GOP Congressman: Two days after Benghazi, Hillary screamed at Rep. for suggesting it was a terrorist attack

by Doug Powers on Sunday, August 18th, 2013

This is article 589 of 805 in the topic Terrorism

At least two parents of men killed in Benghazi have said Hillary Clinton told them personally that spontaneous anger over the video was the reason for the attack. According to a GOP congressman, Hillary got testy with anybody who tried to make her a liar:

An Illinois Republican congressman told constituents at a town hall meeting on Wednesday that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton screamed at a fellow member of Congress two days after a U.S. diplomatic station in Benghazi, Libya was destroyed, merely for saying aloud that the attack was carried out by terrorist groups.

The Obama administration later acknowledged that reality.

But White House officials initially maintained that the deaths of four Americans and the firebomb attack on the State Department mission was the result of a spontaneous protest against a low-budget YouTube film that was critical of the Muslim prophet Muhammad.

‘Two days after this attack,’ said Rep. Adam Kinzinger, ‘we were in a briefing with Hillary Clinton and she screamed at a member of Congress who’d dare suggest that this was a terrorist attack.’

That description of Sudden Talking Point Deviation Outburst Syndrome doesn’t seem hard to believe considering this was still Hillary’s demeanor over four months after the attack:

And of course, Susan Rice, who was at the time the U.S. ambassador to the U.N., was still out pushing the video story five days after the attack. That kind of steadfast loyalty to issued talking points earned Rice a promotion to national security adviser.

CNN’s O’Brien Urges Obama to “Track” People and Firearms

by Cliff Kincaid on Monday, December 17th, 2012

This is article 384 of 577 in the topic Media

The Washington Post story, “Media figures on left and right call for new gun-control laws,” hailed Soledad O’Brien of CNN for taking a stand in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings. Pretending to be an intellectual heavyweight on the subject, she declared on the channel that the problem in society is “access to semiautomatic weapons.”

O’Brien’s embarrassing outburst, which continued for several minutes during an interview with Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-Calif.), is another indication of why CNN fails to attract many viewers. I turned on CNN the morning after the tragedy occurred to get some basic facts and instead was forced to endure a liberal rant from Soledad O’Brien about what she thought should be done in light of what happened in Newtown, Connecticut.

In its story about the influence of these “prominent media figures,” the Post failed to note there is nothing sinister about “semiautomatic weapons.” These are weapons protected under the Second Amendment which a person fires one shot at a time. They are used for various purposes, including self-defense.

It appears that O’Brien may have been confusing “semiautomatic weapons” with automatic weapons.

If she did make this mistake, it would not be unusual for media coverage of a tragedy like this. The liberal media frequently jump to conclusions. In this case, they got basic facts wrong early in the story, including the name of the shooter.

We have learned over the period of many years that the media don’t care about the facts because they are pushing a liberal agenda of “gun control.” O’Brien has an agenda and doesn’t want to hear anything to the contrary. It is a mental state that does not serve the public interest and should not be featured on a channel that claims to provide news to its audience.

It is important for people to actually watch or read the exchange O’Brien had with Rep. Mack to understand the liberal fixation on guns rather than on other problems, such as mental illness, or other possible solutions, such as additional security for those at risk of being shot or killed.

O’Brien quickly labeled Mack a Republican and tried to put her on the defensive: “You support gun rights in this country. You’re a Republican, and I think that’s a position very consistent with most Republicans. What does meaningful action, that actually stops these kinds of shootings, look like to you?”

With this kind of introduction, O’Brien was making it clear that, in her view, Republicans were partly responsible for the tragedy. She was exploiting the tragedy for political gain, in order to bolster President Obama’s call for “meaningful action,” whatever that means.

Mack, a rather moderate Republican, replied, in part, that “the question for me is not just gun rights but mental health…And I think if we’re going to debate as a country, gun control, we need to debate what we can do better on mental, the mental health system.”

That the shooter was mentally deranged seems fairly obvious. Mack’s point was that society should address these mental problems. It was not something O’Brien wanted to dwell on. She granted the point but then quickly said, “But let’s go back to gun control. What do you think could be done to make people safe?

