The London riots are yet another episode in the slow disintegration of Europe. London is no longer an English city, it’s just another pin on a map. Much of London is a bunch of Third World cultures living in a geographical area that they have no cultural or emotional connection to. The culture around them is as shamelessly materialistic, vulgar and violent as anything in the dark ages– with the occasional tip of the hat to politically correct values involving the environment or tolerating gay people. And the same goes for the rest of Europe’s capitals. Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels and Oslo are all obvious examples.

The real showdown in London was not between opportunistic rioters and the impotent police, but between African looters and Asian storekeepers fighting a purely materialistic battle. And if the UK’s immigration trends do not change, in a generation or two, the battle will have a much more open character. A struggle for ownership of the city.

The problem with London is the problem with Chicago and Paris and Los Angeles and most of the rest of the free world. It’s not enough to stick a nametag on a city and assume that its population can be swapped out with no social chaos or consequences.

A culture is a consensus. Change the culture and you change the consensus. The elites imagine that the consensus can be programmed by throwing enough TV ads, school courses and social media games at whatever bunch of people happen to be living in a geographical area. And they’re invariably shocked to realize that it doesn’t work that way.

The human being is not a machine. He is a member of a group. And groups are naturally exclusive. Gangs are the group at its most primitive. Feral packs of young males on the prowl. And above the gang is the tribe, the community from which the group comes. Above the tribe is the nation.

Multiculturalism leaves the nation part vague and strengthens the tribe. And the tribe naturally leads to the gang. The multicultural vision insists that populations can be defined by political identities regardless of their culture, race and ethnicity. And that is clearly not so. Nor can cultures be stripped of all their politically disapproved elements to create a harmonious multicultural paradise.

The USSR tried that experiment already and failed. But what the USSR tried to do with massacres, secret police and rigidly controlled schools, its more moderate leftist colleagues are foolishly trying with rainbows and wishful thinking. And while you can line up a color spectrum of immigrants in an ad, shovel them into the same educational system and pat yourself on the back when some of them spend time together outside of class– you haven’t really changed anything. What you have created is every bit as shallow as the multicultural ad so ubiquitous in our time. A phenomenon all surface, and no depth.

It’s not that the multicultural society is an unreal thing. Africans and Pakistanis have been changed by their exposure to England. And England has been changed by its exposure to them. But it is generally the worst qualities that have been passed to each side. This hybridization has made the youth culture in Europe’s major cities so relentlessly ugly.

If you’ve walked down various streets in parts of Queens, Brooklyn, or sections of other larger cities in America within the last few years, chances are you’ve seen it. The ability to walk for blocks without seeing one sign or hearing one person speak English – at least not as their native language. Some call it multiculturalism; others call it a threat to their native land. It has become so bad in France that some believe this forced multiculturalism – this government forced integration without the lack of assimilation – will lead to an internal war.

Those of my age—I am in my seventies—have a strong recall of the Cold War, fought from the end of World War Two in 1945 until the fall of the infamous Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989 and the subsequent collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. We grew up knowing that the Communists—Marxists—were the enemy.

All throughout that period, American liberals—Leftists—did what they could to ridicule efforts to rid the government of Communists, attacked those like Sen. Joseph McCarthy who spoke out against them, defended the likes of Fidel Castro who turned Cuba into a prison-state, and worked to “improve” U.S.-Soviet relations.

A book I wish everyone would read, liberals and conservatives alike, “Dupes” by Paul Kengor, went into a second printing in January of this year (ISI Books, Intercollegiate Studies Institute, Wilmington, DE). Kengor, a PhD, is a professor of political science at Grove City College. His book runs just over 600 pages, all thoroughly documented, and tells the history of the effort to impose communism on America and worldwide, dating back to the Bolshevik revolution in 1917.

One of the characters in the book is Whittaker Chambers, a former Soviet spy who came to realize how evil Communism was and who revealed how the administrations of Roosevelt and Truman were shot through with spies and those cooperating with the Soviet Union, the most famous of whom was Alger Hiss, a high-ranking State Department official. Richard M. Nixon first came to public notice as a Senator from California who ran on an anti-Communist platform.

“While Communists make full use of liberals and their solicitudes, and sometimes flatter them to their faces, in private,” wrote Chambers, “they treat them with that sneering contempt that the strong and predatory almost invariably feel for victims who volunteer to help in their own victimization.”

Socialism has had a long, hard time establishing itself in America and has mostly been the gift of the Democratic Party that held control of Congress for forty years until that grip was broken in 1995. Despite that, Bill Clinton was reelected and, halfway through George W. Bush’s second term, congressional power returned to the Democrats.

Then, in 2008, a virtually unknown Senator who had not even served a full term, who had no paper trail of documentation regarding his life, who had written two memoirs that hinted at his far Left upbringing and associations, was elected President. Putting it bluntly, Americans were duped.

As Kengor points out, Americans “in poll after poll, year after year, have described themselves as ‘conservative’ over ‘liberal’ by a margin of roughly two to one, by approximately 40 percent to 20 percent.”

The political environment of America is conservative, but it has been the growing number of independent voters that have determined election outcomes.

From EUROPE, no less, comes the word: Failure! It is used to reference multiculturalism. From England, from France, from Germany—the leaders of all three countries decry multiculturalism as a failure. I must tell you that when I heard the news reports on this I cracked up with laughter.

I swear, sometimes the sheer idiocy of man is just immeasurable. The endeavor to foist multiculturalism on human beings was one of those totally nonsensical ideas of the bleeding heart lefties that was doomed from the “git-go” It has single-handedly caused deep hatred, suspicion, derision, and it has led to revolutions, and populations at each other’s throats in countries all over the globe where its practice was instituted—including the United States.

Now – can we get back to some common sense for a while? I know that is a commodity much in demand and sorely short in supply, especially on the left side of the political spectrum.

Contrary to what you may have been taught, multiculturalism did NOT make America great. On the contrary! It was that unique American culture forged in the crucible of the so-called “melting pot.” People of various cultures coming to America to actually become AMERICANS created it. They assimilated and poured bits of their unique cultures into that melting pot where it was blended with all the rest before being ladled out into the mold stamped “Made in America.”

It was dumb beyond measure to ever believe that multiple cultures could exist under one flag. Some cultures will simply run rough shod over other cultures. It is the way of the human animal.

From nations, to clans, to tribes, to families, each has its own culture. In order to live together peaceably we all have to sublimate our personal cultures to that of the country we choose to call home. Otherwise, there is no country.

When people of the same culture clump together they form clans, or tribes, and that will doom a nation. As evidence, I offer Afghanistan, and most of the Middle East. Why do you think Africa, one of the richest continents on the globe, (with the earth’s natural resources) is home to some of the most backward countries in the world where civil unrest and poverty rule the masses? THAT is a prime example of multiculturalism at its finest.

So what has suddenly opened the eyes of national leaders in Europe to the failure of multiculturalism? The answer is right in front of our eyes. The culture of those who practice Islam as a religion, as a way of life, with the total refusal to assimilate into the culture of the host nation within which they have chosen to reside does cause a problem and, at some point will kindle an explosion of resentment. At some point, the refusal to identify with the people of the host nation will inevitably create friction that will spark violence leading to the deaths of many of the citizens of the host country.
