All the Morals of a Bulldozer

by Daniel Greenfield on Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

This is article 12 of 12 in the topic Moral Values

To be genuinely outraged about something, you need to actually believe in something. Without principles, outrage is just tactical anger, or bullying in plainer language. Principles, values and codes are universal. That is if you are angry about a dog being mistreated by riding on top of a car, then you should at least be equally angry at dogs being eaten.

If a man shooting another man after a confrontation and not being charged for it angers you, then it should anger you regardless of the color of his skin. For that matter if racism or sexism offends you, then it should offend you regardless of whether it is directed at a woman or a black man who is a liberal or a conservative.

It’s child play to notice that the game doesn’t work this way anymore. That the media engages in displays of tactical anger, serious-face inquiries into issues that they are concerned about only when they benefit their side, manufactured outrage that is not based on any deeply held beliefs, but only on the need to score some points.

If Republicans seem slower on the uptake, it’s because their ranks tend to be stocked with old fashioned types who even in their more liberal incarnations still try to maintain consistent values. The mindset that that they confront is alien to all but a few of their opposition political operatives. It is a mindset devoid of any values, operating on a Pavlovian reflex that reacts to talking points without framing them in any larger context.

Media moral bullying follows this course, raising issues that they pretend are vital principles, but stop being so the moment they no longer benefit them. The iron clad value of a moment ago is discarded into the trash a second later. The serious faces relax, the twitter accounts go dead and all the attention is refocused on some truly important issue, like the next iPhone.

It’s not entirely cynical, though it mostly is. The people behaving this way have lost the ability to recognize enduring abstract principles that have an existence beyond their emotions of the moment. They don’t live by rules, rather rules live by them, if they are angry, then their anger is a moral issue, if they are not angry, it isn’t. Emotions are the only moral barometer that people who cannot see beyond the self have.

That makes them natural bullies, their shows of outrage lifting their anger up to self-righteousness. Their tactical anger is part pretense, part real, and even they don’t really know the difference anymore. They have been taught that their momentary moral tantrums make them good people, they have not however been taught to be good people. They believe that they are right because they are angry and that they are angry because they are right. It’s an attitude you can see in traffic arguments, in divorce court and on the evening news.

Like well trained Oceanians, it depends on audiences in colorful Keffiyah scarves and ironic t-shirts who rise eagerly for the daily Two-Minute Hates, shouting against racism, patriarchy, carbon, oil, corporate personhood and logos, gun rights, animal testing, heteronormative bathrooms and any of the endless list of things to be outraged by, without the ability to apply their denunciations to a moral code.

Sandra Fluke Gets a Phone Call from the President, America Temporarily Distracted From Gas Prices, Unemployment, Debt, Obamacare & Failed Stimulus

by Doug Powers on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

This is article 10 of 12 in the topic Moral Values

Seriously, can a “Slut Summit” at the White House be far behind?

On Friday, Sandra Fluke got a phone call from the president, and surprisingly enough that president was not Bill Clinton.

These people are so theatrical that it’s hard to believe the Obama presidency wasn’t scripted by Andrew Lloyd Webber:

President Barack Obama on Friday phoned the Georgetown University law student who was called a “slut” by Rush Limbaugh to find out if she is OK.

“He encouraged me and supported me and thanked me for speaking out about the concerns of American women,” Sandra Fluke, a third-year law student said. “And what was really personal for me was that he said to tell my parents that they should be proud. And that meant a lot because Rush Limbaugh questioned whether or not my family would be proud of me. So I just appreciated that very much.”

Amazing what Obama thinks parents should be “proud” of, isn’t it? Call me crazy, but if my daughter was in college and appeared before Congress to say that it’s everybody’s responsibility except hers to pay so she can have promiscuous sex without being punished with a baby, “proud” isn’t the word that comes to mind.

This Fluke woman is going to be a constant source of attempted distraction for Team Obama right up until the election as The One will remain desperate to talk about anything except, well, the results of his presidency. As for Limbaugh, I’m sure he’ll appreciate the extra listeners, because it will make more people tune in. If the left really wants to disappoint Rush, they should stop caring about what he says.

