EMERGENCY NOTICE: Obama to rip-off taxpayers — turns “Obama for America” campaign into a non-profit, tax-exempt, secret organization to hide donors?

by Stephen Levine on Monday, January 21st, 2013

This is article 806 of 996 in the topic Obama

President Obama and his fellow travelers appear to represent a clear and present danger to our nation. Not only by pursuing policies which seem to provide aid and comfort to our enemies, taxpayer money to the special interests, skirting the legislation-making duty and oversight of Congress,  and cloaking their actions in a veil of secrecy – now they are forming a secret organization to aid and abet the continuing corruption in politics.

The perpetual campaign continues — now behind a veil of secrecy …

One of Obama’s biggest lies has been that his Administration is open, transparent and accountable. Now we are seeing that Obama is planning to his campaign “Obama for America” into a 501 (c) 4 non-profit organization. Of course, Obama is claiming that this organization will “voluntarily” disclose its donors – although it is under no legal obligation to do so. Considering the Obama campaign’s refusal to vet online contributions for ineligible foreign money – although it required such verification to buy an Obama tee-shirt or a mug — one wonders if ALL of the contributions will be disclosed because the organization is accountable only to the Internal Revenue Service and they do not share their findings with the public. Even the Super-PACs that hypocrite Obama demonized are more transparent than this scheme.

This is another “historical” precedent as no other presidential campaign has sought perpetual life beyond a campaign – and certainly not as a “non-profit.” Of course, it will stay out of elections – but that does not stop the organization from collecting millions of dollars from lobbyists and others to conduct issue advocacy campaigns.

Nothing new here …

The Los Angeles Times is reporting:  “Jim Messina, who managed Obama’s 2012 campaign, will be chairman of the board, and longtime Obama advisor David Axelrod will serve as a consultant. David Plouffe, Obama’s top political advisor, will also have a role when he leaves the White House, a move expected to happen soon.”

Bottom line …

The corruption in democrat politics continues. The democrats are now engaged in the 2014 congressional election to take over the House of Representatives and increase their Senate majority to provide Obama with clear sailing for his radical agenda in 2015. CONSIDER THAT A SITTING PRESIDENT – ABLE TO AWARD PERKS AND PRIVILEGES TO SPECIAL INTERESTS – WILL BE ASSOCIATED WITH A NON-PROFIT THAT CAN TAKE UNLIMITED SECRET CONTRIBUTIONS FROM LOBBYISTS, SPECIAL INTERESTS – AND AS WE HAVE SEEN WITH BILL CLINTON’S FOUNDATION, FOREIGN MONEY!!!

This is the President who claimed that he would not deal with lobbyists and special interests. His Administration is full of lobbyists and media types. He panders to the special interests each and every day.

It is now time to pierce the veil of secrecy surrounding the democrats and Obama. Starting with a thorough investigation of his eligibility for office. It is not about Obama’s blackness, it is about Obama’s lack of transparency in both his personal and public affairs.

Obama’s Swiss-Cheese Campaign

Obama’s Swiss Cheese Campaign
by Michelle Malkin
Creators SyndicateCopyright 2012

What’s pale yellow, riddled with holes and not very sharp? President Barack Obama’s renewed class-warfare attack on GOP opponent Mitt Romney.

To kick off the Independence Day holiday, America’s fundraiser-in-chief took to Twitter to stoke wealth-bashing resentment against Republicans. “FACT,” Obama’s official Twitter account declared, “In 2010, Romney reported having a $3 million Swiss bank account.” Obama for America campaign manager Jim Messina piled on, urging “every reporter covering Romney” to read left-wing Vanity Fair’s new report on his offshore finances. In a water-carrying news conference call, Obama campaign flack Ben LaBolt assailed Romney’s “mysterious corporation in Bermuda, his funds in the Cayman Islands and the Swiss bank account he opened.”

