A painting of Che Guevara subtitled “Revolucion!” by a Mexican–American artist was on display for over three months at the International Airport in Reno, Nevada, USA. On May 9th it was taken down by airport officials as originally scheduled. Complaints by outraged airport patrons had nothing to do with this removal.
“The painting of Ernesto “Che” Guevara will remain on display through May 9 with the other nearly 100 items in the employee art exhibit,” was how airport spokesman Brian Kulpin answered the complaints.”
Ernesto “Che” Guevara scorned Mexicans as “a rabble of illiterate Indians,” jailed artists at a higher rate than Stalin, co-founded the terrorist movement that pulled off among the first and deadliest airplane hijackings in the Western Hemisphere, and craved to nuke the USA.
In November 1958 Cubana Airlines Flight 495 from Miami to Varadero was hijacked at gunpoint by terrorists belonging to Castro and Che’s July 26th Movement. The plane crashed in Cuba killing 14 passengers. Che’s glowing face greeted thousands of passengers boarding their flights at Reno-Tahoe Airport. How very thoughtful of airport officials!
Actually, in the interest of historical accuracy, I should clarify that Che Guevara’s anti-American blood-lust could have been slaked only by nuking the American patrons of this American airport born before 1962. So he mostly craved to nuke the parents and grandparents of the Americans who patronize, run and fund Reno-Tahoe International Airport. This obviously includes those who awarded 1st place in the airport’s Employee Art contest to the Che Guevara iconography on prominent display for over three months.
Earlier this month an American of Cuban heritage who lives in Nevada was the first to complain about the painting, but as usual, to no avail. “Artistic freedom” trumped him to a pulp, as explained by airport officials, and further rationalized by Linda Curcio, chairwoman of the University of Nevada history department.
“Linda Curcio said she was not surprised that a Cuban American such as Paz would be concerned about an image of Guevara,” explained the AP story.
“For him, (Guevara) means the Castro regime,” she said.
“Guevara’s military tactics (italics mine) led to the deaths of thousands during revolutions in Cuba, Bolivia and other South American nations. But his beliefs on communism and Latin America’s stance in the world appealed to anti-establishment college students in the 1960s, and his iconic image has been portrayed on posters, T-shirts and murals since his death, Curcio said.”
“Radical college students may have had posters in a dorm room or worn a beret like (Guevara),” Curcio said. “He was connected to the idea of useful revolt and revolution. For (the artist) it may not be about Cuba. It may be about (Guevara) and student revolt in the U.S.”
Leave it to a history department chairman to recite the Castro-concocted talking points on Che Guevara almost flawlessly.
For any University of Nevada students who read Townhall, here’s some talking points for any question and answer sessions after your next lecture by professor Linda Curcio:
“In fact, professor Curcio, according to the U.S. embassy, the total military casualties on both sides of the anti-Batista skirmishing in Cuba from 1956-59 actually ran to 152. New Orleans has an annual murder rate double that.
Newly declassified documents from Operation SOLO, an FBI program to infiltrate the Communist Party of the United States, reveal that a journal called Freedomways, which was influential in the black community for decades, was subsidized by the Soviet and Chinese Communist Parties.
Freedomways has been called “one of the most influential African-American literary and political journals of the 1960s and 1970s.” It began in 1961 and ceased publication in 1986.
During the 25 years it served as a propaganda organ for the CPUSA and Soviet front organizations such as the World Peace Council, Freedomways published articles by such figures as:
Derrick Bell, one of Barack Obama’s academic mentors and a Harvard professor;
Martin Luther King, Jr., the slain civil rights leader who turned against the Vietnam War and has been honored with a national memorial in Washington, D.C.;
John Lewis, a Democratic member of Congress from Georgia and critic of the conservative Tea Party movement; and
Jesse Jackson, a former aide to King and Democratic candidate for president who has recently been stirring up racial resentment over the killing of black teenager Trayvon Martin.
Freedomways grew out of a Soviet campaign, launched after the Russian revolution, to exploit the “Negro question” in the U.S. and manipulate blacks and members of other minority groups for Communist purposes. The goal was a “Soviet America.”