Remember that when Team Obama calls Fluke a “college coed,” they’re referring to a 30 year old women’s rights activist who apparently can’t afford $9 a month for birth control. Of course, this flap has nothing to do with birth control in the preventative conceptional sense.

So when does Sarah Palin get a call from Obama because Bill Maher called her a “dumb tw*t”? Wait, Maher’s a million dollar Obama supporter — nevermind.

Update: Mark Levin puts Obama in perspective: The President calls to console Sandra Fluke, but did he ever call the parents of Brian Terry?

Fluke: no free sex for you!

by Lloyd Marcus on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012

This is article 8 of 12 in the topic Moral Values

The Fluke contraception controversy is democrat inspired. It is yet another example of democrats promoting and trying to force all Americans to “fund” behavior many Americans would consider to be sinful. We taxpayers are minding our own business. We are, for the most part, passively ignoring America’s cultural rot. But our passiveness is not enough for the democrats. They demand that we “fund” behaviors which are in conflict with the principles, values and faith of many Americans. Forty million Americans are Christians.

Ms Fluke, Americans do not care how many out-of-wedlock sexual encounters you may have. But, when you go before congress in an attempt to demonize us for not funding your activities, you are infringing on our freedom; forcing your values down our throats.

You guys on the left are “always” the aggressors. When we say “no,” your media machine attempts to portray us as the aggressive bad guys.

Also, am I weird or old-fashion for thinking it a bit shameful for a woman to go before congressional committee to basically say, I sleep around a lot and demand that taxpayers pay for my birth-control? Fluke is another prime example of how nothing is shameful any more, which is in-keeping with the Moral Relativity philosophy taught in colleges. Moral Relativity in a nut shell says nothing is right or wrong and no one has a right to judge the morality of anything.

Think about this folks. We have TV talk shows themed on finding the father of a unmarried pregnant woman’s baby. The exploitative TV host tries to sound passionate. Today we have poor pregnant Sherri who has slept with 27 guys. We have brought all 27 of these scumbags on the show to discover through DNA testing who is the daddy.

Good Lord, remember when an unmarried woman was ashamed of being pregnant by her one boyfriend? Today, women who have fornicated with every male within a ten block radius of their home go on national TV and are celebrated as victims.

Ms Fluke, sleep around with whomever you please. Christians and most Americans defend your right to do so. However, the line in the sand is when you and your democrat enablers demand that we taxpayers pay for your sexual encounters.

Obama says more – O’Reilly says less – Not theirs to decide

by Rev. Michael Bresciani on Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

This is article 7 of 12 in the topic Moral Values

more-or-less.jpg

It is clear that after three years of the Obama administration’s labors for the gay agenda and his recent statement about abortion being a means for “our daughters’ to have the chance for financial success that our sons enjoy, that this President has no interest whatsoever in what was or could ever be referred to as an American sense of morality.

Setting the moral climate, the president has urged the gays to fight on and resultantly same sex union battles and hate crimes legislation have been the hallmark of his administration above all other accomplishments imagined or real. With a three year record now following the president, it is apparent that most of his accomplishments are imagined.

As the president leaves the economy to crumble, gas prices to soar and debt to rise, he is ever calling for more social change and getting it. Has no one noticed that while all the experts are clamoring over the economy the nation is being twisted into a moral morass that could not ever have been imagined by the founders?

This week Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder made a statement declaring that he will not defend DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) in the military, saying it violates the equal protection clause of the First Amendment. The moral depravity of such a position aside, we are left to ask; when did marriage become an act meant to protect anyone?

There are a lot of new versions and commentaries of the Bible around these days, but no one, not even Holder, has come across one that has God pulling one of Adam’s ribs to make him a mate called Eddy. When dealing with today’s political leaders the Bible, common sense and traditional wisdom would all fail so there is no way to explain the trend toward the end, except to say it is the long awaited fulfillment of last days prophecy.

Although prophecy shows us some historical events and coming wars it mostly describes a social change that leads to anarchy. It is a day when there is no normal as we once knew it, anything goes, or more accurately, everything goes. Sound familiar? Should we be thankful that Obama and Holder were chosen to help us across this prophetic threshold?

