In a previous post, Pasadena Phil made a comment about Andrew Breitbart’s speech at CPAC yesterday in which he said he had videos of Barack Obama from his college days that would serve as further evidence of his radical, leftist background.
“I have videos, this election we’re going to vet him,” Breitbart disclosed to raucous applause. “We are going to vet him from his college days to show you why racial division and class warfare are central to what hope and change was sold in 2008.”
“The videos are going to come out, the narrative is going to come out, that Barack Obama met a bunch of silver ponytails in the 1980s, like Bill (Ayers) and Bernadine (Dohrn), who said one day we would have the presidency, and the rest of us slept as they plotted, and they plotted, and they plotted and they oversaw hundreds of millions of dollars in the Annenberg Challenge and they had real money, from real capitalists. Then they became communists. We got to work on that. That is a parenthesis. Barack Obama is a radical, we should not be afraid to say that! Okay? And Barack Obama was launched from Bill and Bernadine’s salon. I’ve been there.”
There’s one thing I think the left has learned, and it’s that Breitbart doesn’t bluff. So the only question now is when he’ll choose to make the videos public. I’m guessing the footage is nothing new to CBS, CNN, NBC, ABC, MSNBC and the New York Times. Mainstream outlets have been sitting on assorted Obama material for years, but to release it in 2008 would have been anathema to their aiding and abetting of the sales pitch for Hope & Change, and to release it now would expose their monumental negligence and willful failure to vet the candidate the first time around. Whatever is in Breitbart’s videos will probably end up reiterating that the mainstream media was derelict in its duty more than they will expose anything surprising about Barack Obama — little would shock anyone who has been paying attention beyond what the MSM has been spoon feeding America these past few years.
One positive for Obama fans: Breitbart’s videos of Obama in college will help put to rest rumors that he never even attended college:
There are two Republican parties. One is fairly liberal, it is hostile to the left but it also believes in stealing their thunder by adopting moderate versions of their policies.
This Republican Party is strongly pro-business, but it believes that to succeed in a global economy the government must provide subsidies to businesses and individuals. It believes that immigration reform is needed, though its chosen candidates know to avoid using the word amnesty. It believes that national health care is inevitable and that the only way to avoid a government solution is through the individual mandate.
It is loosely conservative, but disinterested in social issues. It thinks that the left has gone too far in upending traditional values, but has no interested in combating it and finds those who do embarrassing . It adapts to changing mores with an uneasy smile and tries to pretend that it was with it all along. It has no strong religious feelings and it believes that all religious, including Islam, are basically the same.
It is strong on national defense spending, but mainly to maintain stability and national influence, not because it believes that we face any real threats. It believes that America has a responsibility to the rest of the world and that we are obligated to give back through the United Nations and other international organizations allowing us to spread our values of free enterprise and democracy to everyone.
It is a big believer in the American Dream of economic opportunity, but is unable to think of any other national virtues beyond that. It maintains a strongly Federalist legacy and while it agrees that the Federal government has overreached itself in interfering with the business of states, it has no real interest in rolling back its powers, only in making certain that they are used “wisely”.
The only area where it actively rolls back the left’s program is its deregulation of businesses, but even this is limited to spheres that are objectionable to specific industries which lobby for deregulation. Small businesses can expect much less help, unless they band together and forcefully make something into an issue.
It has no passion for anything beyond deregulating a few specific industries. It supports the right to bear arms, not because it passionately believes in it, but because the political costs of not doing so are too high. It opposes abortion for the same reason, though its opposition is mainly a formality. It believes that gay marriage is inevitable, but isn’t willing to pick a fight with its base over it.
Its leaders and members consider themselves rationalists and believe in Global Warming because “the science says so.” They sneer at those Republicans who deny what they think is the obvious. While they are skeptical of government solutions to Global Warming, they are prepared to accept an approach that does not cause too much harm to business and is routed through private companies.
It views what the Republican Party has become as an embarrassment and while it doles out red meat to the base when it has to, it despises them and constantly dreams of ways of getting rid of them.
Few political events have caught fire in the American Heartland with the swiftness of Congressman Allen West’s January 28, 2102 Lincoln Day Dinner address in West Palm Beach Florida. Lambasting the intellectual dishonesty and subversive motives of the left, Congressman West declared in unmistakable terms that Real America will have no more of the liberal agenda. By the following Tuesday, portions of the speech had spread across the nation, being replayed on talk radio and going viral over the Internet.