In 1981, a communist-inspired Black Liberation Army, with the help of the Weather Underground, waged a campaign of terrorism and murder that resulted in the deaths of two police officers and a Brinks guard.
The SOLO documents demonstrate that the Soviet Union illegally provided funding, reportedly more than $28 million, to the CPUSA. The documents are based on FBI informants, Morris and Jack Childs, who had infiltrated the highest levels of the CPUSA and had participated in meetings with foreign communist parties.
President Ronald Reagan awarded Morris Childs (and posthumously, Jack) with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for their work for the U.S.
An FBI memo dated March 3, 1959, which summarized a meeting between CPUSA officials and the Soviet Communist Party, reveals that CPUSA official James Jackson had asked Soviet officials about “the possibility of a Negro magazine dealing with theoretical questions.” Jackson was the party secretary in charge of “Negro and southern affairs.”
Freedomways came into being two years later.
An FBI memorandum, dated July 6,1961, refers to funding for the CPUSA from the Communist Parties of the Soviet Union and China, including $5,000 to CPUSA chairman Gus Hall “for Negro publication ‘Freedomways Associates, Inc.,’” the publisher of Freedomways.
A June 8, 1962, FBI memorandum refers to $3,000 “To Isodore Wofsy for transmittal to Esther Jackson, CP functionary for use of Negro magazine ‘Freedomways.’” Wofsy was another important CPUSA member.
Esther Jackson, wife of James Jackson, was a CPUSA member who served as managing editor of Freedomways.
Freedomways was so extreme that it ran a notice hailing Angela Davis as a “courageous Black woman leader” when she went on trial for murder. Davis, who beat the murder rap, became a prominent CPUSA official and college professor at the University of California at Santa Cruz. She later started an anti-prison project, Critical Resistance, funded by the Open Society Institute of billionaire George Soros.
Despite his reputation as a moderate, Martin Luther King, Jr. paid tribute to W.E.B.
Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., is not backing down from calling members of the Democrats’ Congressional Progressive Caucus “communists” at a recent fundraiser. The congressman told Red Alert Politics on April 17, 2012 that he stands by his comments.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer played the role of wise guy during a segment last Thursday on Rep. Allen West and communism. West “sounds like McCarthy,” Blitzer said, referring to his allegations of communists in Congress. The comment was designed to ridicule West, a combat veteran of the Iraq War and a man considered by many Republicans to be vice-presidential material. Blitzer urged West to issue a public apology.
But Blitzer is the one who should apologize, for he did not offer West’s comments in context. Blitzer also ignored clear and convincing evidence that the Communist Party USA, once funded by Moscow, regards the Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Democratic Party as allies in the “struggle” for socialism in the U.S.
“What’s the difference between the CPUSA and progressive Democrats?” asked CPUSA writer Dan Margolis. “The CPUSA has worked to get Democrats elected, fought for health care reform with the public option, and embraced most of what organized labor has been doing.”
In the article, described as part of the discussion leading up to the Communist Party USA’s 29th National Convention in 2010, he goes on, “The strategy is pro-active, as well. Having looked at the current troubles, and the demoralization that has occurred since the 2008 elections, our line is even more important: Obama and the Democrats are not the enemy; they represent better possibilities for working people than the Republicans.”
If anything, then, West understated the problem. The CPUSA is working through the Democratic Party as a whole, as well as the Obama Administration. And we have their admission of all of this.
Taking the usual liberal line—that communism is dead and that talk of a communist threat today is just plain nuts—the CNN host of “The Situation Room” displayed his ignorance and bias.
Addressing West’s remarks about communism, Blitzer said, “There’s virtually no,” before cutting himself off in mid-sentence and referring to the collapse of communism in Russia. He must have stopped, knowing that it would be foolish to say communism itself was dead when the world had been transfixed by the spectacle of the communist North Korean regime launching another missile.