Hundreds of lesser known, perhaps even obscure messengers, preachers and prophets around the nation are warning that we have stepped over a line that will result in the fall and the judgment of this nation. On the other hand better known journalists like Mychal Massie, Floyd Brown, Joseph Farah, Sher Zieve, Laurie Roth, Brian Fischer, Jen Shroder and a myriad of others are decrying the moral decline along with voices like Franklin Graham, James Robinson, John Hagee, Gov. Mike Huckabee and yours truly.

These messengers may be the last voices we want to hear today, but they will be the first voices we recall when the nation starts to see its tumultuous future. That is when we will see the dreaded result of ignoring the immutable universal laws of reciprocation. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man (Or nation) soweth, that shall he (It) also reap,” (Ga 6: 7) parenthesis mine.

Then along comes Fox’s conservative bastion of freedom, Mr.

Will Demography Defeat Democrats?

by Michael Medved on Thursday, November 24th, 2011

This is article 5 of 12 in the topic Moral Values

If demography is destiny, the Democratic Party could be facing big trouble. A growing contrast between the two major parties centers more and more on stark differences in marital status and religious involvement – distinctions that should give substantial advantages to Republicans and place Democrats increasingly outside the American mainstream.

New polling from the Gallup Organization includes striking details that ought to alarm the administration and its allies. For the first time, substantial majorities of those who describe themselves as Democrats in the age of Obama say they are unmarried and irreligious—in a nation that overwhelmingly values both marriage and religion.

Between June and August, 2011, Gallup interviewed more than 78,000 adults, evenly divided between the two parties. Among Democrats, 52 percent say they “seldom” or “never” attend religious services; among Republicans, 61 percent go to church or synagogue once a month or more.

Even more surprisingly, 54 percent of Democrats say today they are single; up sharply from the 48 percent of the donkey party who counted as unmarried before Obama’s election. For the GOP, on the other hand, the great bulk of its support (62 percent) continues to come from married adults.

As a party overwhelmingly comprised of church-goers and married people, the Republicans not only mirror the nation at large (where solid majorities are currently married and attend religious services at least monthly) but, more importantly, connect to nearly-universal American aspirations.

The most recent figures from the Census Bureau show that in 2010 more than 83 percent had been married at least once by age 40, while surveys suggest that the biggest groups of single adults (the never-married below 25 and widows above 65) would personally prefer to be part of marital relationships. Few people who currently hold the status of husbands and wives nourish a burning desire to live as singles (if they did, they’d divorce) but huge proportions of those who remain unmarried wish they could marry (or, in some cases, marry again).

On a similar note, even those Americans who may attend church services less regularly than Republicans express strong positive feelings toward religion, while few among the great bulk of Americans who say that they pray regularly would endorse the attitudes of the irreligious majority in the Democratic Party. A typical recent poll (from CBS News in 2009) showed 59 percent of all respondents saying they “pray often” and an identical percentage agreeing that “religion is very important in their daily lives.” Among the 40 percent in that survey who said that they go to services “nearly every week” it’s safe to say that few believe they should worship less frequently, but among the 39 percent who admitted they attend “less often” many would no doubt acknowledge that they wished they could participate on a more regular basis. Only 20 percent flatly declared that they “never” go to services – the position that currently dominates the Democratic Party.

In other words, the United States not only remains a nation where the bulk of the populace attends religious services regularly and most adults go home each night to a husband or wife, but big majorities still believe that marriage and faith are positive influences in our national life.