The Democratic wizards of election-year optics believe that such populist rhetoric demonizing foreign money will help shore up their left flank and win independents tired of crony, out-of-touch government. One problem: They launched their class war fusillade in the same week that Tinseltown tycoon George Clooney announced Obama fundraising efforts — in Geneva, Switzerland. Oops.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney will entertain 150 European elites at a swanky Swiss reception, “which will be followed by a more intimate — and expensive — dinner at which the star will be the guest of honor. Tickets for the latter event will go for $20,000 for singles and $30,000 for couples.” As Reuters reported at the time, Clooney spearheaded a similar event in Geneva, “one of the world’s most affluent cities,” in 2008. “Some 170 contributors paid $1,000 a head to hear him speak at a cocktail party held at a museum in Geneva’s Old Town. And 75 high-rolling supporters spent $10,000 each to attend ‘an intimate seated dinner’” with the actor.

Swiss money for thee, but not for Romney, eh, Democrats?

Even more problematic for Obama: Some of his very best campaign finance bundlers and golfing buddies are architects and beneficiaries of the Swiss tax havens he purports to abhor.

Robert Wolf is president of Swiss financial giant UBS Investment Bank and chairman of UBS Americas. According to campaign finance records, this longtime friend and fat cat has personally bundled more than $500,000 for Obama, dating back to Obama’s Illinois Senate days.

Obama and Wolf were introduced by radical leftist billionaire George Soros and have remained golfing and basketball buddies ever since. Wolf sits on Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board and the presidential Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. In August 2010, Obama’s Internal Revenue Service dropped its lawsuit over UBS tax havens. The company forked over nearly $800 million to make the investigators all go away.

Wolf’s no lone Swiss-based Obama wolf. The left-leaning BuzzFeed and right-leaning Washington Free Beacon websites both noted in April that another deep-pocketed Obama bundler, Charles Adams, heads the Swiss office of powerhouse law firm Akin Gump. He’s raised at least $100,000.

It’s fondue-savory to watch the current administration, up to its eyeballs in tax cheats and scofflaws from the Treasury Department to the Health and Human Services Department to the Labor Department, railing about Romney’s purported tax evasion. It’s even richer to watch Obama’s operatives huff and puff about Romney’s lack of transparency while using Romney’s own disclosed tax forms to disparage his wealth, investments and private-sector success.

Is this donation to the Obama campaign legal?

by John Lott on Monday, June 25th, 2012

This is article 651 of 996 in the topic Obama

There are donation limits, and I think that it is pretty clear that a private citizen can’t simply cover what are real campaign costs in an amount that exceeds what he is legally allowed to donate. From Fox News:

An anonymous donor has offered to pay up to $20,000 of the cost of extra security for President Obama’s visit to a New Hampshire college town after the town asked the Obama campaign to foot the bill.
CBS Boston reports Jay Gooze, the Town Council Chair in Durham, announced Sunday a local resident has offered to cover the cost of the president’s Monday campaign stop.
“We are grateful for this generous offer,” Gooze told CBS Boston.
Gooze says the resident stressed he or she believes the town did the right thing by asking the Obama campaign to pay up, and he or she felt donating the money is the right thing to do.
The town caused a controversy when they asked the Obama campaign to cover the $20,000 to $30,000 cost of extra police, fire and EMS services for his visit to the University of New Hampshire because the city couldn’t afford it. The Obama for America campaign refused.
Durham Town Manager Todd Selig tells CBS Boston residents had mixed reactions to the standoff. . . .

Can the GOP Win if the Economy Improves?

by Michael Medved on Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

This is article 625 of 1300 in the topic 2012 Elections

If, after the stumbles of the last week, the recovery resumed and the economy looked notably healthier in November, would Barack Obama deserve re-election?

Most Republicans would respond with a resounding “no”, but they need to prepare to explain their answer if they want to maintain any hope of victory. Abundant signs of a slowly improving economy should force the president’s opponents to make stronger arguments for his replacement than the tired, simplistic “he made a mess” mantra that has already begun to sound dubious in the face of a brightening jobs picture (including 227,000 new jobs in February) and a robust stock market.

This doesn’t mean that President Obama will sweep to a second term with a triumphal “Morning in America” campaign. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office projects that unemployment will remain above 8% well into 2013, and that it won’t return to “normal” rates of 5% until about 2019. Skeptical conservatives can acknowledge that GDP growth might rise slightly from last year’s brutal 1.7% to a still anemic 2% — still slightly below the average growth rate achieved during eight years of the much-reviled George W. Bush.

