Syrian Islamists encouraging radical Muslims in Saudi Arabia

by Jim Kouri on Sunday, February 16th, 2014

This is article 1116 of 1260 in the topic International

The ongoing violent conflict between the regime of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad and the mixed-bag of rebel forces seeking his overthrow is having a negative impact throughout many Middle East nations, according to a statement released on Saturday by the chief of the Saudi Ideological Security Division (ISD).

The Saudi government’s view of the radicalism among the Syrian rebels as a trigger to increasing al-Qaeda‘s activities within the Saudi Kingdom, and a return to the days when Osama bin Laden was calling the shots for the world’s most infamous Muslim terrorist group. It didn’t help that Osama was a Saudi himself as were other al-Qaeda fighters.

The chief of the ISD, Abdulrahman al-Hadlaq said that Saudi law enforcement and security forces are increasingly their attention to terror-group recruiters who use the Internet to lure more fighters for worldwide jihad, including novice terrorists willing to perpetrate attacks in the United States and European Union countries.

Hadlaq claims that between 1,000 and 2,000 of Saudi Arabia‘s citizens traveled to Syria to join the Islamist factions fighting both President Assad’s modern military. The Saudi radicals also fight against the non-religious rebels, who wish to establish a democracy that’s unfettered by Islamic repression.

The Hadlaq’s ISD monitors Internet activity and reports to Saudi’s police and security if monitors uncover Islamist militants speaking in favor of jihad.

It is imperative that Saudi Arabia fight a “war of ideology” online, Hadlaq told reporters. “If we don’t do this, terrorists will come back and the terrorism issue will come back.”

US government and other experts have reported that Islamic extremism is on the rise and that the spread of Islamic extremism is the preeminent threat facing the United States. In addition, various sources alleged that Saudi Arabia is one source that has supported and funded the spread of Islamic extremism, or Wahhabism, globally, according to an Examiner news story.

Wahhabism is a fundamentalist movement, named after Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab (1703-1792). It remains the dominant form of Islam in Saudi Arabia.

The Myth of Islamic Extremism

by Daniel Greenfield on Thursday, November 14th, 2013

This is article 116 of 118 in the topic Muslims/Koran

The question of Islamic extremism has more relevance to Muslims than to non-Muslims. It’s mainly Muslims who are obsessed with Islamic extremism. And with good reason. As they so often point out; they tend to be its leading victims.

It’s not that Islamic extremism doesn’t exist. Islam, like every ideology, has its gradations. It’s that for Muslims, there is a great deal at stake in the battle over Islamic extremism. That battle will determine whether they can listen to music, play chess or watch soccer games. Whether men can shave their beards, women can drive cars, little girls can go to school and little boys can grow up learning anything except Koranic verses.

Non-Muslims however remain unequal no matter which brand of Islamic theocracy is in charge. And either way they remain fair game in their own countries.

Every leading form of Islam agrees that an Islamic society is perfect, that its laws perfect man and that imposing those laws on society is a religious duty. They may differ on whether those laws allow Muslims to vote or fly kites; but that is small consolation to the non-Muslims who lose their civil rights either way.

Islamic extremism is primarily concerned with imposing the extremities of Islamic law on Muslims. As part of its Islamization campaign, it will also kill and subjugate non-Muslims; but in this it is no different than so-called moderate Muslims.

Islamic societies are built around an Islamic law that makes non-Muslims second class citizens. Whether Islamic law is the basis of all legislation, as tends to be written in the constitutions of most “moderate” Muslim countries, or whether it actually is the legislation, makes a great deal of difference to Muslims who fear losing the ability to sing or play chess at the snap of a fatwa; but has less impact on non-Muslims who are still doomed to an unequal status.

What Western secular liberals insist on describing as extremism is really a reform movement seeking to purge innovations from the modern Islamic admixture that date back to the ideas and customs that Islamic empires absorbed from the cultures and peoples they conquered and subjugated.

Reform means major changes for the descendants of the Islamic conquerors who have learned to like the living standards of Islamic empires and don’t care for going back to the ways of their many times great-grandfathers who were desert nomads and violently suspicious of anything that resembled civilization.

It doesn’t change things nearly as much for the non-Muslim minorities who were conquered by those Islamic empires. Life for them would become worse if the Salafists were to take over. But the difference lies in the degrees of subjugation. There is no Islamic option for equal rights.