When Will the Economy Become a Moral Issue

by Austin Hill on Saturday, November 19th, 2011

This is article 6 of 12 in the topic Moral Values
“I only care about the moral issues.”
If I’ve heard that phrase once, then I’ve probably heard it a few hundred times in recent years. It’s a common response I hear when I’m among socially conservative faith-based groups and individuals, and questions about our economy arise.
As a writer and talk show host I covered the last presidential election cycle in detail.  Hosting daily talk radio in Washington, DC back in 2008, it would become apparent when I was speaking with a faith-based or socially conservative caller to my show because such callers would  frequently express concerns over some specific issues with the candidates. “I don’t think McCain is really pro-life” was a common concern.  And “Obama says he opposes gay marriage, but I don’t believe him” was another.
To these types of statements about abortion and the definition of marriage, I would often respond with questions about economics, just to see where the discussion would go. “But what do you think of Senator Obama’s plan to raise taxes on rich people and to cut taxes for others – is that fair?” I might ask. Or “Do you think John McCain is right about the stock market crash when he says that it’s all because of ‘greed on Wall Street?’”
Generally speaking, my economic questions would bring these brief talk show conversations to an abrupt end.  “I only care about the moral issues” was the response I’d usually hear – as though economic issues are morally neutral or of no moral significance at all – and then the caller would say goodbye.
That was in 2008.  And today, as we close-out the year 2011 and prepare to elect a President again next year, I’m wondering if socially conservative faith-based America is now ready to regard economic matters as “moral issues.”
Given what has happened over the course of the Obama presidency thus far, it should be apparent that America is now in the midst of an economic policy revolution. Faith-based individuals and groups can no longer afford to sit on the sidelines and pretend that economics is not a moral issue, nor can they assume that the various economic policies that get implemented at the federal, state, and local levels of government are all morally equivalent with one another.
Considering the severe mismanagement of private sector financial markets that helped lead to President Obama’s election in 2008, and the selfish and wasteful handling of tax-payer assets in Washington during these first three years of his presidency, the need for sound, moral understanding of the economy is as great as it ever has been.
One of the most important things that socially conservative faith-based Americans should be doing right now is thinking seriously, and critically, about people’s concerns and rejections of American capitalism.

Tebow scores one for Christianity

by Lloyd Marcus on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

This is article 4 of 12 in the topic Moral Values

I recently learned President Ronald Reagan designated 1983 as the national Year of the Bible. I seriously doubt such a proclamation would pass Congress today.

President Obama has declared, “We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.”

The liberal media regards expressing one’s Christianity publicly as repulsive as showing Dracula the cross.

For those of you who do not follow football, former college football quarterback superstar, Tim Tebow is an outspoken Christian. The liberal media and pro abortion groups were furious when the story of how Tebow’s pro-life mom was advised by doctors to abort him, but refused, was featured in a Super Bowl commercial.

Tebow is now a pro football rookie quarterback with the Denver Broncos. Some sports analysts and media say Tebow does not have the skills needed to “make it” in the NFL. While some of the naysayers and criticism may be justified, some desire to see Tebow fail because he is so outspoken regarding his Christian faith.

My doc says exercise helps control my diabetes. That Sunday, I was at the gym on the ellipse machine watching the Denver/Miami NFL football game. It was Tebow’s first start as a pro.

An elderly husband and wife couple approached the aerobic section. They visually scanned the bank of TV sets. I suspected they were looking for the Tebow game. I was correct.

I asked, “Are you folks Tebow fans?” They smiled and replied, “Yes” I said, “So am I.” The woman said, “Thank you.” Something in her voice told me their support of Tebow extended beyond football. I suspect millions across America share similar feelings about Tebow.

Rather than giving you a play by play of the game, let’s say for 95% of the game, Tebow’s performance was unimpressive. Miami was beating Denver 15 to zero. Then, with 2 minutes left in the game, Tebow brought his team back to tie the score. Tebow’s team won the game in overtime. Wow!

When interviewed after the game about his amazing comeback and win, Tebow said the last thing I am sure the liberal media wanted to hear, “First, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…”

Folks, I yelled, “Yes!” and felt a little tearful.

Please do not get me wrong. I am not suggesting Tim Tebow walks on water. I am saying that in our culture which celebrates crudeness and the lowest common denominator, it is extremely refreshing to see this young man boldly standing up for traditional wholesome principles and values.

Unquestionably, the American left has launched a war against Christianity. We are lectured and threatened with political correctness to respect every religion under the sun except Christianity.

It is open season on trashing Christians in movies, political interviews and etc. The Christian is portrayed as the nut job, the loser or the nerd.

Rumor has it, Tebow is an extremely hard worker and a born leader; sounds similar to a fire ball from Wasilla Alaska who is also despised in the liberal media for similar reasons.