It would also seem preposterous to talk about the collapse of communism internationally when, in addition to North Korea, there are communist regimes in China and Cuba. Plus, Russia is run by a former Soviet intelligence officer who is the president-elect of that country and starts a new six-year term on May 7.
In addition, we have cases like that of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, a Marxist aligned with Cuba and Russia.
And if there is no communist presence in the U.S. today, then why did a spokesman for the Communist Party USA give a quote to the left-wing paper Politico denouncing West?
In a story headlined, “Communist Party slams Allen West,” Politico reporter Darius Dixon quoted a CPUSA spokesman as saying about members of the party in Congress: “There aren’t any now and if there were in the future does that mean that the voters don’t have a say?”
Blitzer showed his guests, Democratic strategist Maria Cardona along with Republican strategist Bay Buchanan, partial footage of West’s remarks: “I believe there are 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party.”
Buchanan said, “He has not chosen the best of words.
Last week Miami Marlin’s manager Ozzie Guillen told Time magazine that he “loves and respects” Fidel Castro. This week, reacting to outrage by Americans of Cuban heritage (i.e. a huge chunk of Marlin ticket-buyers,) the MLB suspended Guillen for five games. Apparently eager to head-off worse retribution (and damage–control ticket sales) on April 19th a moping Guillen issued a groveling apology at a Miami press Conference.
“I am here on my knees,” he whimpered. “I am here to say I am sorry with my heart in my hands…I hurt a lot of people’s feelings. Now I want to apologize because I did the wrong thing. It was a very stupid comment…This is the biggest mistake so far in my life. If I don’t learn from this mistake, then I will call myself dumb.”
As if hailing a Stalinist dictator who jailed political prisoners at a higher rate than Stalin himself during the Great Terror, murdered more Cubans than Hitler murdered Germans during the Night of Long Knives, repeatedly craved to nuke Ozzie’s adopted country and shattered the lives of half of Miami’s families were some kind of offense in this country! (except for ticket-sales.)
Many luminaries in the Democratic party and mainstream media must be snickering at the hapless Ozzie Guillen.
Take the very Time magazine that quoted his “respect” for Fidel Castro. In their “Heroes and Icons” issue Time honors Fidel Castro’s chief hangman Che Guevara as among the most heroic and iconic of the lot, right alongside Anne Frank, Andrei Sakharov, Rosa Parks and Mother Theresa. “This obscure Argentine doctor who abandoned his profession and his native land to pursue the emancipation of the poor…” starts their eulogy. For the record: no record of Ernesto Guevara’s medical degree exists.
Take two-time candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination Jesse Jackson. “Viva Fidel! Viva Che!” he bellowed while arm in arm with Fidel Castro himself in 1984.
Take Democratic presidential candidate, Presidential Medal of Freedom winner, and “Conscience of the Democratic party,” George Mc Govern: “Fidel Castro is very shy and sensitive, I frankly like him and regard him as a friend.”
Take former President of the United States and official ‘Elder Statesman” of the Democratic party, Jimmy Carter: “Fidel Castro first and foremost is and always has been a committed egalitarian. He wanted a system that provided the basic needs to all — enough to eat, health care, adequate housing and education. Cuba has superb systems of health care and universal education…We greeted each other as old friends.”
Take NBC’s Andrea Mitchell: “Fidel Castro is old-fashioned, courtly–even paternal, a thoroughly fascinating figure!”
Take Dan Rather: “Fidel Castro could have been Cuba’s Elvis!”
Take Barbara Walters: “Castro’s personal magnetism is still powerful, his presence is still commanding. Cuba has very high literacy, and Castro has brought great health care to his country.”
Take CNN founder, Ted Turner: “Fidel Castro is one helluva guy!”
Taken Colin Powell while serving as Sec. of State under George Bush. “Fidel Castro has done some good things for Cuba.”

I’m serious, here, at least for recent shows. This week’s show sent hearts-a-thumping and knees-a-knocking from People Magazine to the Hollywood Gossip. The legendary (after only a few weeks on the show ) heartthrob William Levy cranked up the heat on last week’s show when the Cuban refugee ripped his shirt open for a sizzling salsa routine with dance partner Cheryl Burke.
