Boehner, delivering what his aides billed as a major economic address, will say President Obama’s team lacks “real-world, hands-on experience” in creating jobs, according to a draft version of his speech that was released in advance. The Republican lawmaker plans to cite reports that some senior aides complained of “exhaustion,” including the recently departed budget chief Peter Orszag.
“President Obama should ask for – and accept – the resignations of the remaining members of his economic team, starting with Secretary Geithner and Larry Summers, the head of the National Economic Council,” Boehner says in the prepared remarks, which are scheduled for delivery at the City Club of Cleveland shortly after 8 a.m. The mass dismissal, he adds, “is no substitute for a referendum on the president’s job-killing agenda. That question will be put before the American people in due time. But we do not have the luxury of waiting months for the president to pick scapegoats for his failing ‘stimulus’ policies.”
In Boehner’s remarks, Geithner and adviser Larry Summers are singled out as having promulgated “19 months of government-as-community organizer.”
“It hasn’t worked,” Boehner will say. “Our fresh start needs to begin now”
Democrats were clearly ready for Boehner’s speech Tuesday — so much so that White House and congressional officials held conference calls in advance of the remarks on Monday to blast Boehner and warn that he wanted to return to Bush-era economic policies.
Here’s the eye-roller of the day from President Obama’s Saturday radio address. This was recorded Thursday at the White House due to a vacation on Martha’s Vineyard, which is the perfect command center from where to monitor the Iranians firing up their nuclear reactor (which is being overseen for safety by the people who brought the world Chernobyl — whew!).
As the political season heats up, Americans are already being inundated with the usual phone calls, mailings, and TV ads from campaigns all across the country. But this summer, they’re also seeing a flood of attack ads run by shadowy groups with harmless-sounding names. We don’t know who’s behind these ads and we don’t know who’s paying for them [the only time we shouldn't care who's paying for something is if that something is a mosque near ground zero -- DP].
The reason this is happening is because of a decision by the Supreme Court in the Citizens United case – a decision that now allows big corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money to influence our elections. They can buy millions of dollars worth of TV ads – and worst of all, they don’t even have to reveal who is actually paying for them. You don’t know if it’s a foreign-controlled corporation. You don’t know if it’s BP. You don’t know if it’s a big insurance company or a Wall Street Bank. A group can hide behind a phony name like “Citizens for a Better Future,” even if a more accurate name would be “Corporations for Weaker Oversight.”
[...]
Well, we cannot allow the corporate takeover of our democracy. So we’re going to continue to fight for reform and transparency. And I urge all of you to take up the same fight. Let’s challenge every elected official who benefits from these ads to defend this practice or join us in stopping it.
This is a Republic and not a Democracy, but that’s of little importance at this point because we’re getting bilked out of both just so they can be sure.
Naturally, labor unions don’t fall under the “corporations” umbrella, but they do their share of advertising — it’s just that most of it goes toward helping Democrats:
Since 1990, labor unions have contributed over $667 million in election campaigns in the United States, of which $614 million or 92 percent went to support Democratic candidates. In 2008, unions spent $74.5 million in campaign contributions, with $68.3 million going to the Democratic Party. Already, unions have contributed $6.5 million to the 2010 elections, and $6 million has gone to Democrats, according to the Center for Responsive Politics in Washington, D.C.
In ads sponsored by labor unions it isn’t always obvious that the ad is paid for at least in part by unions either. “Health Care for America Now” is just one example. Watch this ad from the 2008 campaign and see if it’s obvious that it’s paid for in part by the SEIU, AFSCME, NEA and UFCW.
And forget the “corporate takeover” nonsense. Ever since the Supreme Court ruling freed up corporate political spending, labor unions are stillout-spending corporations:
Labor unions have dominated spending on independent campaign ads so far this election season, despite a recent Supreme Court decision that freed spending by corporations, a Washington Post analysis shows.
The findings are an indication that corporate money is not flooding into campaigns as many predicted would happen after the landmark decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.
The “EduJobs” bill is nothing but a BigGovJobs bill — a massive election season pay-off to Democrat special interests. With your money.
I noted last week that Nancy Pelosi is summoning her minions back to Washington for a special session to rush the Senate-approved legislation into President Obama’s hands (the House had approved an earlier version of the bill). As with so many other political wealth redistribution schemes peddled by the ruling majority and championed by the White House, this one comes wrapped in endless, specific-seeming promises of salvation (it will save “3,000″ in Washington state, “5,000 slots” in Illinois, and “4,200″ in Michigan).
“This is potentially great news, because in these economic times we can use some bridge to get us through,” said Lisa Freiburger, chief of operations for Grand Rapids Public Schools. “But we also have some huge questions.”