Hypocrisy Served With Rice

by John Myers on Wednesday, December 12th, 2012

This is article 50 of 118 in the topic Obama Appointments
Hypocrisy Served With Rice

There is no limit to the hypocrisy of the Administration of President Barack Obama. The latest example is the “green” President’s candidate for secretary of state, Susan Rice.

The Democrats have been hypercritical of many Republicans for lining up against a black woman who is Obama’s choice to replace Hilary Clinton to oversee the U.S. Department of State. The race card has once again been tossed into the ring.

Congress’ top-ranking black lawmaker says he suspects Republicans are pillorying Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, because she is black.

Criticism of Rice began after her Sept. 16 comments regarding the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Rice said the attack began as a “spontaneous reaction” to an anti-Islamic video widely watched in the Muslim world that had also set off protests elsewhere.

Later, we learned that simply was not the truth. According to the State Department, the attack that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans was not some spontaneous outburst but a well-executed attack organized and launched by a terrorist cell of al-Qaida.

Many right-thinking Americans were outraged by Rice’s characterization of the Libyan attack, including Representative Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., who penned a letter to President Barack Obama saying Rice’s public comments after the Benghazi attack “caused irreparable damage to her credibility both at home and around the world.”

According to the letter, which was signed by 96 other Congressmen, Rice “either willfully or incompetently misled the American public in the Benghazi matter.”

It said replacing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with Rice as “the face of U.S. foreign policy” in Obama’s second term “would greatly undermine your desire to improve U.S. relations with the world and continue to build trust with the American people.”

Democrats Play The Race Card

Representative James Clyburn, D-S.C., along with other black Democrats, say upset Republicans continually use variations of the word “incompetent” to describe Rice, a Rhodes Scholar and former senior fellow at The Brookings Institution.

Clyburn, who is the third-ranking House Democrat, told The Washington Post that the Republicans’ choice to be critical of Rice’s remarks is one thing, but calling her incompetent amounts to using racial “code words.”

“We in the South know what that means,” he said. “I take offense when people use those words. I have a problem with them. They are going to disagree with Rice’s politics, but if they do, just say she’s wrong,” Clyburn told The Post. “When you apply the word ‘incompetent,’ that personalizes this thing, it goes beyond politics, because it’s about who and what she is — it’s character assassination.”

If you accept Clyburn’s logic, you can’t say a black person is incompetent. If you do, you are making a racist remark.

And Clyburn isn’t alone in his beliefs. Congressional Black Caucus Chair Marcia Fudge suggested Rice was targeted by the GOP because of her race as well as her sex. (The Democratic Representative from Ohio must have forgotten that the GOP nominated Sarah Palin for Vice President four years ago while a black woman, Condoleezza Rice, was George W.

The Return of Howling Howard

by Jerry McConnell on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

This is article 115 of 201 in the topic Liberalism

Who let this raving madman back out into society again?  Someone, somewhere has been very remiss in his or her duties.

When this “news” flash appeared on my Internet screen,  I knew someone had failed us badly; former Democrat 2008 presidential candidate Howard Dean, last seen raving hysterically and wildly flailing his hands and arms in an uncontrolled cadence, loosely matching his rhetoric about “moving on” to “New Hampshire, South Carolina and on and on while uncontrolled spittle was being sprayed on anything within yards of where he was gyrating as if in a spasm, was once again on the loose and spewing vitriol at his usual target, anything Republican.

He has been mightily subdued for a few years, but it is once again presidential election time and Howard Dean is once again on the loose, physically as well as mentally.  His 2008 emotional freak-out during the presidential primary campaign occurred in a highly charged atmosphere and many feared that his mental gears had suffered damage from his unintentional outburst of rant while in fact merely throwing in the towel in the Democrat primary race for POTUS.

But like the movies say about Chucky, “He’s baaaaaaaaaack!”  This time, however, he’s not as hysterically disconnected as in 2008, but he is still just as factually uncoordinated in his claims of potential actions that the GOP has planned for our country should they continue in control of the House of Representatives and regain control of the U. S. Senate and Presidency.

Planned or not, all this began over a controversial Democrat political PAC ad and Dean’s emergence in its defense in a article on August 10, 2012. (Go to for further information.)