“You are ridiculously HOT!” hyperventilated Judge Carrie Ann Inaba, to the panting couple, who score near the top as we go to press.
But you ladies eager to see more of William Levy in showbiz better hope his agent counsels the soap-star wisely. “Watch your mouth, William!” Let’s hope she’s berating after last week’s show. “Now about that hokey stuff you were saying in the backstage segment. Billy–what’s the matter with you,?!” Granted, you’re fairly new to this country. But serious bloopers like “the best day of my life was the day I came to the United States from Cuba.”—No-NO-NO, Billy boy!”
“You sound like Marco Rubio, Billy! Granted he was born here. So he’s speaking mostly for his parents—but look at the relentless hatchet-jobs against him in the media!
‘Then Cheryl asks you why you came to the U.S. and you answered: “because people have no future in Cuba..It doesn’t matter how much you work in Cuba.” (This from a nation that prior to Castroism took in more immigrants per-capita than did the U.S. Most of these, much like Levy’s own grandparents, were Europeans seeking the well-known “Cuban dream” of the time.)
“Then, Billy, you add insult to injury by telling your dance partner: “In Cuba you get a quarter of a chicken per month. They give you one piece of bread per person a day. So, it makes your life really tough.” (This from a nation that pre-Castro enjoyed the 3rd highest protein consumption in the Western Hemisphere, more doctors and dentists per capita than the U.S., the 13th lowest infant mortality in the world and was net exporter of food.)
“In this country people think Cubans just drive over to their nearest Safeway and buy all the bread they want, Billy. So here you’re telling them that the Stalinist regime mandates their food intake! That’s a low-blow to their fantasies, Billy.”
“And that bit about. “My father was a political prisoner in Cuba.” “Dios mio, Billy!” None of the people who will influence your career give a rat’s derriere about that stuff. Who cares that Castro’s Cuba jailed political prisoners at a higher rate than Stalin! You’re now living in a nation where the tern “that’s history” is a pejorative, Billy. Remember that.
“If you’re gonna mention Cuba at all with media folks, Billy, mentally bookmark this valuable advice–and like Mr McGuire to Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate,I’ll limit it to one word. “Plastics,” Mc Guire famously advised Benjamin.
“Healthcare, I now advise you, Billy.” Now repeat it after me: “Healthcare, healthcare, healthcare.”
‘Got it? “Free and Fabulous healthcare—world-class healthcare. Healthcare that’s the envy of U.S. citizens.” Got it?
“I know, I know I KNOW, Billy! You were born in Cuba.
Recently I have come to know a number of immigrants, many from communist countries, who are speaking up about what they see happening in the United States. They came to this country to obtain the freedoms not available in their homelands, and they cherish these freedoms more than anything. They are warning the citizens of the US of the correlations between their communist homelands and what they are witnessing in the United States today under President Obama. When you speak to them you can see the fear and feel the desperation, begging us to help stop what is happening in our country.
Below is a letter received from a former Russian citizen.
Dear Occupier:
Do you really mean all that Fair Share, Fair Shots, Social Justice, Equality? Do you know what these words mean in REAL life?
FAIR SHOTS means that 200 million innocent people were tortured and murdered by their own communist regimes in the Soviet Union, China, North Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, East Germany, Algeria and Cuba.
FAIR SHARE means that tens of millions of innocent citizens were and are incarcerated in the labor camps or mental institutions by communist regimes. Tens of thousands of them had died and are dying of starvation, extreme conditions, diseases and hard work.
SOCIAL JUSTICE means forced labor of the prisoners of the labor camps; no freedom, no liberty, no rights, and no justice at all under any communist regime.
EQUALITY means that the members of the government of the communist regime live in multimillion dollar palaces, having billions of dollars stashed in the Swiss banks, and the rest of the population lives in abject poverty, misery and constant fear and terror.
Communist government officials have their own dollar stores, private schools, exclusive universities, hospitals and excellent health care. None of it is available to citizens.
