One elderly woman dead, three others hospitalized

We are following an incident aboard a Via Rail Canada passenger train traveling from Vancouver, BC to Toronto, Ontario Canada involving the death of one elderly passenger and the reported illness of at least three others. The train, containing 200 passengers and a crew of 13, departed Vancouver on December 25, 2012 and was scheduled to arrive in Toronto at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29.

At approximately 5:00 a.m. Saturday, the train made an unscheduled stop at a station located near Parry Sound, Ontario after it was reported that four passengers occupying the same area of the train were suffering from severe flu-like symptoms. Upon arrival at the station, it was found that an 86 year-old female had died. Three other passengers were taken from the train to a nearby hospital. The two rooms occupied by the affected passengers were quarantined and will be sterilized.

An inquiry made by this writer with the Ontario Provincial Police early this morning confirmed the death of one person and the hospitalization of three others, although the current condition of those hospitalized could not be verified. According to the Ontario Provincial Police, only passengers in one area of the train were affected, although health officials will be monitoring reports of illness among any of the other passengers.

The passenger train arrived in Toronto six-an-a-half hours later than scheduled yesterday. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on the deceased woman in Toronto today. The type of virus has yet to be identified. We will continue to follow this incident and report updates as warranted.

Editor’s note: This agency would like to acknowledge the contribution of Ontario resident Ivan W. to this story.

How dare the San Bernardino City Attorney to tell the residents of his city to protect themselves …

According to the City of San Bernardino police, a son found the body of his 76-year-old mother, Mary Elizabeth Blaskey, in her ransacked San Bernardino home where she apparently was killed by someone who then stole her car.

In a town hall-style meeting to discuss the impact of the City’s municipal bankruptcy on policing and the slaying of Mary Blaskey, San Bernardino City Attorney Jim Penman told the approximately 200 attendees to “go home, lock their doors and load their guns.”

According to City Councilwoman Wendy McCammack who called the meeting, “The city has had three homicides in less than two weeks and 43 this year. the City of San Bernardino. “We’re down 80 cops. It makes it tough to police a city this size, especially with the parolee population, to get a handle on the proper amount of patrols in every neighborhood.”

The liberals are outraged …

SB City Attorney spouts inflammatory remarks at town hall meeting

Well, San Bernardino City Attorney Jim Penman has done it again.

At a town hall meeting prompted by an elderly woman’s slaying last week, he told an overflow crowd of worried residents to go home, lock their doors and load their guns.

That’s right, to load their guns.

A recipe for survivor-mentality vigilantism and accidental shootings. Nice work, Mr. Penman.

The inflammatory remarks at the town hall meeting at Arrowhead Country Club came as Police Chief Rob Handy was taking questions from residents upset about increased panhandling and a homeless encampment near a freeway exit in their well-heeled neighborhood.

Handy told the crowd of more than 200 people that panhandling laws are inadequate to fix the problem and that panhandlers, when arrested, are quickly released from jail.

Penman elbowed his way to the microphone and told the crowd police in the bankrupt city would not be able to protect them and that they should arm themselves inside battened-down homes.

First of all, stirring up more fear among residents is irresponsible. People already have a distorted sense of how dangerous the city is. Truth be told, the vast majority of homicides are of people with risky lifestyles such as gang activity.

Second, Penman’s incendiary comments undermine the police at a time when the department is already in turmoil. Nearly 30 sworn-officer positions are vacant as part of the city’s plan to reduce a $46 million deficit and emerge from bankruptcy.

Penman didn’t need to undermine public confidence in the police department’s ability to keep the city safe. Handy said it can get by with 260 officers.

Penman owes the police and the residents an apology for an ill-timed, unwise statement when San Bernardino least needed it.

But he doesn’t care about that. Creating drama is his style.

Sounds reasonable to me …

Penman told CBS Los Angeles: “Well, if I remember right, I told them to ‘lock their doors and load their guns.’ Let’s be honest, we don’t have enough police officers. We have too many criminals living in this city.

We are true Americans – we will NOT submit

by Douglas J. Hagmann on Wednesday, July 4th, 2012

This is article 76 of 105 in the topic Preserving America

Most readers will likely recall the recent disturbing footage of 68 year-old Karen Klein, the monitor of bus 784 servicing the Athena Middle School in the Rochester suburb of Greece, NY. A group of about four young teens bullied this woman to tears on one of the final rides of the school year. She made national news after the cell phone footage, reportedly taken by one of her tormentors, appeared on YouTube. Public outrage was fast and furious, quickly followed by an outpouring of support for the elderly Ms. Klein after she appeared on various national news programs to recount her ordeal.

In some ways, the situation involving Ms. Klein has become a virtual example of what is taking place to all Americans. During the extended period of harassment, Ms. Klein did not fight back against her harassers, even when the harassment rose to the level of simple assault. The chances are good that had she chosen to fight back, she would have been on her own, with no one coming to her aid. The bus driver was either oblivious to the actions of the punks and thugs, or more likely, simply chose not to intervene. Other physically capable student passengers, having only slightly less immorality than their tormenting counterparts, refrained from engaging in the harassment yet chose not to assist or otherwise protect the elderly woman.

