of U.S. assistance to Pakistan.

For example, in previous reports analysts noted the need to increase oversight and accountability for Pakistan’s reimbursement claims for Coalition Support Funds and to improve planning, performance, and monitoring documentation of U.S. development assistance to Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

The Enhanced Partnership with Pakistan Act of 2009 requires the Department of State (State) to develop several monitoring and strategy reports for U.S. assistance to Pakistan, including the Pakistan Assistance Strategy Report and the Semi-Annual Monitoring Report.
