Newest piece at Fox News: "Chicago violence: The buck stops with you, Rahm Emanuel"

by John Lott on Thursday, July 17th, 2014

This is article 328 of 341 in the topic Criminal Activity
The newest CPRC op-ed at Fox News starts this way:

Over the July 4 weekend, in Chicago alone, 16 people were shot to death and another 66 were wounded.  At a press briefing on July 11, the White House weighed in, stating that Obama would “continue to make the case” that lawmakers should adopt new gun control laws. Two days later, on Sunday, Gov. Pat Quinn also called for more gun control, in particular a state ban on assault weapons, as the solution.

But Chicago’s problems lie with the city’s politicians. Nationally, police solve almost two out of every three murders – 63 percent of them. That figure is much lower in Chicago. In 2010, right before Rahm Emanuel became mayor, the rate for Chicago was 39 percent. But by Emanuel’s second year in office, it had plunged to an official rate of 26 percent. (In reality it is even lower, because Chicago has tried to hide how bad things are by increasingly misclassifying murders as non-murders.)
After becoming mayor, Emanuel did three unfortunate things to the Chicago police force:
1) He closed down detective bureaus in Chicago’s highest crime districts and moved them elsewhere, sometimes quite far away.
2) Instead of increasing the number of police officers by 1,000, as he had promised during his campaign, he actually cut the number of police.

CNN’s “Chicagoland” Charade

by Roger Aronoff on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014

This is article 544 of 577 in the topic Media

It was recently revealed by the Chicago Tribune that CNN coordinated a series it aired called “Chicagoland” with Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The purpose was to make him look good, no question about it. This is not journalism, and heads should roll at CNN for this political hackery on behalf of a political hack. Fox News’ Media Buzz covered it briefly at the end of last Sunday’s show, but this is an egregious violation for a news network, and deserves much greater scrutiny. Clearly, CNN was helping to advance Emanuel’s political ambitions, while presenting it as “non-scripted” programming.

In his book Duty Former Department of Defense Secretary Robert Gates describes Emanuel, the former chief of staff to President Obama, as a “political animal to his core” and “Armed with an inexhaustible supply of ‘f-bombs,’ he was a whirling dervish with attention deficit disorder” while in the White House.

One of CNN’s biggest mistakes was gaining entry to Emanuel’s political territory with the help of a public relations firm Jasculca Terman, whose CEO is a “friend of Emanuel’s dating back decades, and both worked together in the Clinton White House,” according to the Chicago Tribune. “When Emanuel announced he would run for mayor in 2010, it was Jasculca and his daughter Aimee Jasculca who fielded media calls on behalf of the budding campaign,” they report.

The PR firm acted as the gatekeeper for Emanuel and Chicago City Hall. “The ‘Chicagoland’ producers got the green light for access to Emanuel and City Hall after a meeting arranged by the Chicago public relations firm Jasculca Terman, records show,” reports the Chicago Tribune.

Many of the emails back and forth between CNN and the Mayor’s office do sound like outright flattery, and smack of public relations maneuvering absent the necessary journalistic integrity and neutrality one would hope to expect of CNN. “I know we still have time to round out the Mayor’s story and present him as the star he really is,” wrote producer Marc Levin in one email. “This is a real opportunity to highlight the Mayor’s leadership—his ability to balance the need for reform and fiscal reality with compassion for affected communities and concern for the safety of Chicago’s school children,” Levin also wrote.

Levin then appears to coordinate a scene that aired in the documentary with the Mayor’s staff. “We need the mayor on the phone in his SUV, in city hall with key advisers and his kitchen cabinet and meeting with CPS head BBB [Barbara Byrd-Bennett] and with CPD [Superintendent Garry] McCarthy,” Levin writes.

“The first ‘Chicagoland’ episode, televised in March, featured just what Levin had requested: slow-motion images of the mayor climbing into his SUV and talking on his cellphone, and Emanuel’s meetings behind closed doors with Chicago Public Schools CEO Byrd-Bennett and Chicago police Superintendent McCarthy,” reports the Chicago Tribune.