The dilution of Islam through secularism made life more livable for the Muslim conquerors who wanted to enjoy life in their new dominions in Egypt, the Persian Empire, Byzantium or India. They were less concerned with the comfort of the conquered; the Christians, Jews, Hindus, Zoroastrians and others groaning under their rule. Their increased freedom is an unanticipated and undesired aspect of the general liberalizing of standards that is the first thing to go when the reaction begins.

Salafis are more likely to engage in acts of terror against Western targets.

CAIR: ‘Not Acceptable’ to Portray Jihadists As ‘Savage’ – Tell that to the 14-year old girl shot in the head for wanting to attend school!

by Stephen Levine on Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

This is article 25 of 31 in the topic Hate Speech

It always angers me when I see blatant terrorist propaganda spewed on American airwaves and in the mainstream media – especially when the propagandists are treated as a legitimate voice and when they are continuing to use our own laws against us.

My position is relatively clear …

CAIR: ‘Not Acceptable’ to Portray Jihadists As ‘Savage’

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is launching an ad campaign to counter billboards posted in the D.C. metro system that urge the defeat of jihad and support for Israel. CAIR claims the anti-jihad advertisements, sponsored by political activist Pamela Geller, inspire “hate.” They are designed to “provoke, stigmatize and demonize” Muslims, CAIR told

One of the Geller ad reads: “In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad.” asked CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper to explain how the ad is hate speech. “Can you just elaborate more on how the ad is hate speech?  It is directed against Jihad, right? So is that something you’re also against?”

“If you look at Pam Geller’s history, everything she’s done over her entire career is designed to incite, designed to provoke, designed to stigmatize Muslims and demonize Islam,” Hooper said.  “And this is the same thing.” “It’s not so much the reference to jihad–that’s a debatable point–but it’s the reference to savages,” he added.  “When you paint anyone on another side of the issue as a savage, that’s just not acceptable.”

“Even those that use violence for radical Islamic extremism?” asked. “That’s her argument,” Hooper said.  “We don’t accept her argument.”

They, being Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR, do not accept her argument that Jihadists are savages marks them as blind, ignorant or both. How the hell does he explain a religion that allows and uses barbaric torture, rape and mutilation – not to mention honor killings – as anything less than savage and barbaric? Jihad is the way of the sword – not peace, not tolerance for other viewpoints – death or subjugation.

Our constitution is not a suicide pact – letting our enemies use our laws to defeat us from within. The idea – promoted by the Obama Administration and other liberals – that moral equivalency and multi-culturalism is an excuse for bad behavior will not fly. We do not have to accept their culture as moral, just or even as deserving to be preserved.

Without Israel, these savages would simply attack each other – as they have done for centuries – over who is the rightful heir to the religion’s top mantle.

The big lie …

In response to Geller’s ads, which are now posted in four locations in the D.C. metro system, CAIR will run three billboards featuring a Koran verse that states, “Show forgiveness, speak for justice and avoid the ignorant.”

Show me the justification for shooting an innocent 14-year old girl in the head for simply wanting an education – and then claiming religious and moral justification because Allah made man superior over  women.

Egyptian faux-rage, deadly American dhimmitude, and the return of Islamic Rage Boy; Update: US Ambassador to Libya, Foreign Service officer, two Marines dead

by Michelle Malkin on Thursday, September 13th, 2012

This is article 93 of 118 in the topic Muslims/Koran

What a disgusting and disastrous, but wholly predictable, way to end this day. As you may have heard, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo chose the 11th anniversary of 9/11 to apologize for “hurt Muslim feelings” as radical Egyptian clerics stoked faux-rage over an obscure documentary attacking Islamic extremism. The Obama administration’s mortifying apology, of course, did not mollify the Muslim agitators. Appeasement has never mollified the practitioners of the Religion of Perpetual Outrage.

Naturally, the Muslim mob stormed the Embassy compound, anyway — and the pretextual violence spread to Libya, where an American State Department worker was killed today* (UPDATE: FOUR killed, including the US Ambassador to Libya and Foreign Service information officer Sean Smith, along with TWO U.S. MARINES). The feckless State Department has deleted its groveling tweet and the White House is in pathetic damage control mode.

UPDATE: And now, of course, the Muslim Brotherhood is calling for worldwide protests.

Let’s cut through the diplomatic blather and Obama State Department’s p.c. charade. This isn’t about ordinary Egyptian Muslims being offended by Koran-burning or some genuine outcry for religious tolerance or widespread anger over how Mohammed is being portrayed. It’s about Egyptian imams and Muslim Brotherhood propagandists concocting any excuse for a violent anti-Western conflagration.