But Americans don’t make political decisions based on numbers. They vote according to their feelings, and if they continue to feel that the economy’s gaining momentum, then Republicans will make little headway in convincing them that they’re wrong.

Rather than trying to talk down the business climate and challenging the instinctive optimism of Americans, the GOP should focus on one aspect of the Obama record that even the administration’s most ardent apologists can’t dispute: the relentless growth of government since the president took command of the Oval Office.

In fact, Obama seems positively proud of the dramatic expansion of federal power under his leadership and promises more costly activism if he’s re-elected. Washington’s spending as a percentage of GDP has soared from a 60-year average of 19.7% to projections of more than 24% in this election year — with 40% of the crushing cost of those new initiatives borrowed on the backs of future generations.

While experts might quibble about the true health of the economy, ordinary Americans don’t need convincing that federal overreach stunts growth. They already fear big government as a danger to the Republic. In December, Gallup asked respondents, “In your opinion, which of the following will be the biggest threat to the country in the future: big business, big labor or big government?” A stunning 64% feared big government — the highest percentage since the last days of the Clinton administration. Another poll (from the CNN/Opinion Research Corp.) brought similarly striking results in June 2011: 63% of respondents agreed that “the government is trying to do too many things that should be left to individuals and businesses,” while just 33% believed that “government should do more to solve our country’s problems.”

This untapped national consensus presents conservatives with a spectacular electoral opportunity. It also helps to explain the unexpected results in one more new survey: Gallup’s state-by-state review of 218,000 adults in all 50 states showing that self-described conservatives outnumber self-described liberals with a national margin of 40% to 21%. In all, 37 states (including such liberal bastions as Illinois and Oregon) show conservatives as the largest group and liberals as the smallest.

A down and dirty campaign from “both sides”?

by John Lott on Friday, September 2nd, 2011

It isn’t clear from Howard Fineman’s discussion why the Republicans would want a “dirty” campaign. It is the Democrats who have nothing else to run on. Republicans have a lot to run on — Obama’s disastrous record and how they would do things differently. From Howard Fineman on Hardball:

“I don’t think that the numbers are good enough, and I don’t think that the temper of the country are going to be good enough, which is why when I talk to Democrats outside and inside the White House, as I did today. What I heard was a slightly different message. It’s not going to be a ‘Morning in America’ campaign, it’s going to be a darkness at midnight campaign about the Republicans. it’s going to be about the fact that the Republicans in Congress pushed Paul Ryan’s bill Medicare, about how they pushed Cut, Cap and Balance. It’s about how Republicans wanted to dismantle Wall Street reform. It’s going to be about how the Republican presidential candidates have embraced the Tea Party. Those are going to be the two central messages of a campaign that’s mostly going to be about attack. I think this is — just like 2008 was in some respects an uplifting campaign, from both sides, this one is going to be down and dirty from the beginning from both sides.”

The president said nothing

by Marie Jon on Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

From the moment the good citizens of this country heard what took place in Arizona, President Barack Obama said nothing to admonish the media or the investigating sheriff for openly defaming innocent people who had nothing to do with the deaths and life-threatening injuries perpetrated by a lone gunman.

Obama, who has repeatedly ignored the will of the people for two years now, looked the other way as his cohorts blamed the killings on outspoken conservatives who have voiced strong objection to the president’s policies.

The reasons for the mayhem — inflicted by the hands of an emotionally-imbalanced man who has needed psychiatric help for a very long time — were concocted and distorted by the extreme Left. This is most unfortunate for society, and for Jared Lee Loughner, who received little or no professional help prior to his violent rampage.

Launch of Obama’s 2012 campaign

I and others were offended at the disrespectful atmosphere we witnessed during a memorial service in which the president addressed the American public about “civility.” It was no shock to many of us when we learned that his speech and T-shirts were recycled from his 2008 “Organizing For America” campaign, along with the memorial service slogan “Together We Thrive.” (Read here)

To think that Obama used the tragedy as an opportunity for political gain is more than disgusting.

The screeching, yelping voices that reverberated with the words “I love you Obama” were reminiscent of his campaign days when people were supposedly passing out in his presence. What a ruse!

True ‘civility’

What does “civility” mean to Obama? Unfortunately, he will always ignore its true meaning — which centers in the kind of open, honest, passionate discourse displayed historically by ordinary citizens — while he and other elites emphasize instead the politically-correct notion that good citizens know their place.