To nobody’s great surprise, the usual liberal mouthpieces, as typified by Democrat strategist Bob Beckel, reacted with predictable and exaggerated indignation. Nevertheless, mainstream America responded to West with a collective cheer of approval. Finally, someone on the Republican side is exhibiting sufficient backbone to echo the sentiments of Main Street, where common folk have soundly rejected both the ravages of liberalism and the insipid banalities of “bipartisanship” and “cooperation” still touted by establishment Republicans inside the Beltway as the proper course for the nation in this perilous time.
A hero to conservative America, it is appalling that West’s rising star is threatened not by the Democrats, but by the GOP Establishment in his own state. As part of an ongoing effort to disenfranchise and ultimately disband the Tea Party, Republican insiders have hatched a plot to get rid of West, and in the process, deliver a stern warning to other real conservatives of sharing his fate should they fail to play the political game on terms dictated by the ruling class.
In a defining sense, West’s plight is a microcosm of the difficulties faced by the entire conservative movement as it is repeatedly betrayed by liberal opponents masquerading as their kindred. And until grassroots conservatives recognize the nature of this Trojan Horse in their midst, and unconditionally reject it as an ally, they will continually find themselves undermined and thwarted at crucial stages of their battle against liberalism.
Considering the intensity of public backlash against Barack Obama in 2010, which culminated in devastating mid-term Democrat losses in the Congress, as well as significant routs in state legislatures across the country, it would seem ludicrous that the Republican Party insiders might even consider “reaching across the aisle” to subordinate themselves to the party America had so stridently rejected. Yet in the months following the elections, it became abhorrently obvious that such was exactly the course the GOP insiders had chosen.
On one occasion after another since Barack Obama’s inauguration, grassroots America had rallied and united in its efforts to stop the liberal onslaught in its tracks. And just as frequently, the moment any conservative victory was achieved, the GOP Establishment set itself to the task of neutralizing and negating everything that had been gained.
In a resounding rebuff of Obama’s relentless effort to drag America into the mire of socialism, the people of Massachusetts stunned the entire world by installing Republican Scott Brown in the Senate seat left vacant by the death of Democrat stalwart Ted Kennedy in a January 2010 special election. Yet to the dismay of everyone hoping for Brown to be a real Republican, the moment he passed inside the Beltway, he cast off his pickup truck driving “man of the people” persona, and embraced virtually every premise of the Washington D.C. status quo.
I have become so disillusioned with the GOP, especially here in Southern California, that I re-registered as an Independent.
Now I have just received one of those “special” surveys which either assumes that I am stupid and really believe that these surveys are used to craft GOP policy or that I am stupid and do not recognize an old fundraising gimmick when I see one. Either way, they think I am stupid and simply want my money.
Some of the questions …
PART 5 – Foreign Policy
Do you believe President Obama’s strategy of treating all other countries as equals to the United States has strengthened our security and weakened the resolve of those who seek to do us harm?
Considering the state of the nation and the results of the combined local, state and national polls, fewer Republicans than ever are satisfied with the direction of our nation; thereby illustrating the disingenuous nature of this faux-survey.
Do you believe that setting an arbitrary timetable for withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan is in the best interests of our nation and its security?
No! It is stupid and ill-conceived political pandering for leftist votes, violates the basics of warfare and puts our soldiers in harm’s way.
Should President Obama meet with the leaders of Cuba, Iran and North Korea without preset conditions?
Absolutely. Call them up, tell them what they need to do to and if they don’t do it, cut their access to the United States in every way … including United Nation’s humanitarian aid.
Do you believe that the U.S. should use any means necessary to stop Iran from developing and possessing nuclear weapons?
No! Ballistic missiles are a bit much. Support, coordinate and provide tactical assistance to Israel.
Do you believe Russia is a threat to the safety and security of the United States?
Absolutely – especially since they exported their Mafyia to the United States and control a great deal of our organized crime.
Should the United States put more pressure on Pakistan to rein in Islamic extremists who are training and living within its borders?
Absolutely. And increase diplomatic and market support for India.