Look with your eyes:

Though the film was the focus of demonstrators’ outrage, the spirited protest amounted to more of a general outpouring of grievances against U.S. policy in the Islamic world. Several signs and chants decried the U.S.-led invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as American support for Israel.

Many recalled the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, that killed thousands of U.S. citizens 11 years earlier.

“Obama! Obama! We are all Osama!” went one chant, referring to Osama bin Laden, the late head of Al Qaeda, the militant Islamist organization widely believed to be responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

I’m reprinting my 9/11 remembrance column from two years ago as a refresher course on the “Islamic Rage Boy” phenomenon. He represents the professional Muslim grievance-monger, always at the ready to protest whatever manufactured insult could be exploited to curse the West. The late Christopher Hitchens wrote on the futility of appeasing the worldwide Rage Boy mob — a theme I’ve struck here for years, and which bears repeating again.

Lest you need reminding: 9/11 was a deliberate, carefully planned evil act of the long-waged war on the West by Koran-inspired soldiers of Allah around the world. They hated us before George W. Bush was in office. They hated us before Israel existed. And the avengers of the religion of perpetual outrage will keep hating us no matter how much we try to appease them. The post-9/11 problem isn’t whether we’ll forget. The problem is: Will we ever learn?

Shhhhhhh, we’re told. Don’t protest the Ground Zero mosque. Don’t burn a Koran. It’ll imperil the troops. It’ll inflame tensions. The “Muslim world” will “explode” if it does not get its way, warns sharia-peddling imam Feisal Abdul Rauf. Pardon my national security-threatening impudence, but when is the “Muslim world” not ready to “explode”?

At the risk of provoking the ever-volatile Religion of Perpetual Outrage, let us count the little-noticed and forgotten ways.

Napolitano releases deceptive terrorism report, says legal watchdog

by Jim Kouri on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

This is article 252 of 804 in the topic Terrorism

The Obama administration is the epitome of the politically correct orthodoxy, say detractors. Credit: WH Press Office

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano’s latest contribution this week to the protection of Americans appears to ignore the most deadly and destructive groups on the planet — Islamic terrorists — say security and law enforcement experts.

A Department of  Homeland Security report released on February 2 compares terrorism to “ordinary crime” in metropolitan U.S. cities and omits the radical Islamic factor, instead finding “significant variability in the ideologies motivating terrorist attacks across decades.”

This appears to be part of the Obama Administration’s Muslim outreach effort, which includes hiring a special Homeland Security adviser Mohamed Elibiary who supports a radical Islamist theologian and renowned jihadist ideologue.

The Obama Justice Department also created a special Muslim Engagement Advisory Group to foster greater communication, collaboration and a new level of respect between law enforcement and Muslim and Arab-American communities, according to officials at the non-partisan watchdog group, Judicial Watch.

In addition, on January 17 Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, Attorney General Eric Holder and Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism John Brennan met with senior state, local and tribal law enforcement officials to discuss the President Barack Obama’s Strategic Implementation Plan for Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States.

What surprised many of the attendees was the fact that not once did Napolitano mention Islamic extremismor Muslim terrorists. Many of the police commanders attending found the presentation to be a “vague and politically correct exercise.

Those invited were sheriffs and chiefs of police from states, cities and counties throughout the U.S., including representatives from the organizations such as International Association of Chiefs of Police, Major Cities Chiefs Association, National Sheriffs’ Association, National Native American Law Enforcement Association, Governors Homeland Security Advisors Council, Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council, International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, and others.

And, in 2010, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano held secret meetings with radical Arab, Muslim, Sikh and South Asian “community leaders.” Judicial Watch uncovered documents from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that includes a list of the individuals who participated, including radical leaders such as Hezbollah supporter Imad Hamad and extremist Salam Al-Marayati, founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council.

Considering this cozy relationship, the new DHS terrorism report should come as no surprise. It compares terrorist attacks to “ordinary crime” in large, metropolitan areas which is why the nation’s terrorism “hot spots” are Manhattan, Los Angeles County, Miami-Dade County Florida, San Francisco County and Washington, D.C.

As if to downplay the distinct difference between crashing a plane into a high-rise and a mugging, the DHS says “terrorism and ordinary crime occur in many of the same areas.”

It stresses that the “Ideological motivation” for terrorist attacks varies greatly. For instance, the brilliant DHS minds found that certain counties are prone to a particular type of terrorist attack, including extreme right-wing, ethno-nationalist/separatist and “religiously motivated,” though no specific religion is mentioned. The report does point out however, that “religiously motivated attacks occurred predominately in the 1980s.”