Even The New York Times wasn’t buying this as a documentary. “The new show about another troubled city and its leader looks more like an ad campaign than a documentary,” wrote the Times’ Alessandra Stanley.

This is a direct insult to those who have fought and died to protect America and its Constitution …

You will notice that the flag appears to be held by a person wearing a NEA-logo union shirt …

On Monday’s broadcast of “The O’Reilly Factor” on the Fox News Channel, network contributor Juan Williams accused African-American leaders of corruption an criticized speakers at Saturday’s March on Washington anniversary for failing to address education.

“[March leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.] is not one who would simply cry, as you were saying, over the awful lyrics and the bad schools,” he said. “He would act. He would stand up. That’s the tradition of Dr. King — stand up and act against bad schools that are condemning these kids to useless lives because they never have an opportunity to climb that ladder of upward mobility. And the civil rights challenge of this generation is education, and Dr. King would never allow anybody to buy his silence, to buy him off, to sell out the kids and that’s what’s happening right now.”

“I look today at some of the reports on union spending — it’s unbelievable,” Williams continued. “[The American Federation of Teachers] — you know, AFT and their affiliates in New York, tens of thousands of dollars going to Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and NAACP. Same thing with the National Education Association — NEA.

Because they know that they don’t want those civil rights leaders to ever stand up and say yes to charter schools, yes to vouchers, yes to school reform. Yes to Rahm Emanuel in Chicago saying that we need the black community. Poor people need better schools, and you can’t make excuses at the cost of our children and our children’s future.” <Source>

Bottom line …

The public service employees unions are infiltrated with socialists and communists, so why should we be surprised when these radical leftists try to subvert the government from within and spout their race-baiting socialist propaganda? Never before has our enemies, both foreign and domestic, had such a grip on our government and the institutions that made America strong.

Remember, the 2014 congressional election cycle is fast approaching and it appears that the socialists and communists are at risk of being voted out of office. While they may call it racism, I call it subversion, sedition, and treason.

Chicago area sheriff orders disarming of gun owners

by Jim Kouri on Monday, July 29th, 2013

This is article 451 of 603 in the topic Gun Rights

The sheriff of Cook County, Ill., which includes the adopted hometown of President Barack Obama, Chicago, according to Fox News on Sunday, embarked on his latest program to reduce violence and crime in the Windy City and its suburbs: disarming people living in his jurisdiction, police firearms expert Hadley Beecham told the Law Enforcement Examiner.

The Democratic Party’s Sheriff Thomas Dart created a task force of deputies he’s charged with seizing firearms from several thousand gun owners who have had their right to own firearms revoked.

According to Beecham, the state of Illinois requires residents seeking to purchase firearms for sport or protection to obtain a Firearms Owners Indentification Card (FOID) in order to qualify as a legal gun buyer. Gun sellers are required to verify the identity of all buyers and the authenticity of their FOID.

“After the Illinois State Police officials notify Sheriff Dart’s office of revocations of FOIDs, his special team of ‘gun grabbers’ is dispatched to confiscate the firearms and ammunition of the now illegal gun owner,” Beecham explained.

The police and sheriff’s deputies allow those whose FOIDs have been revoked to voluntarily surrender their rifles, handguns and shotguns. However, Sheriff Dart claims that as many as 3,000 Cook County residents have so far not surrendered their revoked Firearm Owners Identification Card, or FOID, which is required.

Under the management of devoted Obama supporter, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, city cops regularly conduct ‘dragnets’ to gather revoked FOID cards and take guns from the owners, but there wasn’t a big push to do the same thing in the suburbs until now, Dart reportedly told the Chicago Sun-Times.

“The system is broken,” the sheriff said. “The system revokes cards, but the guns are of no consequence. . . . Our strong hope is that we will eliminate tragedies.”

However, not all sheriffs and law enforcement executives feel the same was as Dart, according to an Examiner news story.

A growing number of the nation’s law enforcement officials are already refusing to partake in unconstitutional actions ordered by the federal government or state politicians.