A online story also dated August 10, 2012 “Romney ad accuses Obama campaign of using woman’s death for ‘political gain’” explaining Romney’s campaign was condemning a Democrat ad that tied the GOP candidate with a woman’s death with an ad of their own saying the Obama campaign was attempting to “use the tragedy of a woman’s death for political gain.”

In what has become more routine than explanatory, the conspirators in the White House where Obama’s campaign fortress of professional liars sloughed off the accusation, making no effort to either condemn or deny the ad produced by a prominent pro-Obama super PAC.

In typical Democrat White House Press Secretary obfuscating fashion, Jay Carney said the president does not control “third party” ads.  He may be right, though, as George Soros is still pulling on the presidential puppet strings.  But more realistically, none of the denizens of that den of prevarication would ever admit to having any knowledge of anything except the weather in Aspen, Colorado, the anticipated venue of the next presidential mammoth, budget-busting entourage vacation.

But getting back to ‘Over-the-top’ Howard Dean you might be surprised to know that he is up to his eyebrows in the campaign to reelect our Usurper in Chief, Barack Hussein Obama and an ad which asserts Republicans want to end unemployment benefits.

Karzai Refers to US Forces as ‘Demons’

by Doug Powers on Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

This is article 644 of 1262 in the topic International

Time to play the “if I were US President” game: Hamid Karzai would wake up tomorrow morning and find that the Americans in his personal security entourage have been inexplicably pulled from duty.

From the New York Times:

The strongest such outburst came Friday. “Let’s pray for God to rescue us from these two demons,” Mr. Karzai said, apparently holding back tears at a meeting with relatives of the massacre victims, and clearly referring to the United States and the Taliban in the same breath. “There are two demons in our country now.”

He doesn’t seem to mind “demons” putting their lives on the line to protect him:

Karzai wants US troops out of Afghanistan, and it’s probably time he got his wish. At which point I have a feeling he’ll get a subsequent harsh lesson in “be careful what you ask for.”

Now We Know What News Matters to Our Attorney General

by Jimmie Bise Jr. on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

This is article 7 of 10 in the topic American Dream

Eric Holder has gotten just a tiny bit sensitive about the increasingly louder calls that he resign over the deadly Operation Fast and Furious. Yesterday, he threw a little hissy fit at a reporter who dared to ask him about an actual news story. .

As Holder’s aide was escorting the attorney general offstage following his remarks Tuesday afternoon at the White House, a Daily Caller reporter introduced himself and shook Holder’s hand. The reporter asked him for a response to the growing chorus of federal legislators demanding his resignation.

Holder stepped towards the exit, then turned around, stepped back toward the reporter, and sternly said, “You guys need to — you need to stop this. It’s not an organic thing that’s just happening. You guys are behind it.”

Holder then walked offstage without answering TheDC’s request for comment about calls for his resignation.

He then presumably went to his office for a glass of juice and a nap because that’s the cure for a bad case of crankypants.

We shouldn’t be surprised at Holder’s petulance. He’s never been known for being upfront and honest about the various corrupt schemes in which he’s embroiled himself in his relentless quest for political power. His political career has been one long example of failing upwards into positions of greater power and greater responsibility but less accountability to the citizens for whom he is supposed to work.

I’m curious about something else, though. Holder seems to have a pretty good handle on what the Daily Caller has written about him — this outburst was the second time he’s mentioned the website’s coverage of his role in Operation Fast and Furious. However, he testified under oath to Congress that he knew nothing of at least two important memos on the operation sent to him specifically.

[Nevada Senator John] Cornyn later followed by pointing out a July 5, 2010 memo and a Nov. 1, 2010 memo addressed to Holder referencing Operation Fast and Furious.Holder said it was “incorrect” that he received those memos.

Cornyn responded, “They were memos with your name on them referring to the Fast and Furious operation. Are you just saying you didn’t read them?”

Holder said, “I didn’t receive them. What happens is that these reports are prepared, they are reviewed by my staff.”

How, exactly, did that work? I didn’t see any indication that Cornyn tried to find out with a follow-up question. It makes me wonder what sort of office Holder is running. Operation Fast and Furious put some 2,000 guns in the hands of known killers. Those guns killed at least 200 Mexicans and at least one American law enforcement officer. He has no excuse for being as ill-informed as he testified he was.

