Let’s Start With the Department of Education

I am baffled daily with the ridiculousness that masquerades as the United States Federal Government. I mean, really, is there a better example of elitist ass clowns who bleat on about fixing this and changing that all while completely ignoring all the obvious fixes and changes that need to happen? The debt debate has been a perfect example of the hopelessness that exists when one thinks that any of these fools are in the slightest bit interested in doing what needs to be done in Washington DC. The only thing that is more ridiculous than a DC politicians are the millions of Americans who play along with the charade, believing that this party or that party is really the one trying to fix things and the “other side” is a group of godless heathens intent on ruining the American way of life.

Think about what you have heard from those who appear to accept the status quo from Washington DC, both here at SUFA and among the peers you mingle with day to day. We hear things such as, “Deficit spending is necessary in order for country to whether the storms and recessions that are thrown at us.” Another of my personal favorites is, “It is ridiculous to expect a gigantic entity such as the federal government to actually operate within a budget. There are too many variables involved.” It is this type of acceptance of what politicians have created (and have created for the precise purpose of causing you to make the above statement) that is at the root of America’s problems. Think about what you are saying. Essentially: It is impossible for government to operate within a set of fiscally responsible parameters.

Yet, when those gigantic corporations operate in the exact same ways as the federal government, those same folks will be screaming to the hills about how we need more government to reign in the out of control world of big business. If the average citizen or a corporation operates with anywhere near the reckless fiscal abandon that the federal government operates, people have a fit. But when the federal government does it, it is “unavoidable” and “necessary”.

The reality is that the federal government, under every President, does nothing but continue to grow. Certainly some administrations grow at a much quicker pace than others (a certain “hopey changey” President comes to mind), but there have been ZERO administrations that actually attempted to scale back any of the nonsense that came before them. Government always grows, it never shrinks. THAT is what many people in the “uneducated masses” seem to be starting to understand (hence groups like the Tea Party).

As a means of operating the way they want without any particular way for the American public to stop them, the federal government has over 1300 federal departments, agencies, bureaus, and commissions. Let alone the ridiculous number of “President’s Committee on…” that we are forced to endure. The industry that I work in keeps a lot of “trackers” in excel. We sometimes joke (and sadly sometimes use) trackers to track the trackers. Hasn’t it become time that we appoint a Committee to begin eliminating committees?

Gov Scott’s budget displays tea party courage

by Lloyd Marcus on Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

In Eustis Florida, I had the great pleasure of warming up the crowd, speaking, entertaining and singing at a Tea Party rally in which Florida Governor Rick Scott debuted his 2011 Budget. It was a historic event solidifying the power and influence of the Tea Party Movement. It felt like a family reunion with Tea Party groups from all over Florida.

The crowd erupted in cheers and applause in response to Gov. Scott’s plan to cut nearly five billion dollars from the budget. A reporter was surprised, “So, you people are OK with these cuts?” I replied, “Yes, patriots have told me they do not care if their “pet project” gets cut. We have got to get spending under control.”

Kudos to Gov Scott for having the courage to lead and “do the right thing.”

There is a great 50s movie titled, Abandon Ship! A luxury liner sinks leaving 27 survivors in a life boat designed for a capacity of nine. The captain dies leaving the executive officer in charge. Land is 1200 miles away. The new captain’s responsibility is to save as many lives as possible. Thus, he is forced to make extremely painful and devastatingly difficult decisions as to who is considered “dead weight.”

As a little boy, I marveled at the captain’s will, leadership and courage. Unlike liberal wimps, real men have the backbone to “do what needs to be done.”

True leadership is often a lonely endeavor requiring one to fly high above the status quo. Eagles fly alone.

While the consequences are nowhere near as severe as in the movie, Gov Chris Christie and Gov Rick Scott are displaying courageous responsible leadership by “doing what needs to be done.” Rest assured, no one will die or truly suffer from their budget cuts.

We Tea Party patriots truly appreciate them. God bless.

Ten Things Republicans Could Do To Prove They Are Serious

by J.J. Jackson on Saturday, November 13th, 2010

This is article 0 of 3 in the topic Government Reform

Republicans in Congress, you guys and gals want to start fixing the problems we have here in America? You want to prove to America that you are serious about dealing with serious problems? There are a lot of things that need done but here is a list to start with. Some of these are quick fixes that you can get enough Democrats in the Senate to go along with. Others are things that “moderate” Democrats in the Senate will fight tooth and nail against and set up the battle for the 2012 elections. But they all must be done.

1) Propose to extend indefinitely the Bush era tax cuts for all Americans. Why? Because it is the right thing to do! Do not agree to extend them all for only a certain number of years and do not, I stress, do not agree to extend the cuts indefinitely for lower income earners while giving only a temporary extension on those for upper income earners. If you do the latter, then when it comes time for them to expire you will never get those tax rates extended again without huge majorities of conservative Republicans in Congress and a conservative Republican in the White House. Why? It has to do with my fellow members the middle class, many of whom are short sighted and greedy and who will have already gotten theirs. Meaning they won’t give a rip about whether or not the “rich” get a permanent tax cut. At least they won’t care until the “rich” start pulling back to compensate for their lowered incomes and the economy falls back into a murky depth.

Start pushing in the lame duck session. If the liberal Democrats and their ousted Lap Dog Democrats won’t go along with it then do it first thing in January when the new session begins.

2) Republicans in the House of Representatives must propose and pass legislation repealing Obamacare. It may get bogged down in the Senate and even if it makes it out of the Senate President Obama would likely veto it. Let him. Don’t be cowards. Obamacare is so unpopular that if it is still on the books come November 2012 there will be a lot more Democrats, including President Obama, looking for work after those elections to come. Every time this repeal fails pass it again in the House and keep the Democrats on record with regards to the issue.

3) Do not fall for the trap that “replacing” Obamacare with some other law is the way to go. After repealing Obamacare Republicans must hold firm and not pass some other unconstitutional law that forces companies to act in certain way with regards to healthcare and health insurance. If there are laws on the books that hinder the free market exchange of insurance coverage between companies and citizens they should be repealed as well. But no law that exceeds Constitutional authority should be proposed much less passed.