For example, in February, the sheriff of Linn County, Ore., sent a preemptive letter to Vice President Joe Biden announcing his intention to refuse to enforce federal regulations “offending the constitutional rights of [Linn County] citizens.”

According to his letter to Biden, Sheriff Tim Mueller will also prohibit his department’s “enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers” within his jurisdiction.

And it’s not only sheriffs who are openly opposing new gun regulations: Several state legislatures have passed laws preventing local law enforcement officers from enforcing unconstitutional laws such as federal gun-control laws including Utah, South Dakota, Tennessee, Idaho and others.

Recently, Kentucky and Wyoming introduced similar firearms legislation.

“The Constitutional County Sheriff’s Association is in the process of publishing a list of the Constitutional County Sheriffs in individuals states who have taken an oath to seriously refuse to enforce laws that violate the Constitution such as gun laws being proposed by President Barack Obama and members of both houses of the U.S. Congress,” according to Keith Broaders, the administrator for the CCSA.

“Every Sheriff is required by law to take an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.

Obama blasts ‘stand your ground’ law during press briefing

by Jim Kouri on Friday, July 19th, 2013

This is article 449 of 603 in the topic Gun Rights

In keeping with the advice of former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel — to never let a good crisis go to waste — President Barack Obama took to the microphone on Friday and during his comments on the George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin tragedy he questioned whether or not Florida’s so-called ‘‘stand your ground’’ law has a positive influence on peace and public safety in American, according to law enforcement officials who spoke to the Law Enforcement Examiner.

Obama suggested positive measures that the American people should implement such as sensitivity training for local law enforcement officers.

“This may sound reasonable to Obama’s liberal-left supporters, but in the context of the Zimmerman trial, it’s meaningless,” said former police detective Sid Franes, who is African American.

“First of all, everyone associated with the case including the prosecutors said race was not an issue in the case. Second, the case had nothing to do with police relations with the black community. A cop didn’t shoot Trayvon Martin,” said Franes.

“The Obama administration attack on stand your ground laws suggests the White House cannot tolerate the individual right to self defense and the right to use force of arms in self-defense,” said John Snyder, a gun rights expert and a board member of the National Association of Chiefs of Police.

“Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder,” noted Snyder, “said the other day with regard to stand your ground laws that, ‘it’s time to question laws that senselessly expand the concept of self-defense.’ The attorney general does not value stand your ground laws to protect the right to self-defense, to protect life itself from prospective criminal attack.”

Snyder, who’s a former editor with the National Rifle Association (NRA), claims the Obama government does not recognize the natural right to life itself, let alone the right to keep and bear arms to defend life.

“It opposes the right to life, and now is trying to use its power to force people to act against their religious conscience and pay for insurance for abortion,” he said.

“Basically,” said Snyder, “the Obama administration refuses to accept the concept of natural right. Whatever rights this government recognizes come from the state, and not from nature or nature’s God.

Snyder added, “Obama and his political and media supporters just can’t seem to get through their heads that law-abiding citizens need to be able to get guns and use them in legitimate self-defense. About 100 million Americans own about 300 million rifles, shotguns and handguns. Americans buy over 10 million firearms a year and use guns in legitimate defense over a million times a year.”

Snyder said, “Obama and company don’t understand that America is gun country. Firearms are at least as American as apple pie.”

“Gay Pride” Parades, Nudity, and Nihilism

by Selwyn Duke on Thursday, July 4th, 2013

This is article 52 of 64 in the topic Gay Rights

Linked Male Symbols

Bolstered by the Supreme Court’s recent DOMA decision, it is reported that two million people attended this past Sunday’s homosexual “Pride” parade in New York City. This mirrors increased attendance in such parades nationwide, with participants eager to celebrate what is viewed as a milestone in the advancement of the homosexual agenda.

As per usual, the “Pride” events were supported by liberal politicians and celebrities. Writes CBS New York:

Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and other political leaders marched in the [NYC] parade. Mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner also courted support in the crowd speaking to spectators through a bullhorn, and Public Advocate and candidate Bill de Blasio also marched.