We’ve all seen this type of aggressive behavior by bullies, thugs and punks time and again, if not in real life then on television or film. It’s sickening, disgusting and inexcusable. Anyone with any degree of benevolence had to feel compassion for the woman, and they did, based on the outpouring of moral and financial and support from people all over the world. God bless those who were moved to assist this lady in an effort to mitigate her emotional pain.

Is Mrs. Klein a model of today’s American?

There is a bigger issue, however, that seems to have slipped by nearly everyone. It would appear to many that the majority of  Americans have become a nation of professional victims. Somewhere during the last few generations, it appears that the majority of us Americans have lost the will to fight back, to intervene, to say “enough!”

A half-century ago, the Klein scenario would probably not have played out as we observed it on YouTube. A century ago, such behavior would have been an aberration, and any contemporaneous punishment meted out to the punks harassing Mrs. Klein would have been unconstrained by lawyers drooling for a piece of the civil litigation certain to ensue. We did not need a group of psychiatrists or psychologists to dissect the behavior of the miscreants, or worse, to analyze and explain it.  We certainly don’t need more sensitivity training, or a group of diversity experts thrust upon us to attempt to solve an issue caused by their unwillingness to recognize evil for what it is.

Like Islamic Sharia law and democracy, good and evil will never be able to co-exist. America cannot exist if no one stands up against those adherents and purveyors pushing evil under the color of diversity and tolerance.

Democrats responsible for black culture of anger

by Lloyd Marcus on Friday, April 6th, 2012

This is article 77 of 166 in the topic Racism

Black twenty-year-old male Danielle Simpson with two black associates were interrupted by 84 year old Geraldine Davidson while in the process of burglarizing her home. They duct taped her mouth, bound her hands and legs and threw the white former school teacher and church organist into the trunk of her own car. Ms Davidson was severely brutalized before the trio eventually tied a rope attached to a cinder block around her legs and threw her, still alive, into the river.

Brutal crimes are not unique.

But, here is what makes this case remarkable. For seven hours, Simpson rode around in Ms Davidson’s car stopping for fast food and opening the truck to show off his victim to his black friends. Due to fingerprints left on the car, detectives estimate that around ten people viewed Ms Davidson in the trunk.

Incredibly, not one person called the police or lobbied to set the poor elderly woman free. What could possibly harden these black youths to such an extent?

Perhaps one of the detective investigating the case nailed it when he described the black criminals and their friends as part of a “culture of anger.”

For the murder of Ms Davidson, in 2009, Danielle Simpson was executed by Lethal injection in Texas.

Fast forward to the democrat led Trayvon Martin rallies across America. If justice was their true motivation, they would allow the case to unfold. To demand Zimmerman be arrested without knowing the facts is absurd and irresponsible. The democrat’s obvious purpose for their race rallies is to fuel the eternal flames of their well-nurtured “culture of anger.”

Sadly, democrat efforts to cultivate black anger is bearing much fruit. Before the Trayvon Martin incident, black flash mobs were attacking white strangers across America.

The horrific rape/murder of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom received scant publicity because it was seen as politically incorrect to publicize a beautiful white couple being brutalized by five black thugs.

Exploiting Trayvon Martin to fuel the Democrat’s culture of anger, Democrat US Rep. Bobby Rush spoke to the House wearing a “hoodie.” Rush assumed Martin was racially profiled and said, “just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum.” Yet another example of a Democrat jumping the gun to further their storyline before all the facts are in.

Sixties radical, Angela Davis faithfully contributed to the Democrat’s culture of anger. Davis said Trayvon’s story is not unique. According to Davis, blacks are physically attacked by whites all the time. Davis also accused white America of systematic racism against blacks. Will someone please inform Ms Davis that a black man is leader of the free world solely because millions of white Americans voted for him. At only 12% of the US population, black votes alone could not have put the Obama’s in the White House.

The Trayvon Martin incident has afforded the Democrats a golden opportunity to build upon their culture of anger. Al Sharpton said “Enough is enough!” Jessie Jackson said, “Blacks are under attack!”

So, according to US Rep. Bobby Rush, Angela Davis, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, the majority of Democrat leaders, pundits and the democrat supportive mainstream media, black Americans are routinely physically attacked by whites. Is there any wonder why millions of black Americans are fuming in a culture of anger?

A cure for Republicans caved on the debt ceiling blues

by Lloyd Marcus on Thursday, August 4th, 2011

This is article 6 of 10 in the topic American Dream

As I left the store, a blue shirted elderly woman sporting a warm smile said, “Thank you for shopping at Walmart..”For some reason, it struck me, “Wow, all this was started by one man, Sam Walton.”