Communist governments take away weapons from the citizens by the decrees and then murder tens of millions of their own innocent people. They call it gun control.
You don’t believe me? Just Google the information on Labor Camps, Holodomor, History of USSR, History of Soviet Ukraine, etc.
Things don’t just happen. In the back rooms or inner sanctums, there are change agents whose job it is to create control words or phrases that are repeated over and over to dumb us down and cause conditioned responses.
Here is a sampling of control words or phrases. There are many others:
Democracy: This is the most used and overused word in the world. It was born in America, and every politician and bureaucrat uses the word democracy. This word implies human liberty in the public mind. The truth is the word “democracy” is used as a cover or disguise for all manner of chicanery of governments and politicians. Some of the most brilliant people use the word “democracy” over and over. Little do they realize how this control word misleads. People who use the word “democracy” in its various perverted forms are closet socialists. Some politicians are aware of the deceptive use of the word “democracy,” but not all. Most people just mimic the word because they hear it so much.
Terrorist: This word was mostly hatched by President George W. Bush. It is/was a code word to begin the final demolition of the rule of law in the United States. This code word has come to identify any and all who disagree with the systemic destruction of law and order. They are dubbed dissidents and are subject to arrest and prosecution on frivolous charges or no charges. Bush never knew what he was saying when he spouted the word “terrorist” (which he couldn’t pronounce). He never knew that the word “terrorist” was a control word created to start a final war on the Americans and personal liberty.
“See your doctor” or “tell your doctor”: These are control phrases originating in the secret towers of the pharmaceuticals. They are dependency phrases repeated millions of times a day. They are designed to keep the public from even questioning doctors who are brainwashed in medical schools controlled by the pharmaceuticals. The control phrases were created to build a prescription drug culture in America. Has the plan succeeded? Yes, to the tune of trillions of dollars of profits upon a hapless drug-dependent society. Doctors are unwittingly pharmaceutical’s lackeys, pushing drugs on an ignorant people. The drug culture has actually caused the public to believe that drugs heal in the place of whole food and nutrition. In time, the medical establishment will bankrupt and destroy the United States. Dr. Benjamin Rush, in the time of the writing of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, warned of this very day of medical mafia.
Pay Your Fair Share: This is a control phrase created to condition the public mind to a perverted “fairness” that uses an altruistic public to feel obligated morally to pay taxes. It tells the conscious mind to “do the right thing.” This phrase helps extract tax money without allowance for logic or legality.
Taxpayer: The elite created the term “taxpayer” to force us all to think of ourselves as “taxpayers.” If we think of ourselves as taxpayers, we become willing taxpayers or income-tax payers. Most Americans believe that the U.S. government is financed by income taxes.
A Washington Post on-line publication that is part of the same unit which publishes Slate magazine has become a cheerleader for communist causes and an outlet for Media Matters propaganda.
TheRoot.com, which is owned by The Washington Post, recently ran a flattering portrait of a communist running for president on a pro-Soviet and anti-Israel platform. “Meet the Black woman running for president on a platform of socialist revolution,” the publication proclaimed. Peta Lindsay was described as a “bubbly African-American activist” who has been preaching “economic change through the socialist transformation of society.”
Lindsay is the 2012 presidential candidate of the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), whose website includes slogans such as “Defend revolutionary Cuba!” and “Free Palestine!” In 2008, the party ran Gloria La Riva for president and “pulled 6,818 votes across the nation,” the article says.
Lindsay is 27 years of age and doesn’t meet the constitutional age requirement to hold the office—a “technicality to which she pays little mind,” the article reveals.
Why is the Post promoting this fringe candidate who literally can’t even win?
Perhaps it’s because Lindsay serves the purpose of making Obama look like a moderate. Lindsay laughs at the notion that Obama is a socialist, the article says.
The Root article is by Cynthia Gordy, the former Washington Correspondent for Essence magazine, who reports that Lindsay’s “belief in socialism” was buttressed by a 2002 trip to Cuba, “where she marveled at the free education, housing and health care.” Nothing was said about the bankruptcy of the regime, its desperate need for trade and aid from the West, lack of basic human rights, harboring of American terrorists, and support for international terrorism.