… Serving as this year’s grand marshal is musician and activist Harry Belafonte.

… Lady Gaga kicked off the weekend of celebrations with an appearance and performance at the pride rally in TriBeCa.

… Gov. Cuomo also launched the “I Love NY LGBT” tourism website.

In attendance as well was City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who hopes to become NYC’s first openly homosexual mayor.

As for notables making appearances elsewhere, CBS writes:

In Chicago, the parade down Halsted Street, Broadway and Diversey Parkway in the city’s Boystown and East Lakeview districts was expected to top last year’s record attendance of 850,000 people in the wake of the DOMA decision, WBBM Newsradio reported. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn were among the participants, and retired NHL player Wade Davis served as grand marshal.

Yet the picture of unity presented by the media belies the controversy over homosexual parades bubbling beneath the surface. Much of this centers around the nudity and simulated sex acts that are staples of such events and the double standard that allows for them in violation of local decency laws. As Peter LaBarbera writes about what he witnessed during Chicago “Pride” parades:

In his article LaBarbera points out that the young often witness the above and asks, “Should children attend lewd ‘Gay Pride’ parades?”

This also raises another serious question: The clarion call among homosexual activists has long been that they just want to be treated like everyone else.

Chicago teachers union boss, Karen Lewis, brings her bigoted bullpucky to the people …

by Stephen Levine on Friday, June 21st, 2013

This is article 198 of 259 in the topic Education

What happens when you have a corrupt, racist, and incompetent union leader?

“When will we address the fact that rich, white people think they know what’s in the best interest of children of African Americans and Latinos—no matter what the parent’s income or education level.” ~ Karen Lewis, President, Chicago Teachers Union
  1. It appears that the Chicago school system, dominated by corruption and politics, has failed students of all colors.
  2. It appears that the teachers unions, in spite of increasing educational expenditures, have proven that their input to the educational process does not produce productive change, but rising unfunded pension liabilities that threaten to bankrupt the City of Chicago.
  3. It appears that Karen Lewis is both biased and bigoted, believing that you need to be “of color” to set the agenda and curriculum of students “of color.” Which of course is ludicrous since the core principles of reading, writing, arithmetic, and critical thinking are color-blind and have been standardized over the years. If anything, the introduction of calculators and computers into the curriculum only serve as high-tech babysitters and produce generations of functional illiterates that rely on devices rather than brains to understand and manipulate their world.
  4. If Karen Lewis were an honest broker for the children, she would notice that cultural and social differences in disparate communities – including the acceptance of strange names, dress, language, and the acceptance of violence contribute more to the failure of education than does the curriculum or the curriculum. Where children who are smarter or better informed than their parents are seen as disrespectful by their parents and pejoratively “white” by their peers. Where tests are dumbed down, not for the benefit of the students, but for the benefit of teachers who might be held to account for their poor performance.

It’s not about the children, it’s about the teachers – including the incompetent ones who pay the same amount in dues to the union …

Chicago teachers union chief faults ‘rich white people’ for city’s education mess

In a scathing speech on Wednesday, the president of the Chicago Teachers Union charged that racism and “rich white people” are to blame for the immense financial crisis facing the Chicago Public Schools.

Lewis called for “an end to corporate subsidies and loopholes.” She demanded “progressive taxation” to close the $1 billion budget deficit currently facing the Second City and its public schools.  Higher income tax rates on wealthy residents would generate billions in necessary revenue, the union chief suggested. She also proposed new taxes for commuters and for financial transfers. Source: Union boss blames ‘rich white people’ for education mess | The Daily Caller

I am shocked : I agree with and applaud Rahm Emanuel …

Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis says Mayor Rahm Emanuel “exploded” at her during a conversation in his office about his signature longer-school-day effort, pointing his finger at her, yelling and telling her, “F— you, Lewis.” <Source>

Bottom line …

Throwing money at education is not the answer. Teachers unions are not the answers. The answer is to keep politics and corruption out of education and removing tenure – forcing teachers to produce real-world results or be held accountable.