I caught a bit of the Walmart story while flipping through the channels a few days earlier. Walton’s wife said, “We were finally out of debt and living comfortably. But, that was not enough for Sam. He had an idea for a new store.”

A businessman on the TV program said, “I liked Sam. So, when he showed me his new store, I leveled with him. I said it was the worst store I had even seen and could never work. Thank God Sam did not listen to me.”

Sam Walton following his dream, passion and vision created a worldwide phenomenon employing two million associates in the U.S.; one man affecting the lives of mega millions. Wow!

Patriots, like so many of you, I am extremely frustrated by the debt ceiling deal. We worked our butts off to get tea party candidates elected and the Republicans still caved. Our country is disappearing and this latest fiasco in DC left me feeling pretty helpless to change anything.

But, that little old lady thanking me for shopping at Walmart, Sam Walton’s legacy, reminded me of the power and impact of just one man. I felt inspired.

I am only one man. Despite political betrayals, with all that is within me, I will stay diligent in my efforts to free my beloved country from this vile, tyrannous and evil enemy within known as Barack Hussein Obama in 2012.

History is full of individuals like Sam Walton who changed the world. Patriots, each of us possess more power than we can imagine. Please, please, please do not give up. Stay committed to do your part to take back America.

Like Sam Walton, one committed man or woman can make a world of difference.

Raising America’s Debt Ceiling – Policy

by Jason Whitman on Sunday, July 24th, 2011

This is article 66 of 526 in the topic Government Spending

The current discussion and debate on the debt ceiling have been both contentious and highly partisan in nature. It has effectively highlighted the differences in the fiscal policy positions of the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. Those differences are both stark and highly important.

The national debt stands at about 14.3 trillion dollars. The debt ceiling is also 14.3 trillion dollars. The concern, now that we have reached the debt ceiling limit, is will America default on the national debt? This risk has been further highlighted by rating houses Moody’s, as well as Standard & Poor’s threatening to lower the credit rating of U.S. sovereign debt.

With the United States House of Representatives now under the control of Republicans, there is a significant battle over whether or not the debt ceiling will be raised, and if it is raised will it be accompanied by substantial reforms to spending? House Republicans introduced legislation in H.R.2560, Cut, Cap, and Balance Act of 2011. The purpose of this legislation was to impose real spending cuts, cap the amount of government spending to a percentage of GDP, and propose a Constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget (BBA). Bill H.R.2560 passed the House on July 19, 2011 with a roll call vote of 234-190.

The Democratic response to this legislation [H.R. 2560] and Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget plan has been to do nothing. The President proposed a budget that was so outrageous it was defeated in the U.S. Senate 97-0. The Democratic-controlled Senate has not produced a budget in over 800 days. Democrats have produced no credible plan to deal with America’s spending crisis. Indeed, any proposed reform to entitlements, the largest portion of non-discretionary spending, has been met with stonewalling and disingenuous campaign ads depicting Republicans pushing an elderly woman over a cliff. The Democrats have also indicated that revenue enhancements must be part of any discussions on spending cuts.

Republicans do not feel that the answer to America’s spending problems should include new taxes, particularly in-light of the current economic climate. Raising taxes will damage any effort to decrease unemployment and will still not solve the spending crisis. The American people have been clear that they want Congress to curb spending, not increase taxes.  In a recent Gallup Poll, 50% of Americans were found to oppose any tax hikes as part of the deficit crisis discussions.

The Republican solution to the deficit and debt ceiling discussions should oppose any strategy without real, actual spending cuts (Remember, the spending cuts promised to President Reagan by the Democratically-controlled Congress never materialized). Spending must be capped at a reasonable percentage of GDP. A balanced budget amendment makes sense and should be sent to the states for ratification. It [BBA] is particularly critical to control future spending. Having a debt ceiling but having to discuss raising it repeatedly is indicative of a massive disconnect between fiscal reality and Democrats plan’s for an unending spending spree.

**Update 7/22/2011 – House Bill H.R.2560 (CCB) was killed in the U.S. Senate by Majority Leader Harry Reid in a partisan-lines vote 51-46, preventing a vote on the floor.

New Mediscare Ad: Paul Ryan Throws Gramma From a Cliff

by Doug Powers on Thursday, May 19th, 2011

The Weekly Standard points out that the creators of this ad, The Agenda Project, have a stated goal to “build a powerful, intelligent, well-connected political movement capable of identifying and advancing rational, effective ideas in the public debate and in so doing ensure our country’s enduring success.” Or just portray people with different political philosophies as murderers — whichever is most expedient.

What’s most surprising is that, in the ad, the Paul Ryan character keeps the wheelchair and doesn’t dump it over the cliff along with gramma to intentionally litter the environment and perpetuate global warming.

Will we eventually see a higher budget Medicare sequel starring Andy Griffith doing a little involuntary octogenarian base jumping courtesy of the evil GOP? Perhaps:

Fun fact: According to Chris Matthews, there/s a 50/50 chance that the elderly woman in the wheelchair was one of his viewers.