Be prepared for an all out campaign by the left, throughout his pro football career, to destroy and discredit Tim Tebow.

Thus far, Tebow has done three things to infuriate the left and secure his name permanent residency on their excrement list.

Our Nation of Laws – That Endanger our Future

by Rev. Michael Bresciani on Saturday, October 29th, 2011

This is article 3 of 12 in the topic Moral Values

Our-Nation-of-Laws.jpg

While interpreting a woman’s right to abortion in 1973, the Supreme Court made a landmark decision to allow a woman to abort an unborn child for any reason. Going far beyond giving rights to women over their own bodies that decision (Roe v Wade) gave a woman the right over another’s body even before either science or the court could sufficiently answered the question of when life actually begins.

In classic fashion Biblical moralist were dismissed out of hand with the help of the emerging interpretation of the first amendment; an interpretation that is fully ingrained in the national psyche and is commonly referred to as ‘the separation of church and state.’ The climate was created and entire organizations such as the ACLU began regularly trying to remove tablets and monuments with the Ten Commandments from public places, scuttling all allusion to God in classrooms and attacking Christmas displays of the nativity.

Those were the early days of the get God out movement, but today we have advanced the effort to include calling for the removal of statues from veterans gravesites, attacking the sanctity of marriage and of now we have stooped to laws that actually indoctrinate and use the power of suggestion and assent to endanger our children to accept deviant sexual practices.

This month New York City will begin its mandated sex education for sixth graders and up, which includes not only explicit materials but education in alternative lifestyles such as homosexual and bi-sexual. Under the guise of protecting youth from not seeking protection during sex we will now propose to feed the emerging libidos of the prepubescent with options and titillating choices that heretofore were commonly picked up in the street: or the gutters depending on your view.

It is a clear violation of parental rights to add to the list of new laws that are steadily attacking the right of parents to guide their own offspring. It is Hillary Clinton’s ‘It Takes a Village’ taken all too seriously.

Now the Senate Judiciary Committee is set to begin their debate starting on November 3, 2011 on the repeal of DOMA; (Defense of Marriage Act) a bill which if formed against DOMA, President Obama has already indicated he is more than willing to sign into law. Ignoring the over 40 states that have passed legislation to protect marriage the fed is looking for a way to effectively circumvent and neutralize the  will of the people , state by state, yet once again.

While the conservatives are embroiled in debates about Barack Obama’s leftist, socialistic ideologies, has no one noticed that his moral stand (or lack thereof) has already begun to set the stage for the cabal of purveyors and promoters of all that is immoral, deviant and offensive to basic human dignity? Lest we forget, these laws and mandates are so far removed from the declared laws of the living God that we can finally understand passages of the Old Testament that were spoken by the prophets just prior to the fall of certain cities and nations. The writer of Proverbs said what every American should be considering in this day of perversion.

The Economy: The Opiate of the Classes

by Rev. Michael Bresciani on Sunday, September 25th, 2011

This is article 3 of 12 in the topic Moral Values

the-economy-addiction.jpg

Yes, the title of this piece is a takeoff on the overworked paraphrased quote of Karl Marx who said, “Religion is the opiate (opium) of the masses.” Religion is under fire in America but if statistics are worth anything it can be seen that cocaine is at the height of its popularity and in full demand, whereas religion or more exactly, Christianity, is taking a beating.

With drug cartels battling on the borders of our nation with military grade weapons, mobster tactics and disregard for any nation’s laws, it would seem that cocaine is the opiate of the masses in this nation.

For those with no interest in cocaine there is yet one more opiate that is saturating the hearts and minds of most Americans. Concern over the economy is second to none. The only exceptions are those who are in a cocaine induced trance probably so they won’t have to think about our crumbling economy, joblessness and stock market plunges.

The meaning of Marx’s labored phrase is probably understood, but I wouldn’t take anything for granted in a world like ours. But I will take a moment to describe this world, or at least our little part of it, with just a few current events highlights that once again, sound all too much like something from “Ripley’s Believe it or Not.”