It is not a question of color, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.

Big Government is Stupid Government

by Alan Caruba on Tuesday, June 18th, 2013

This is article 334 of 472 in the topic Government Corruption
Nothing enhances a president’s reputation than to be seen in the company of other world leaders and Obama will have an abundance of photo-ops as he meets in Ireland with the G8 to address the many woes of the world. Too bad they think he is a dunce.
Given the unrelenting headlines about the Obama administration, it is worth worrying that Big Government is Stupid Government. It is inherently a danger to freedom. Just ask anyone who ever lived under communism.
While there are many fine people in government, those at the top of the current roster seem to be a collection of the most incompetent, inept, naïve, ignorant, and uninformed morons to have ever gathered around that big table where the cabinet meets. If, in fact, they really do get together except for the occasional photo-op.
The last Secretary of State and President-in-Waiting, Hillary Clinton, flew a million miles in the job, but no one can point to anything she actually accomplished and she, apparently, had no idea what was going on at State. The present Secretary, John Kerry, is convinced that global warming is the greatest threat to, well, everything and is still trying to get the Palestinians to agree to peace terms with Israel; something they have refused to do since it opened doors for business in 1948.
Eric Holder, the Attorney General, cannot seem to remember anything. Usually you expect a lawyer to keep a few facts in mind such as the contents of the U.S. Constitution, but Holder is an exception or, like Obama, he read it and didn’t like it.
Other than Valerie Jarrett, only the White House reporters seem to know the names of his closest advisors. Tim Carney, the spokesman for Obama, has carved out a place in history as the biggest, lying weasel to ever hold that job. Oh how I miss the beautiful and intelligent Dana Parino, Bush43’s spokesperson. Happily I get to see her on “The Five”, a Fox News daily gab fest.
After Rahm Emanuel left the job as Obama’s chief of staff to become the Mayor of Chicago, the city has turned into a killing ground the equal of downtown Baghdad.
Obama is utterly devoted to Big Government and, thanks to Obamacare, the IRS is trying to hire the equivalent of an armed forces division to administer it. The popularity of Obamacare, plus the scandals, currently is plunging to depths that even the pollsters are beginning to measure in single digits. The President’s numbers are reaching new lows as well.
A notable aspect of Big Government is the increasing size of various pieces of legislation such as the so-called immigration reform and the Common Core education bills. Beginning life as No Child Left Behind under Bush43, this latter bill is not likely to be reauthorized. Any piece of legislation that exceeds a thousand or more pages in a one-size-fits-all is doomed to failure.
At this writing, the House is getting ready to vote for a trillion-dollar food stamp and farm bill about which few Americans are even aware. It’s a huge giveaway for a nation that is essentially broke. As Congress gets close to its summer break, all manner of comparable mischief will occur.

Boston bombing: Americans rise to the occasion

by Lloyd Marcus on Thursday, April 18th, 2013

This is article 505 of 805 in the topic Terrorism

Like you, I am saddened and angry at the evil terrorist who bombed the Boston Marathon. I am also angered by the Democrats’ and their sycophant media hack’s mad dash to blame Republicans.

Shamelessly, the Democrats despicably politicize any and everything.

Democrats have absurdly linked the Boston bombing to the Sequester.

The dirty little secret that the Democrats do not want you to know and the mainstream media will not report is that Obama slashed the budget for domestic bombing prevention by 45%.

The Left openly admits that they hope the Boston Marathon bomber is a white right-wing American.

Rest assured, closed door dark room discussions are underway about how best to blame the Tea Party.

Remember, Obama’s former Chief-of-Staff, Rahm Emanuel said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

Americans who oppose Obama’s socialist agenda and trampling of the Constitution have been a thorn in the Democrats and mainstream media’s sides for years. What better way to destroy the Tea Party than to convince low-info Americans that the Tea Party is responsible for children losing life and limbs. While this strategy may sound a bit cynical, it is reasonable to reference Democrats’ past behavior and Obama’s former Chief-of-Staff, Rahm Emanuel’s words, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

Frustratingly, all speculation as to who is responsible for the bombing has been limited to foreign terrorists and right-wing extremists. Despite the history of domestic terrorism proving otherwise, not one time in the media coverage has it been suggested the bomber/bombers could be left-wing extremists.