However, he did have plenty of time to get up to speed on what the Daily Caller has been writing about him. Obviously news about Eric Holder is far more important to Eric Holder than status reports about an operation that killed dozens upon dozens of people and will kill even more before we get all the guns back. That is unacceptable to me and I hope it’s unacceptable to you as well.

What Country is This Happening In?

by Doug Powers on Thursday, March 10th, 2011

Last night I wrote about the Wisconsin GOPers in the Senate working around the Fleebaggers and voting to end collective bargaining rights for public employees.

Well, that’s it then… the protesters can just give up, go home, and settle this at the next election, right? Nah, they’ve decided to prove to the country why they’ve had way too much power and should never have more.

This isn’t Egypt or Libya… is it?

A highly connected source in Wisconsin politics tells Fox Nation all hell is breaking loose at the state capitol.

“Republican leadership was considering calling in SWAT teams or the National Guard. Plans have been set. We have almost completely lost control of the capitol building. Protesters now control the first and second floors and are amassing outside the governor’s office. The third and fourth floors are under control but we’re not sure what side our security is on. Law enforcement is leaking evacuation plans to the protesters. An official tried to evacuate through a secret underground tunnel and was turned back by protesters. No one is safe. Protesters have broken down doors, broken windows, Democrats are helping them into the building and they’re building momentum.

They’re accomplishing nothing except offering demonstrate of the dangers of letting thugs and their third-world dictatorial goon tactics have too much control over anything.

If these were Tea Partiers you might even see a wildly negative story about their “childish, immature outburst” on the network news, and the person banging on the door smacking the sign with MLK’s name on it would most certainly be used as evidence of racism:

UPDATE: Sources say: “Police control the lobby to the Assembly Chambers and they think they are in a position to take back control of the Assembly Chambers. However, right now all they control is the lobby.”

Shh! Nobody wake up Stinky!

“New civility” update:

MADISON – The State Department of Justice confirms that it is investigating several death threats against a number of lawmakers in response to the legislature’s move to strip employees of many collective bargaining rights.

Among the threats the Justice Department is investigationg is one that was emailed to Republican Senators Wednesday night. Newsradio 620 WTMJ has obtained that email.

The following is the unedited email:

Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks. Please explain to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell. Read below for more information on possible scenarios in which you will die.

Bachmann hits home run for tea party

by Lloyd Marcus on Thursday, January 27th, 2011

This is article 5 of 41 in the topic State of the Union

Hallelujah! Finally, We The People have a voice. It’s a bright new day! Rep. Michele Bachmann gave the Tea Party Movement response to Obama’s State of the Union (bait and switch) address.

In their astonishingly arrogant continuous effort to do everything in their power to “shut us up,” the liberal media is spinning Bachmann’s speech; calling it ridiculous, unnecessary, a family feud within the republican party and simply prep for her run for the White House.

Bottom line, the liberal media despises We The People having a voice. Bachmann said her response to President Obama’s State of the Union was just fulfilling a request to speak from the Tea Party Express. Thank you, Tea Party Express.

The liberal media was desperately hoping and even predicted the Tea Party Movement would fade away after the 2010 election. They still don’t “get it,” or should I say, “get us.”

The Tea Party Movement is growing in numbers and power; still birthing new groups. Heck, we even have a Black Tea Party; my fellow black patriots hosting tea parties in urban neighborhoods. Praise the Lord!” Please excuse my Christian outburst, but I am so excited!. Americans are awakening from their, “Obama, Night of the Living Brain Dead” zombie state of mind.

Special kudos to my patriot sister Bachmann. Her response to Obama’s silky empty words speech was focused, on target, fact-filled, confident and non politically correct “lets make nice nice.” Bachmann simply spoke the truth and common sense . Wow, what a concept.

WikiLeaked: China’s next president lashed out in Mexico against ‘well fed foreigners’

by Josh Rogin on Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

Not much is known about Xi Jinping, the expected next president of China, but according to a newly public WikiLeaks cable, Xi has been complaining to America’s neighbors about “well fed foreigners” pointing fingers at China.

In a February 2009 trip to Mexico, the first stop in Xi’s six country tour of Latin America, the current vice president of China blurted out his feelings about criticisms of Chinese diplomacy, according to a diplomatic cable classified by acting deputy chief of mission James Williard.