The bill cleared the Senate on a 61-39 vote, and U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has indicated she plans to call representatives back from their August break to vote on the bill, which President Obama is expected to sign.
Well, hallelujah, after FIVE turncoat Senate Republican RINOs voted to approve the inexperienced, highly un-American ethics liberal Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court, they also approved $600 million for Border Security.
The controlling liberal Democrats, who are destined to destroy our country, hit two grand slams yesterday with the two actions cited above. Of course they couldn’t do it without some help from some very sorry species of Republicans called RINOs. (You all know that RINO means; Republican In Name Only.)
And even before I name these traitors who will not do as their voters back home elected them to do, I would bet that most of you could name them. But seeing that there are more than five RINOs in the Senate (possibly as many as a dozen) I will give you the names of this current batch who sided with the socialist-communist liberal Democrats.
The most consistently RINO culprits such as the pair from Maine, Collins and Snowe were of course there for the Dems as were ‘Whimsy’ Graham of SC; ‘TrickyDicky’ Lugar of IN; and ‘Judas’ Gregg of NH, the last of which is the traitor who rock-ribbed conservatives of my state of New Hampshire elected to the Senate in the long tradition of sending wise and frugal people to the upper body of Congress.
How these RINOs can turn their backs on the people who sent them there mystifies me; it must run in the blood as it happened before when NH sent ‘Scooter’ Soutar to the Supreme Court thinking he was a conservative but who scooted over to and sidled up with the slippery liberals once he was seated.
It is probably better that Gregg is not running for reelection as he will be saved from the embarrassment of NH rejecting him this time.
But that was only half of the damage that the liberal Dems thrust on our once mighty nation. They pretended to be concerned about our Border Security when they approved $600 million for Border Security. I say ‘pretended to be concerned’ because if they were really concerned they would approve a much larger amount.
The battle cry being sent across the country by those who just love a good demonstration to let-off the steam and frustration of discontent is: “Boycott Arizona!” Boycott Arizona for everything! Don’t go there for anything! Stay completely away! Heck…don’t even look in our direction; which, for those in California will be difficult, since so many of you are relocating here in Arizona, and escaping your own socialist form of government.
But the battle cry of the liberal left goes on… and on… and on. I hope the liberal reactionary demigods of discontent will have some steam remaining to blow-off when they come to realize that besides The Great State of Arizona, ten additional states in the republic of America has passed legislation mirroring Arizona’s Illegal Immigration Legislation!! I know…hard to believe other states in the Union have gotten fed-up with “illegal” aliens trashing their state, creating crimes of horrendous nature, attempting to ruin the culture of America by imposing their brand of living—complete with disrespect to the American way of life, and costing millions of dollars to house, care for, police, and generally deal with people who are here for two reasons only: First, to grab as many financial and other benefits America has to offer without any thought of giving back; and second, to purposefully change the culture of America, and “reclaim” large portions of North America as Mexico!! I know!! Heck of a thing, but those in Washington, D.C. (all of them in Washington, D.C.) know this and just act surprised when you bring the topic up for discussion.
Yep…there are some really great states for those liberal democrats who just love to carry-on about anything not totally left and humanistic to visit. Truly, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson (both Sr. and Jr.), a whole host of Hollywood folks, the George Soros wing of the Democrat Party (it’s a pretty large wing, lots of real rich former hippies, radicals, and general haters of everything America in this group), which is funny in itself, since they made tons of money the old fashioned way—Capitalism and the Free Market System—which they now hate having made lots of money, the politicians who constantly are looking for new folks to indenture so they (the politicians) can remain in the lap of luxury through elected office. The great states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado, Minnesota, Ohio, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Maryland, Missouri…other states (like Idaho) are introducing legislation to address the same “illegal” immigration problems which good ole’ Arizona is suffering. Can you imagine this? Have you heard anything so “Un-American!” What is happening to our country?!
The radical-left-Democrats will just be in a tizzy…what state do they go to next, and when? Where do they march? Can you get enough government controlled media to cover these many “reactionary ‘Hitler-like’” states? Will the liberal Democrats call for boycotting all these states, too? Heck…if the Democrats keep boycotting states, what will they do come election time?? Plus, I’m worried. All this boycotting is bad for the economy. I mean, the very foundational philosophy of the liberal-left Marxist Democrat Party is to: “Spread the wealth around.” How will they accomplish this with all these boycotts?? All their boycotting has helped Arizona’s economy…hotel rooms for after the marches, fast food before, during and after the marches, water bottles for the marches (forget going green—there is serious boycotting going on which needs to be communicated), car rentals, taxes paid on plane fares to get here to boycott (forget about leaving carbon footprints – there is serious boycotting going on), sign making, and a host of related purchases connected to a good boycott, and swell demonstrations. Yep…Arizona welcomes all you boycotters!! What can we do to help introduce you to the other great states in our Union who need economic revival and your “spread the wealth around” philosophy?