PART 6—Family Agenda
Are you in favor of creating a new federal government bureaucracy to oversee and administer healthcare insurance, set prices for health services and act as the “single payer” of all healthcare expenses?
No! They have known about waste, fraud and abuse of the system for decades and did nothing – not with technology, not with investigators – so if they do anything, it needs to be better control of the taxpayers expenditures. No more paying $3600 for two days use of a CPAP machines when you can purchase a top of the line machine for $800. No more rental of a wheelchair for thousands of dollars when you can buy one for under $1000. And we need to eliminate insurance companies as intermediaries between doctors and patients to mention opening all insurance companies to national competition.
Should medical malpractice reform to stop frivolous lawsuits and ever-increasing insurance premiums be a priority of any healthcare reform legislation?
Yes! At the state level.
Do you support reauthorization of the “No Child Left Behind” public school testing program designed to measure student progress based on set standards, and then hold schools accountable?
I have become so disillusioned with the GOP, especially here in Southern California, that I re-registered as an Independent.
Now I have just received one of those “special” surveys which either assumes that I am stupid and really believe that these surveys are used to craft GOP policy or that I am stupid and do not recognize an old fundraising gimmick when I see one. Either way, they think I am stupid and simply want my money.
Some of the questions …
PART 1 – General Questions
In general, are you pleased with the direction of our nation?
Considering the state of the nation and the results of the combined local, state and national polls, fewer Republicans than ever are satisfied with the direction of our nation; thereby illustrating the disingenuous nature of this faux-survey.
Which issues are most important for Republicans in the U.S. Senate to focus on this year?
Fighting tax increases
Stopping passage of amnesty for illegal immigrants
Protecting local control of education
Scrutinizing Obama’s judicial nominees
Blocking union efforts to eliminate secret ballots
Repealing ObamaCare
Stimulating job creation with tax incentives and credit guarantees
Stopping expansion of federal welfare programs
Opening U.S. land for oil exploration and drilling
These are all important matters, but not the most important matter. The most important matter is to insure that there is a GOP majority in the Senate so issues such as these are not legislated by a narrow majority of progressive democrat/Marxists in the Senate.
PART 2 – Economic Agenda
Do you believe that raising taxes will have a positive effect on our fragile economy?
Does any Republican want to cripple the economy by violating the smaller tax provisions of the GOP?
Do you support an in-depth audit of the Democrats’ $789 billion stimulus package to find out where your tax dollars went?
An audit would be useless. One, there would be little transparency once the check had been written; and two, there would be little chance for recovery. Both parties benefited from these expenditures and it would be highly unlikely that either party would want to investigate their special interest donors in a campaign year.
Do you support creation of an independent panel like the 9-11 Commission to investigate the mortgage crisis and other factors that contributed to the economic crisis in our nation?
Another useless and costly commission and another useless report. This is another full employment opportunity act for the lawyers who do all of the staff work while the commission members jet to and fro tending to their personal business.
Should the federal government act quickly to sell off the banks and other assets it took over as part of its bailout program?
This would be another government boondoggle where they sell prime assets to their special interest friends for depressed prices which guarantees them an instant profit – a percentage of which always winds up being donated officially or unofficially to politicians or their families.
Do you support the federal government buying up foreclosed homes to stabilize the housing market?
The government already owns enough property and has shown little or no respect for individual property rights. Why would we grant another bailout to the financial markets when it will do little or nothing to stabilize the housing market?
I’ve been quite proud of the way our Republican House has behaved, for the most part… and disappointed in our leadership in equal proportion. In this political environment, here and now is the time… there is no tomorrow if we don’t deal with the reality of today. We simply do not have the luxury of fostering a weak leadership, whose first instinct on any issue is to compromise. We must have solid conservative leadership grounded in the fundamentals of the Constitution.
The truth in pictures. Would you rather be here…..?
The establishment Republicans have all but allied themselves with the DeMarxists in their efforts to delegitimize the Patriot Movement. The attacks in the statist Lame Stream Press have been incessant, with the usual spiels starting with charges of racism and then running the full gamut of leftist bleatings… ‘We’re (the Tea Party) going to stuff granny in the dumpster, wheelchair and all’. ‘We’re against women and children, because we oppose the Department of Education and the teachers’ unions’.
…. or here? (I know where the police would rather be).