Terrorism is also linked to social economic status, poverty, residential instability and “ethnic heterogeneity,” a dramatic change in the urban landscape caused by massive numbers of immigrants.

U.K. cops nab suspected Islamic terror cell

British police say a seventh man has been arrested on Thursday in a counterterrorism operation that began earlier this week.

West Midlands Police said the 20-year-old was detained on suspicion of “the commission, preparation or instigation” of a terrorism act.

Seven other terrorism suspects — six men and one woman — were arrested on Sunday and Monday as part of a widespread counter-terrorism raid by police officers.

In a statement released by West Midlands Police said the six men, all between the ages of 25 and 32, were suspected of commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism within the United Kingdom.

Officials said the arrests related to Islamic extremism and were one of the year’s most significant anti-terror operations.

The suspected terrorist cell members were arrested at or in the vicinity of their home addresses by police officers between approximately 11:30 PM Sunday and 1 AM Monday (U.K. time).

The 22-year old female suspect was apprehended by police for alleged failing to disclose information she possessed about the suspected terrorist plot.

“[This] operation is in its early stages so we are unable to go into detail at this time about the nature of the suspected offenses,” said Assistant chief constable Marcus Beale in the press statement.

“However, I believe it was necessary to take action at this time in order to ensure public safety,” Beale added.

The seven suspects are currently being held for questioning at a police station in the West Midlands Police area, while searches at some locations are being conducted by specialist teams, the police statement said.

The terrorism threat level in England, Wales and Scotland remained unchanged at “substantial” on Monday, meaning that a terrorist attack is a “strong possibility.”

All the wrong 9/11 lessons
by Michelle Malkin

Are your kids learning the right lessons about 9/11? Ten years after Osama bin Laden’s henchmen murdered thousands of innocents on American soil, too many children have been spoon-fed the thin gruel of progressive political correctness over the stiff antidote of truth.

“Know your enemy, name your enemy” is a 9/11 message that has gone unheeded. Our immigration and homeland security policies refuse to profile jihadi adherents at foreign consular offices and at our borders. Our military leaders refuse to expunge them from uniformed ranks until it’s too late (see: Fort Hood massacre). The j-word is discouraged in Obama intelligence circles, and the term “Islamic extremism” was removed from the U.S. national security strategy document last year.

Similarly, too many teachers refuse to show and tell who the perpetrators of 9/11 were and who their heirs are today. My own daughter was one year old when the Twin Towers collapsed, the Pentagon went up in flames and Shanksville, Pa., became hallowed ground for the brave passengers of United Flight 93. In second grade, her teachers read touchy-feely stories about peace and diversity to honor the 9/11 dead. They whitewashed Osama bin Laden, militant Islam and centuries-old jihad out of the curriculum. Apparently, the youngsters weren’t ready to learn even the most basic information about the evil masterminds of Islamic terrorism.

Mary Beth Hicks, author of the new book “Don’t Let the Kids Drink the Kool-Aid,” points to a recent review of 10 widely used textbooks in which the concepts of jihad and sharia were either watered down or absent. These childhood experts have determined that grade school is too early to delve into the specifics of the homicidal clash of Allah’s sharia-avenging soldiers with the freedom-loving Western world.

Yet, many of the same protectors of fragile elementary-school pupils can’t wait to teach them all the ins and outs of condoms, cross-dressers and crack addictions.

We pulled our daughter out of a cesspool of academic and moral relativism and found a reality-grounded, rigorous charter school where no-nonsense teachers refuse to sugarcoat inconvenient facts and history. Many of the students are children of soldiers and servicemen and women who — inspired by the heroes of 9/11 — have voluntarily deployed time and time again to kill the American Dream destroyers abroad before they kill us over here.

There’s no better way to hammer home the message that “freedom is not free” than to have your kids go to school with other kids whose dads and moms are gone for years at a time — missing births and birthday parties, recitals and soccer practice, Christmas pageants and Independence Day fireworks.

But instead of unfettered pride in our armed forces, social justice educators in high schools and colleges across the country indoctrinate American students into viewing our volunteer armed forces as victims, monsters and pawns in a leftist “social struggle.”

A decade after the 9/11 attacks, Blame America-ism still permeates classrooms and the culture.

An Inaugural Fail

by Alan Caruba on Thursday, June 16th, 2011

We are all now so accustomed to Barack Obama’s delivery of a speech and have heard so many Tele-Prompter recitations that his habit of raising his chin, of gazing off into some future only he perceives, and his now-annoying way of breaking a sentence into small chunks that render it a monotony is taken for granted.