Lindsay is a founding member of the PSL and a member of its Central Committee. The group is so extreme that it defends the old Soviet Union and participates in conferences of the International Communist Seminar, a gathering of political parties and organizations which defend Marxism-Leninism. It supports the Cuban dictatorship and the Marxist Hugo Chavez regime in Venezuela, calls Israel “a military garrison state serving the U.S. Empire in the Middle East,” and opposes “U.S. attempts to bring about ‘regime change’ in Lebanon, Syria and Iran…”
But the Post thinks she is deserving of special attention.
Identified as The Washington Post Company’s African American news and commentary site, The Root was founded in 2008 “under the leadership” of Prof. Henry Louis Gates Jr. of Harvard University, a close personal friend of President Obama. Remember that it was Obama who went to Gates’ defense when he resisted arrest in an incident outside his home in 2009. Obama said the white policeman who arrested Gates, who is black, acted “stupidly.” The policeman’s fellow officers said the arrest, made in response to disorderly conduct, was justified.
Technically, the Root is published by The Slate Group, an online publishing unit of the Post that also includes Slate magazine. The unit reports directly to Washington Post chairman and CEO Donald Graham.
The “Blogs We Like” section at the bottom of the homepage of TheRoot.com includes Media Matters for America, the Soros-funded group that tries to censor conservative views; the Huffington Post; and “Pam’s House Blend,” a blog devoted to smearing opponents of homosexuality as bigots.
Last week the regime co-founded by Che Guevara (worldwide icon of youthful rebellion) murdered a young defenseless political prisoner named Wilman Villar for the crime of “disrespect to authorities.”
“The Cuban regime is a callous band of murderers that once again has blood on its hands,” said Senator Marco Rubio in a bi-partisan Senate Resolution passed on Jan. 26 in Villar’s honor. “Once again, we are reminded of the unintended but negative consequences of this administration’s loosened travel and remittance policies (to Cuba.) They help deliver more hard currency to the Castro regime, making it easier for them to brutalize and even murder the Cuban people.”
Last November thirty year-old Wilman Villar was peacefully protesting Cuban Stalinism near his home in Eastern Cuba in a sort of “Occupy Santiago de Cuba.” But this protest was more peaceful, less messy and completely devoid of Che Guevara iconography. You’ll notice that this last peculiarity is a historic trademark of people cursed by fate to have actually experienced the handiwork of Che Guevara.
Within minutes of the protest’s commencement the KGB and STASI-trained police that props up the regime co-founded by Che Guevara swarmed in with billy-clubs and arrested all protestors. None of this newsworthy drama was captured by the MSM folks, by the way. And I repeat: Cuba bristles with MSM press bureaus that report every bruise or hangnail among the prisoners in Guantanamo.
In a New York Times article on the 30th Anniversary of Che’s death, Christopher Hitchens rationalized his (not-so) youthful romance with the Stalinist war-monger and mass-murderer (who became an icon of anti-war and anti-death-penalty groups) by claiming that, “Che was no hypocrite.” In fact, Che’s monumental hypocrisy—from stealing Cuba most luxurious mansion, to whimpering to the New York Times in 1959 that he felt “pained” to be wrongly branded a “Communist”—has been amply documented. But in this case, at least, the late Hitchens has a point:
“Youth must refrain from ungrateful questioning of governmental mandates!” raved Che Guevara in a famous speech in 1961. “The very spirit of rebellion is reprehensible!” commanded this icon of Flower Children. “Instead the young must dedicate themselves to study, work and military service.”
Youth, wrote Guevara, “should learn to think and act as a mass.” Those who “chose their own path” (as in growing long hair and listening to Yankee-Imperialist Rock & Roll) were denounced as worthless “delinquents,” and herded into forced labor camps at Soviet bayonet-point. In a famous speech Che Guevara even vowed, “to make individualism disappear from Cuba! It is criminal to think of individuals!” he raved.