Some of the things I hear coming out of supposed Republican mouths bring swift and sharp reaction from Tea Party ranks. These same Republicans are the first to run in a fight and, time after time, grovel at the feet of the opposition like dogs seeking the approval of their masters… or turn coat at the last minute on a crucial vote. Or, like some, just sell out altogether. Of the two, I think I prefer the complete sell-out… they’re the more honest of the two.
We cannot abide weak leadership any longer. We need principled fighters in there, and not RINOs. The Lame Stream statist press is doing everything in its power to affect the Republican nominating system in Mitt Romney’s favor, while at the same time the north-eastern establishment Republicans once again find themselves leagued with the enemy… to defeat the American people.
The GOP has to change and we don’t have the time to fool with the idiots, so we’ll just have to drag them along behind us. Until election time, that is. With the mood of the country the way it is, it’s going to be ‘Katie, bar the door’ time for a lot of Democrats, and not a few Republicans whose perfidy will finally have come home to roost.
I’m not in favor of Mitt Romney, but that’s not what this article is about. It is about the American Patriot movement and winning the Senate and the presidency in 2012. No more John McCains or Trent Lotts, please.
This thing can be won. The whole shebang… the entire shooting match. But it must be won by embracing conservative principles, and not the purposeless quagmire of compromise and capitulation.
Truth be told, there appears to be little structural difference between the progressive democrats and the regressive GOP …
Both are self-serving entities pursuing self-preservation and funding opportunities; in essence kowtowing to the special interests and rewarding their friends while punishing their enemies.
Both are likely to capitalize on current events and memes to drive media attention and pursue their goals – more power, more money and a lock on the political scene which shuts out their opponents. Saying or doing anything out of expedience, rather than conviction.
Shunning those who appear to be losers and walking away hand-in-hand with those who appear to be winners – holding their nose if necessary to avoid the disgusting smell of betrayal that comes from their alleged principles.
I say alleged because nobody really puts forth hard-and-fast platforms today to maintain flexibility in capturing the widest possible audience. In essence speaking out of both sides of your mouth and flip-flopping on issues depending on the audience.
When was the last time any political party put forth a principled platform and simply invited those of like mind to join the cause? No spin, no equivocation and none of that so-called “nuance” political types use to refer to spin?
When was the last time any politician of note stood up and simply told the truth; explaining the situation as they understood it, proposing a solution and tallying up the likely cost in terms of time, money, effort (discomfort) and an assessment of the public’s will for such a reform? Here I am not speaking of marginal candidates like Alan Keyes or Ron Paul – marginal candidates with a reputation for talking and very little history of actual performance or achievement.
How difficult would it be – and how much mainstream support would it cost – if someone put forth a simple platform and set of goals?
1. Reducing the size of government by eliminating most of the ceremonial and patronage jobs. Eliminating unqualified “family” and “friends” from jobs they are not qualified to hold.
2. Reducing waste, fraud, corruption and abuse by detecting, prosecuting and severely punishing those institutions and people who are plundering our national Treasury. Adding a penalty enhancement with no possibility of a plea bargain, reduced sentence, parole, or time off for good behavior for political crimes or crimes committed while in public office.
3. Eliminating those rules, regulations and guidelines that convey special privilege to the few with the power, money and connections to secure special advantage; including individuals, institutions and industries. The prime example being the tax code which, for all practical purposes, has been used by the government and politicians for social engineering and to reward those who provide campaign contributions.
4. Returning to a strict interpretation of sovereignty. Protecting our borders, eliminating anchor babies and providing renewable work visas rather than citizenship for the problematical millions already in the country. Letting the problem die out with an aging alien population. Restricting employment and social services (other than emergency situations) to those who are lawful citizens. Deporting those who have committed a crime and imposing a severe punishment on those who reoffend and return illegally to America. I am not suggesting anything draconian – just following the laws of most foreign nations; Mexico in particular.
Now, here’s a clever twist that all GOP politicians who are attending President Obama’s Redundant Festival of Failed Spending Orgies should join:
“Take an Entrepreneur to Capitol Hill Day.”
GOP Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee is taking Nashville-based Gibson Guitars CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, via the Memphis Daily News:
Gibson Guitar CEO Henry Juszkiewicz will be Republican firebrand and Tennessee congresswoman Marsha Blackburn’s special guest for President Barack Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress Thursday night.