After all the campaign speeches he delivered in 2008, the carefully-staged events, by January 20, 2009 the nation was ready to hear what the then-new President, the 44th, had to say. With the exception of John F. Kennedy’s inaugural speech and one or both of Lincoln’s, few such speeches are long remembered.

President Obama’s was no exception and, as he begins his campaign to be reelected, it seemed to me a good time to revisit it.

Believe it or not, he began by saying “I stand here today humbled by the task before us…” and I daresay there are few who would apply the word ‘humble’ to Barack Hussein Obama, then or now.

Here was a man who had already written two memoirs about a life without any of the touchstones of achievement we normally look for. He had never run a business or met a payroll. As a legislator, he was either absent or voted for liberal programs without fail.

He had leaped swiftly from being an obscure Illinois state legislator to being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004. By February 10, 2007 he announced he was a candidate for President.

By November 2008 he was elected. It is a cliché to note that virtually the whole of the nation’s mainstream media did everything in its power to secure that outcome.

As he continued with his inaugural speech, Obama acknowledged that “Our nation is at war against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred”, but we would learn in the months that followed that Obama would never put a name to it, never identify it as an Islamic terrorism network and, following the Fort Hood shooting, it would take weeks before the words “Islamic extremism” were even applied to it.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the inaugural speech was its rather mundane enumeration of the huge economic problems that faced the nation at the time. “We will act, not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth.”

Based on his words, that speech was a huge fail. Based on the actions taken or not taken by his administration, jobs by the millions disappeared. The housing market is one of foreclosures from coast to coast. Consumer spending and consumer confidence remains stagnant.

We were, said Obama, to ask “not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works…where the answer is no, programs will end.” Instead, his administration embarked on huge spending programs dubbed “stimulus” that vastly increased the national debt and, by common agreement, achieved little or nothing to get the economy moving.

As this is written, the Obama administration adamantly refuses to agree to any spending cuts in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.

Beer, Ham and Muslim Shoes

by Daniel Greenfield on Saturday, June 11th, 2011

The UK Home Secretary has warned about complacency in the face of Islamic extremism. But there are no worries about complacency when it comes to things that irritate Muslims. As a drunken fellow from Bristol found out when decided it would be funny to stuff pieces of ham into the shoes of mosquegoers. Twenty years ago this might have made for an amusing limerick. Today it’s a possible two year jail term.

“It is difficult to imagine a more offensive incident”, said Her Honour Judge Carol Hagen. Her Honour clearly lacks imagination. But even if she can’t imagine a pig with a burning koran in its mouth being catapulted in the direction of Mecca, there is the teacher who was savagely beaten by Muslim thugs for the crime of teaching Muslim girls. Smashing in a man’s face seems worse than some ham in a shoe.

The prosecutor harrumphed that pork products in shoes were a “premeditated attack specifically targeted at the Muslim community”. As premeditated attacks go, this has more in common with Dr. Seuss, than with the sort of attacks that the Muslim community specializes in. When the Muslim community launches a premeditated attack, there’s burning rubble and body parts that have to be scraped up off the sidewalk. The only thing that had to be scraped off this time around was stale pork.

Not to be left behind in the misplaced outrage sweepstakes, the ham stuffer’s attorney called it, “a brutal, misconceived, drunken prank.” It was doubtlessly drunken, but how brutal was it? On a scale of silly to brutal, putting pork in shoes ranks somewhere below a water bucket over the door and above a joy buzzer. But when even your own lawyer describes something that has more in common with a Dada art exhibit, than the savage beating of a teacher, as brutal, then there isn’t anyone left to make the case for you.

Objectively speaking the actual damage performed by a little bit of pig was negligible. And it hard to say that a slice of ham is particularly threatening, except to a pig. But Western countries have learned to harshly punish those who offend Muslims, not because of the crime itself, but its potential to set off a murderous response by the Muslims themselves. For all that the politicians pretend that they’re cracking down on those who make the poor Muslim dears feel unwelcome in Albion, Columbia or Marianne, in the name of human rights, it’s the explosive reaction that they’re worried about.

Forget noble and think Nobel, not the prize, but the formula that has become the new Muslim scripture. C3H5(NO3)3 is the true 99th name of Allah. Hidden under bulky clothes on a plane or metro platform, it sends the Muslim to his virgin demon paradise and sends politicians scrambling to wall off any scenario where more Muslims will be inclined to study wiring diagrams and Koran verses in equal measure.