In Tulsa, Oklahoma police Captain Paul Fields was not scolded for refusing to attend Sunday school at the local Christian church but did have his pay docked and his chance for promotion withdrawn for not attending an islamically sponsored event at the local mosque. Essentially he was reproved for not taking a look at a religion he has nothing to do with. Yes, the Oklahoma I am referring to is the one where, “the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain” right here in the United States.

Congress is hearing testimony this week about one U.S. based airline that is considering complying with sharia and not allowing Jews, bibles, Christian literature, crosses or religious medals to board any airplane bound for Saudi Arabia. While America is trying its darnedest to keep dangerous materials off our flights, the Saudi’s have decided that the real danger may be a gospel tract or a little black New Testament or the Book of Psalms.

An honor student in Fort Worth, Texas was sent to the principal’s office, suspended from school and punished because he was overheard  telling his classmate that he thought homosexuality was wrong. The ninth grade German class often found the teacher bringing up the subject of homosexuality which seems strange enough, but suspending the young man for his Bible based beliefs is such a blatant attack against his first amendment rights that it is hard to believe that this happened in the same state where the Governor used a huge stadium to have a prayer meeting to petition God’s help for the future of the nation. Perhaps they should suspend the Governor for a few days.

These three examples ripped from the pages of today’s journals of goofus americanus are merely a microcosmic cross section of what happens when Americans are summarily distracted by what they obviously see as the one subject that alone is worthy of a 24/7 non-stop scrutiny.

America, Canada and Mexico: Headed for a Payday?

by Rev. Michael Bresciani on Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

This is article 2 of 12 in the topic Moral Values

trans-am-can-mex.jpgUp till now it was hard to pull off anything in the brave new world of today’s “tolerance and diversity” that could outshine what is done in America. Canada has recently stepped up to the plate with a judicial ruling that topples any extravagance the U.S. has produced so far.

Canadian Judge Joanne Viet freed a 19 year old that strangled her newborn baby and threw its body into her neighbor’s backyard. Judge Viet said that Canadians, “Understand, accept and sympathize with the onerous demands pregnancy and childbirth exact from mothers, especially mothers without support. Naturally, Canadians are grieved by an infant’s death, especially at the hands of the infant’s mother, but Canadians also grieve for the mother” I can’t answer for anyone in Canada but I would bet that is not what most Canadians are feeling.

In a tiny community 200 miles south of San Antonio Texas a cache of weapons that included rocket launchers and explosives was found along a quiet stretch of the Rio Grande. Protecting the need to smoke pot and have plenty of strips of cocaine at parties and clubs in America is apparently very important to the drug cartels that now have a plethora of the best military hardware available today. Those who insist smoking pot is harmless now have rocket launchers in the fray to prove their point.

We could skip over the fact that children were allowed to see the sexual emphasis and paraphernalia at the last gay parade in San Diego or that public nudity is perfectly OK in San Francisco and move right up to the glorious accomplishments of the Obama’s administrations repeal of “don’t ask don’t tell” (DADT) in the military. Today’s celebration of the repeal in several major cities was accompanied with speeches and handclapping. Words like, patriotism, service to country and “at last,” laced the ceremonies and jubilation ensued. No one is willing to talk about the kinds of men and women, who will now, not enlist into the military, but only that their own kind can now sign up without fear or problems of any kind.

Talk of our ailing economy goes on at any day of the week just about 24 hours a day. Experts, analysts, politicians and pundits weigh in and almost no one of any stature has yet once admitted that the bad economy might just possibly be connected to our rising immorality and our new almost bottomless penchant for everything filthy, immoral and sleazy.

Regardless of who wins the 2012 presidential race the damage may already be too far advanced to change anything. The next president would have to start with the repeal of Obamacare and then move on to reinstating DADT before tackling the effects of the gay agenda’s highly questionable advancements just to get to neutral territory, or what would be better described as, pre-Obama America. What they might accomplish after that, would be limited if after all, the economy collapses.

All is not as dismal at it seems because just in time, Joel Osteen is about to release his latest book on how to be happier seven days a week. We will need it even if it is just more of the American perception of positive thinking on steroids.