But folks, having exposed the Left’s desire to make the Tea Party and Republicans responsible, I wish to focus on the heroes – awesome Americans who stepped up to assist the wounded and save lives.

Mary and I have been on the road away from our home in Florida for several weeks, working to put Conservative Republican Michael Sullivan in the U.S. Senate seat vacated by John Kerry in Massachusetts. We are still in a hotel room living out of suitcases. The stories of heroism and the pain and suffering of innocent children and families have touched us deeply.

I wrote, sang and recorded a song shortly after 9/11 titled, “United We Stand.” My inspiration came from the way our nation came together, though briefly, in unity, patriotism and prayer for our country.

We want to salute the heroes who displayed remarkable bravery and compassion after the bombing. Using my song, Mary got on her computer and put this humble tribute together honoring our heroes. We pray that it blesses your heart.

Smiley-Face Lies and Homicide Hogwash in Dem Hellholes
by Michelle Malkin

President Obama’s hometown of Chicago still goes by the old nickname “Windy City.” But after three miserable decades of strict gun control and permanent Democratic rule, Chicago has cemented its reputation as America’s Bloody City.

No amount of statistical whitewashing can cover up the stains of the left’s ideological failures there. But as Obama continues to wage war on law-abiding gun owners, his home team is trying its hardest to spread smiley-face lies upon damned lies to downplay Chicago homicide statistics.

On Monday, April Fools’ Day, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy held a press conference to tout a “dramatic” drop in the city’s homicide rate. The headlines read: “March homicides drop dramatically in Chicago” (USA Today); “Murders fall 42 percent in America’s deadliest city: Chicago” (NBC News); and “March homicides drop 69 percent in Chicago” (Las Vegas Sun).”

Emanuel trumpeted the drop as a “good sign.” He hyped statistics to the Associated Press showing that first-quarter 2013 murders in Chicago tied the same time period in 2009. Murders decreased 69 percent compared to the same month last year; first-quarter homicides fell by 42 percent compared to the same time frame last year. Emanuel insisted: “We are clearly having an impact on the homicides.”

But it’s all in how you slice, dice and spin it, of course.

Let’s face it. Gun-grabbers in Democratic-dominated cities have an institutional incentive to fudge the numbers. In New York City, which rivals Chicago when it comes to out-of-control gun-control regulations, a New York Police Department whistleblower recently exposed systemic manipulation of crime data.

As anti-Second Amendment crusader Michael Bloomberg made the rounds last spring touting the Big Apple as “the safest big city in America,” an internal NYPD report confirmed that more than a dozen crime reports had been manipulated — including felonies downgraded and incident reports deep-sixed — to lower the crime rate. As punishment for exposing the tampering and corruption, the whistle-blowing officer, Adrian Schoolcraft, who secretly taped the manipulation, was suspended and forced into a psych ward. He’s still fighting for justice and has never received an apology.

So, call me crazy, but I wouldn’t put it past Team Obama’s Chicago theater directors to goose their numbers to improve the optics for Dear Leader. Speaking of the lobbyist in chief, he parachuted into Colorado this week and surrounded himself with Denver police officer human props during a gun-control campaign event. The rank-and-filers were none too happy with being exploited for political purposes. “To protect and serve” is supposed to be a public safety imperative, not a campaign imperative.

But back to the Bloody City. In 2012, Chicago racked up the nation’s deadliest death toll, with 506 of its residents murdered. The murder rate has simply returned to its bloody business as usual over the past five years. Here’s the first-quarter death toll breakdown:

2013: 70

2012: 120

2011: 75

2010: 75

2009: 70

The Second City Cop crime blog adds that Emanuel’s claim regarding the homicide rate dropping to levels not seen since the 1950s “is based solely on the population decrease in the city of Chicago.