One last item: The great state of Arizona would like all of you heading up here from points directly south to STOP! Really! We need you to take the “Boycott Arizona” campaign seriously. Stay away, and STOP TRASHING Arizona. Stop destroying our once pristine deserts (where is a good environmentalist when you need one?). Quit leaving your human trash all over the place.
Arizona is NOT being destroyed by “right wing Hitler-type reactionaries” as the government controlled media prostitutes would lead you to believe. Arizona IS being destroyed by “illegal” aliens who dump indescribable trash and waste all over the Arizona country-side as they continue their march to take back the very land they just turned into a garbage dump. The hordes of “illegal’s” trampling northward will steal anything they can get their hands on; destroy anything they can’t steal; and trash the rest of what they pass by, as they migrate to the “new promised land.” So, please…all you misunderstood “illegals” LISTEN TO YOUR LIBERAL, MARXIST DEMOCRAT PARTY SPONSORS: “Boycott Arizona!” This will give the citizens of my great state of Arizona time to clean up the mess from all of you; including those who enjoy marching, chanting and causing riots.
Thank you for “Boycotting Arizona.” I hear ten other states calling and asking for your economic revival plan.
The following is a press release from the Pima County GOP.
CALIFORNIA’S IMMIGRATION LAW VERY SIMILAR TO SB 1070
CA Cities Can Now Boycott Each Other
California’s penal code section 834b requires, not merely permits, law enforcement to attempt to verify the immigration status of people who are suspected of being in the US illegally.
But there are basic differences. The California law requires verification of immigration status when a person has been arrested. Under section 834 of the Calif. Penal Code, that means when a person has been taken into custody. Arizona requires verification when there has been “any lawful stop, detention, or arrest.” Note that HB2162, the amendments to the original Arizona law, inserted “any lawful stop, detention or arrest” in place of “contact. Arizona requires verification when there is “reasonable suspicion” that the person being stopped, detained, or arrested might be in the US illegally. California does not require “reasonable” suspicion. Verification is required only if it is “suspected” that the person is in the US illegally. But one difference stands out. Nothing in the California Penal Code Section 834b prohibits police from basing their decision on a person’s race or ethnicity the way HB2162 explicitly prohibits Arizona police from considering “race, color, or national origin” when carrying out their duties “except to the extent permitted by the United States or Arizona Constitution.” Again, Arizona’s SB1070 prohibited police from solely basing their actions on “race, color or national origin.” HB2162 deleted the word “solely,” which means that the police cannot consider these factors at all unless it is permitted by the US and Arizona Constitutions.
Apparently some Californians haven’t noticed they live in a glass house. It’s time they stop throwing stones at Arizona.
Corruption in government – it starts with the election process. Special interest groups, labor unions, big pharma, all making campaign contributions supporting the candidate that is going to give them the back room deals they are after. Why do you think this country is in this much trouble! They have all basically bought and paid for the candidate of choice, the one who is looking out for their special interests instead of the interests of the American people. The corruption needs to stop now, and reform needs to start with the funding of political campaigns.
The democrats seem to want to make everything equal – take from the rich and give to the poor. So let’s start with campaign funding. Let’s implement this equal for all system for the politicians, right from the start of the campaign process. It’s time for a radical campaign funding change.
Instead of companies and individuals supporting one candidate over another, campaign contributions would be made to a government fund for each elected position. There would be one fund for the president, one for each state senator race, one for each representative of the house race. All campaign monies would go into this fund and NO OTHER funding for campaigns would be permitted. The money from these funds would then be divided equally to all candidates running for that position, whether it be two or more. Everyone would have an equal opportunity in campaigning for the desired position.
How the campaign spends this money would be up to them, but they would have to limit spending to only the money received from the fund. It would be restricted, of course, to legal activities only. At the end of the campaign a full disclosure of the money would be required within a specific timeframe and an audit would be completed on the final campaign funds. Any money remaining from the election would be returned to the fund for the next elections. There could be no “outstanding balance due” at the end of the campaign.
A radical move, but the problems we see in the government today are because every special interest group and every company has their own agenda and they have all made deals with the politicians to get what they want. They donate and expect to receive benefits in return – and they don’t just mean a thank you letter. The government is no longer run by the people, for the people. It is being run by special interests and big business. This has got to stop! Start the reform where the corruption begins – the campaign funding. Equal opportunity for everyone.