At that address, the president will unveil a jobs proposal. Blackburn released a statement explaining why she’s bringing along the CEO of Gibson, a company that added hundreds of jobs over the last two years but whose Nashville and Memphis facilities recently were raided over wood that’s allegedly illegally manufactured.
The Memphis and Nashville plants are back up and running. The Gibson CEO told The Daily News production is not back to normal levels because of the seizure of a substantial amount of inventory.
In various interviews with reporters, he estimated the value of inventory seized at between $2 million and $3 million.
He’s also been making the rounds giving media interviews and loudly criticizing the government, which he says is bullying his company.
Rep. Blackburn’s idea is terrific, proactive, and powerful.
Every Republican in attendance should have a guest entrepreneur or small businessman with them to provide powerful testimony about the Obama Jobs Death Toll and the stifling, selective enforcement of Obama land grabs, power grabs, and regulatory grabs.
Fill the entire chamber with a vast cross-section of Obamanomics victims.
Tell their stories.
Make their voices heard.
Grab hold of the narrative, yank it from Obama’s out-of-touch propagandists, and don’t let go!
On the other side of the aise, Democrats can bring Obamacare waiver recipients or food-stamp enrollees with them to demonstrate their bleak vision of Winning the Future.
***
Note to Republican staffers: If your boss is taking an American entrepreneur to the speech tomorrow, please let me know. Send me their stories and I will publish each and every one. America needs to hear them.
Some of you side with the establishment Republicans, “Let’s compromise with the Democrats regarding raising the debt ceiling. Then, the media can not blame us for causing a government shutdown.”
I side with the Tea Party, “Why surrender to Obama, Reed and company? The media is going to portray us as mean-spirited heartless Republicans no matter what we do. So, let’s stand on principle and do what is best for America.”
I think back to seventh grade, waiting for our school bus; Butterball and Zaggy. Butterball was a big kid and very gentle. Zaggy was smaller, but very mean and aggressive; a bully. Zaggy would slap Butterball in the face and punch him almost every morning. Zaggy’s mood would determine how severe a beating Butterball would endure.
Butterball would only attempt to block punches and beg to be left alone. I was a little kid. And yet, I thought, “Butterball, you are getting beat up ANYWAY, so why not hit Zaggy back.”
I am witnessing the same scenario; the left vs the Republicans. The left (democrats and their media) is going to trash the Republicans whether they compromise or not. I say to the Republicans, “You’re getting beat up ANYWAY, so why not stand up for fiscal responsibility and Conservatism?”
Forgive me for using this cliché, but it is appropriate. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. The democrats and their media loath Republicans and Conservatism.
Speaker Boehner, why keep crafting budget plans hoping Republicans will be given a fair shake in the media and awarded kudos for compromise? YOU WILL NOT! Whatever Republicans do will be spun negatively. Pure and simple. End of subject.
Rather than continually staying on defense, the Republicans should stay on offense. Republicans should stand toe to toe with the democrats and their media, hitting them back! What on earth do they have to lose?
I am also weary of hearing Obama, the democrats and their media are unbeatable in the battle for public opinion. If the Democrat’s and media’s influence over what the public believes is so powerful, why was Obama and company so severely beaten last November?
I do not know what snapped in Butterball’s brain, but one morning when Zaggy slapped him, Butterball unloaded on him. Zaggy cried. All of us kids laughed and cheered for Butterball.
Just as Butterball discovered he was more powerful than Zaggy, I submit the Republicans with the backing of We The People (Tea Party) are more powerful than the left. Republicans, for crying out loud, please stop your ridiculous wimpified pandering to these scoundrels on the left. You’re not alone. The Tea Party has your back.
It truly sticks in my craw seeing characterless self serving scoundrels dictating the rules of engagement and getting their way. It goes against everything I believe. Right is more powerful than wrong and is suppose to win!
Butterball later made the U.S. Olympic wrestling team.
For decades, this nation has been held hostage by countries that do not like us. Over federal regulation has created a wall between our God given natural energy resources and energy producers. We must tear down this wall! The "Made in America" energy plan will make this country energy independent, and we can do it in 9 years! www.cainconnections.com