“There are some well fed foreigners who have nothing better to do than point fingers at our affairs,” Xi blurted out at a lunch meeting, appropriately. “China does not, first, export revolution; second, export poverty and hunger; third, cause troubles for you.”

Xi showed up with representatives of 20 Chinese companies in tow and made the case that China and Mexico have common cause to cooperate economically, as both are developing countries facing the consequences of a global financial crisis they didn’t cause. The embassy cable noted that Xi’s outburst seemed to reveal the Xi’s true feelings about America despite a more diplomatic message during the rest of his visit.

“It should be noted that his criticism of ‘well-fed foreigners’ sharply contrasted from the overarching cooperation theme of his visit and were delivered on the first leg of his trip in a country with strong ties to the United States,” the cable said.

The cable reported that Mexico was trying to correct its huge trade deficit with China and that Mexican officials were wary of China’s tactic of expanding economic activity in developing countries.

“We don’t want to be China’s next Africa,” a Mexican official told a U.S. embassy economics officer, according to the cable, referring to the oft-cited criticism that China has pursued a strategy of seizing the continent’s huge natural resources while dumping cheap industrial and manufactured products into foreign markets. “We need to own our country’s development.”

Two other recently released WikiLeaks cables also detailed China’s charm offensive in Latin America and skepticism on that continent of Chinese motives and practices.

“China’s strategy in Latin America is clear: it wants to ‘control the supply of commodities,’ said the Brazilian consul general in Shanghai,” according to one cable sent to Washington from the U.S. Shanghai consulate in April 2009.

“Colombia is wary of Chinese motives and what it sees as lax Chinese environmental and labor standards. However, Colombia needs new economic partners, particularly given the lack of progress on a U.S.-Colombia Free Trade agreement (FTA),” said another cable, conveying the views of Colombian diplomats as reported by the U.S. embassy in Beijing.

The cables paint a picture of an aggressive Chinese effort to insert state-owned companies into America’s backyard while Latin American countries have few options but to go along in the face of American neglect.

Xi, who is expected to succeed President Hu Jintao in 2012, has been intimately involved in those efforts, the cables show.

So how did his trip to Mexico go?

Loretta (Brixey) Sanchez’s Enemies List: Vietnamese and Republicans!

by John Lillpop on Sunday, September 26th, 2010

This is article 110 of 377 in the topic Elections

There is nothing quite as amusing as watching a liberal politician who has parlayed alleged racism into undeserved votes for more than a decade suddenly forced on the defensive over her own overt racism.

Such is the case with Democrat Loretta Brixey, who changed her surname to Sanchez upon learning that there were considerably more Hispanics than previously thought in the 46th District of Orange County which she was trying to wrest from Republican incumbent and Caucasian Bob Dornan in 1996.

Ultimately, Brixley’s name change, good enough to garner at least 1,000 votes from illegal aliens, catapulted the Democrat into the U.S. House of Representatives where she has misrepresented the good people of her district ever since.

However, that was then, this is now.

Now we have the self-righteous, but knot headed, Loretta Sanchez issuing a parsed-word apology for her outburst against her Vietnamese opponent, a good man and Republican, named Van Tran.

As reported, in part:

“SANTA ANA – Democratic Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez said Friday that her now-famous remark about “Vietnamese” trying to take her seat had been misinterpreted but apologized if it caused any offense.

“She did not, however, apologize for calling her Republican challenger Van Tran – himself an immigrant from Vietnam – anti-immigrant. Instead, she accused him of using her words to “take a cheap political shot

“Sanchez told an interviewer earlier this month on Spanish-language television that “the Vietnamese and the Republicans” were trying to wrest control of her seat in Congress. She described Tran in the same interview as “very anti-immigrant and very anti-Hispanic.”

“I used a poor choice of words that some people have taken as offensive,” Sanchez said during a small press conference late Friday afternoon. “Let me say as clearly as I can that if, through my inarticulate use of the language, I offended anyone, I apologize for those remarks.”

Given the throat-cutting, no holds barred, intensity of the 2010 elections, one can readily understand how a “poor choice of words” could inadvertently slip into one’s rhetoric, especially through the friendly microphones of a Spanish-language, biased TV broadcast.

But denigrating one for being Vietnamese AND Republican?

That is way over the line, even for a Pelosi Democrat!