Americans see right through Obama and his ilk. We’ve heard his ranting, accusatory words directed at us and others in the not-so-distant past. These vitriolic attacks have steadily come from the uber-Left since a Saul Alinsky community organizer deceived his way into the White House.

The time has come when we don’t want to hear one more word from the man who sits in the Oval Office, much less another lecture from him about civility. He must be voted out come 2012. Now, that would be an act of true civility — in line with the original meaning of the term!

Stand up to demagoguery

With that in mind, let me offer some advice to our new Republican legislators and the old guard within the Senate and House:

Do not collaborate with this immoral, corrupt, deceitful president. He has been taking every one of us for a destructive ride that has brought us to where we are today — on the verge of collapse materially and socially, not to mention militarily.

If any of you keep consorting with him, “We The People” will hold you just as accountable as Obama. It’s clear to informed, discerning Americans that the man’s purpose is to destroy our country and fundamentally transform it into a socialistic dictatorship.

Mi Familia Vota, SEIU, and the illegal alien swing vote

by Michelle Malkin on Monday, October 25th, 2010

Democrats have long partnered with the illegal alien lobby at election time.

Flashback 9/2010: Video: Boxer’s non-English-speaking day labor protesters

Flashback 4/2009: Obama Census Plan: No Illegal Alien Left Behind

Flashback 6/2006: California Democrat invites illegal alien help

Flashback 4/2006: Illegal alien voter recruitment

Flashback 10/2004: The illegal alien swing vote

Flashback 7/2004: Where illegal aliens can vote in local elections

Keep all this context in mind as you familiarize yourselves with Mi Familia Vota, the Latino “social justice” group and Big Labor satellite whose name keeps cropping up in voter fraud stories.

Via Discover the Networks:

* Run by progressive labor leaders
* Works to naturalize new citizens, to register new voters, and to use the 2010 Census as a redistributive mechanism

The Mi Familia Vota Education Fund (MFVEF) is an open-borders group that advocates “social and economic justice.” It maintains offices in Arizona, Colorado and Texas. As a national partner of the Ya Es Hora, Hagase Contar! (“It’s Time, Make Yourself Count!”) campaign, MFVEF works in conjunction with the NALEO Education Fund, the National Council of La Raza, the Service Employees International Union, Univisión Communications, Entravisión Communications, and ImpreMedia to naturalize new citizens, to register voters, and to use the 2010 Census to redistribute wealth and power in the direction of Mexican immigrants. MFVEF is also part of the Center for Community Change’s massive Reform Immigration for America campaign and operates as a prominent member of the We Are America Alliance.

MFVEF identifies the following as its major objectives:

*

“Expanding the electorate through direct, sustainable citizenship, voter registration, census education, GOTV [Get-Out-The-Vote] and issue organizing in key states”;
*

“Forming and supporting key alliances at national, state and local levels to increase civic engagement”;
*

“Providing technical assistance and support to other organizations”; and
*

“Increasing public support for full civic participation for New Americans.”

MFVEF’s Board of Directors is largely comprised of leaders from progressive activist and labor organizations. Cuc Vu, the President/CEO of the MFVEF, serves as the Chief Diversity Officer of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil-rights group. Before joining HRC, Vu worked for ten years at the AFL-CIO and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). Her ideology centers on progressive identity politics — “the key role that LGBT people of color can play as bridge builders between the LGBT community and people of color communities.”

Eliseo Medina, Cuc Vu’s longtime mentor and partner at the SEIU, serves as MFVEF’s treasurer. A socialist who sat on Barack Obama’s National Latino Advisory Council, Medina is one of the most powerful figures in progressive labor today. He serves as the International Executive Vice President of the SEIU and is well known for his open-borders advocacy.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer reminded Americans that “in June of 2009, former International Executive Vice President and current International Secretary-Treasurer, Eliseo Medina, laid out the SEIU’s view of comprehensive immigration reform as a way to generate eight million ‘progressive’ voters to support their efforts.”

Via Hunter Cantor:

Mi Familia Vota is formally registered as a “non-partisan” 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, as non-partisan is a requirement to do voter drives.
